Spider-Man 3 is underrated

The best thing about that movie is that after 2 movies and a long and boring building relationship, all it takes is an omelet for MJ to kiss another guy.

She ditched a guy who she was getting married to at the alter in Spiderman 2 because Peter watched her shitty play.

The film is complete and utter doghsit in every single repsect. Maguire was at his worst here, Which is really saying something considering how awful he is. They destroyed venom and the plot was a complete mess. Thank fuck for ASM.

Yeah, I watched this yesterday and it just reaffirmed my dislike for this movie. My strongest memory of watching it in theaters was the lights coming up during the credits, and some 13 year old kid turned to his friend and said "That was awesome!" and all I could think was "No. No it wasn't.". Even in movies I consider bad now, I'd at least walk out of the theater kind of entertained and positive about them on that after-movie buzz until I sat down adn really thought about it (Phantom Menace, Prometheus). This one was an immediate "That was terrible.".

Yeaah, no. Having just rewatched it on FX yesterday, it's still the crappy movie that it always was.

It had some good parts, sure.

-JK Simmions as JJ scenes.
-Peter vs Harry (both the opening and the one at Harry's house).
-Sandman putting himself together and picking up the picture of his daughter.

....that's it.

2 amazing fights with Sandman? Neither one lasted 30 seconds and they were both just a bunch of flailing around.

Emo Parker, while a little amusing given how bad it was, was a very poor representation of what was suppose to be happening to him. Becoming a super cool, bad boy hotshot was a poor way of translating the isolated,

Everything about Eddie/Venom was terrible. Everything. Same goes for Gwen's half-assed inclusion.

It was very mediocre at best. Not even close to being better than Spider-Man 1.

The suicidally depressing Snow Patrol song they played over the credits was very fitting, I feel.

While not the best of the Spidey movies, I'll just say that I enjoyed SM3 a lot.

The emo bit was dumb, but the rest was pretty great, and the last battle between Sandman, Spidey, Venom, and Goblin was one of my favorite action pieces in superhero movies.

Then again, I loved Amazing also. :P

The confusing part to me is that half the people around him seem to go "what a weirdo" while the other half seems to love it.

For the record:

Spider-Man 2 > Spider-Man > Amazing > Spider-Man 3

Haven't seen Amazing 2 yet. But based on the trailers and a little word of mouth, I'm expecting greatness with some mess of the side. It should at least be better than the first Amazing, maybe better than Spider-Man 1 if it's really good.

Being better than Spider-Man 2 would take something really special though. The Spidey vs Doc Ock train sequence is still my favorite superhero scene ever.

I always LOL at Spidey forgiving Sandman, which I mean, good job, but you kinda still need to take him in for all those bank robberies and public property damage and, ya know, murdering your father(what a dumbass retcon)

That retcon alone means I can't in good faith put it above ASM

Even though the humor scenes in Spider-Man 3 not only kill the ones in this new Spider-man franchise but also in all other comic book films imo. Hell I think it's funnier than the iron man movies as well

JJJ and cocky Parker were amazing

I thought it was okay, nowhere near as good as SM2 or the original.
Actually Tobey spidey's face in all of these movies made really dumb looks (hence my avatar), but it somehow it got worse in this.

I watched it for the first time recently and I still can't see what exactly is the "turd", "garbage"; "franchise-ruiner" part of the movie. I guess the hate is because of the whole emo symbiote stuff, but other than the stupid hair, I didn't have a problem with it. Some parts were hilarious, and not only in this subplot, the whole movie was surprisingly funny, action scenes were fantastic, the plot was alright despite some pacing problems, and villains were decent, not as good as Octopus, but good enough.
Sandman is a bit meh because he seems to be wandering the city without any purpose and looks to be kinda "whatever", but Harry and Venom are both good. It's a shame Venom was so underused though, maybe they should had cut Sandman and give him more importance, but it's okay as it is.

In short, it's a good movie, maybe I liked it more because I read horrible things about it, but I'd put it on par with the other two. Definitely better than The Amazing Spider-Man. Now that's a bad Spider-Man movie and an awful movie in general. And Tobey Maguire is amazing in SM3 as both characters, especially compared with Garfield's insufferable Peter Parker / bland Spider-Man.

This movie is on now and I always feel bad for Harry while he's getting his ass kicked by Peter. He even mocks him then hurls his pumpkin bomb right back at him.

Crazy Spider-Man 2 was the lowest grossing of the 3. One of the best superhero movies of all time and even led to the best superhero game of all time. Spider-Man 3 did so well because of Spider-Man 2.

It's awful but emo peter is funny. SM and SM2 about equal>ASM >SM3.

Hopefully they actually do something good with venom in the future.

Spider-Man 3 is in noway a good movie. But I gotta say if I was forced to watch either SM3 or The Amazing Spider-Man I'd pick SM3 every time. ASM is the true turd here.

Part 3 was ruined for me by how cheap they made Venom, the emo scenes, and constantly crying Peter. Although it has made for some great gifs.

Spiderman 2 was the highlight for me. It seemed to get almost everything right, and made for some great gifs as well, lol.

This, basically. SM3 is bad, but ASM makes it look good by comparison.

That's the camp I'm in. SM3 at least has some watchable sequences that I can justify as visually or thematically interesting. ASM is just a bland, boring, pointless film. I literally can't remember anything more then three second flashes of a couple action scenes.

Kinda strange that talking to the villian for a god damn 5 minutes, while your "best" friend is dying is not a sin. I'm disappointed in this one. They should have filled the sin counter to 1 million for all the emo parker scenes.

A friend of mine and I were laughing for the last 30 minutes non stop. It was just so bad and so idiotic. Never watched it again since then. I think Raimi wanted to get out of Spider-Man movies and did it on purpose.

it's the venom saga interpreted through the campy action of the lee/ditko era comics, and that is fucking nuts

i thought it was awful when i saw it in cinemas but i've taken a liking to it recently because of just how... goofy it is

it can be enjoyed as a schlocky tongue in cheek action-comedy, which is a lot better than asm and asm2 can say once the gloss of "it's new!" wears off
