For those who don't know, Recon mode allows you to explore maps. I'm guessing the ones you can choose will be the 2 that will be in rotation.

You access it in the main online menu and press Y.

If no one does it prior to me getting the chance, I'll do it.
Thank you very much.

Do we know when the review embargo is up? I know MK8 was like two weeks in advance of release.

Sorry if this was recently answered.

I'll be interested to know how the single-player campaign scales in length and difficulty the further you go into it.

The Testfire feels like it happened ages ago.

I had this idea today: Say you're playing on the rig map and are about to get done in. Wouldn't it be better you jumped off the map, not granting the other player the kill (and thus, the ink puddle)?

I can't remember if there was a penalty for falling off since it only happened once or twice to me.

A few months from now, I'm looking forward to the inevitable
Callie fans vs. Marie fans-themed Splatfest
. It must happen.

#TeamMarie...for now, at least.

GameXplain has started their Splatoon coverage!

They just uploaded an Inkopolis Plaza Tour @ 60 fps (which I sadly do not believe this area is running at):

Additionally, they uploaded the Intro to Story Mode:

This is kind of hilariously similar to JSRF. The main hangout area for you and all the characters you gathered had very major slowdown when ever you got near characters. The slowdown wasn't really seen anywhere else if I remember.

Obviously Splatoon will be better than that at least.

Can someone with a review copy record footage of Recon mode? I would like to know if you can a free moving camera instead of only being able to be an inkling and explore the map.

If there is a free moving camera, an overhead view of the whole map would be much appreciated.

i wonder if there will be an autospectator overhead camera like they had in the first trailer. I want to see timelapse footage of matches

Checked the Recon stuff for an overhead camera, but didn't find such an option. Still exploring some stuff and trying to do some online matches. Leveling up shouldn't take too long for folks to reach Level 10, either. I only got in two matches and I'm nearly level 3. It is based on the end-game points.

I fell into water on a stage today, and I don't think there was any penalty.

This may take some time, but can someone determine what the emblem (thing under the money) means? I'm thinking it has to do with your win streak or placement or something.

That's a shame. Thanks a lot for checking.

I wanted some overhead shots like these, though these specific ones without any details outside of the maps are only possible by the devs.
Though maybe it is possible to get something similar to those by getting a results screen where nobody paints lol.

Shouldn't there be another thread for review copy content? I'd appreciate not getting spoiled in a demo discussion thread.

So this Spike character. Is he supposed to be some sort of drug addict/dealer who deals in sea snails? He's hidden in a back alley, he makes deals with you for these things, and on one side of him there are sea snails that seem to be shaking as if they're afraid, and on the other side, there's just empty shells....

So I'm sure this was discussed but what are people's thoughts on the number of additional maps?

The number of colored slides that were shown after the three visible staged was 6. It would make sense for stages to divided into three packs and a total amount of 14 stages is on the very high-end for a multiplayer shooter.

The way the disclaimer text at the bottom of the Direct said the updates were planned through Summer 2015 makes me think we're going to start getting this content quickly after launch.

Especially as the narrator made it seem like stages and gear were part of smaller updates leading to the large one in August which is almost the end of summer.

Yes, there will be a total of 14 maps for free by August. That is a great number in my opinion. Especially since the different modes change up the way you play on each of them significantly. We know there will be at least 4 modes by then as well. So lots of variation.

There's always the possibility for further maps as well either for free or as paid DLC. Either way it's a good number. Based on what we've seen I would say at least a couple of those post-launch maps are done (or would be done by launch day but weren't before the game went gold) and they just want to space release a bit to keep a steady flow of new content.

It must be said I get simultaneously excited and nervous when a game I heavily look forward to is confirmed to have its review copies sent in

I do hope the reception is good

The earlier they're sent, the more confidence nintendo has in the product.
