If the objective is to cover as much ground as possible then yes the roller has a huge advantage. One of my matches in SaltSpray rig I was 3-0 (3kills, 0 deaths). The key is my deaths, I was avoiding most altercations altogether and just covering as much land as possible, because I knew In most circumstances I'd probably lose without being sneaky. Looking at my map periodically and super jumping or getting to areas where some ground could be gained.

I think I did a lot better with roller in Salt spray Rig than in Warehouse got 1300 as highest game. Roller is pretty boring to use though, favourite weapon is still splatter shot.

I hate how there's not really anything to do in a Roller vs. Roller situation except just accept that it'll be a double KO.

And the thing I hate most about double KOs is that the game seems to randomly decide who pops second and splatters their ink, and it seems to always randomly choose me, giving the other team the advantage.

Just back off and flick paint at them while they run at you.

I can't wait until the full release, when any class will be able to rock any super weapon.
No one will suspect a Splat-charger with the shield.

While it's great for high ground control and distance fighting, the charger's true menace is its ability to quickly create paths of ink, either to cut off an enemy's exit strategy, or to give the team an easy way to advance into enemy ink territory. It's tempered by the obvious problems of being super bad in a fire-fight, and being the really circumstantial at direct ink coverage. You have to be hard into support in order to get anything out of Splat-Charger, and most teams only really need one Charger.

I can't stress this enough, if you're a Splat-charger, and the high ground is too chaotic (or too boring, don't just camp there when there's nothing left to paint) to hold, then go create paths for your team.

Say I am the orange team. Is it possible to access the area outlined in green?

I like how many complaints people have in this game can be fixed by

1) read the manual to learn ALL the controls

2) check the options to adjust aiming/turn off motion controls

3) stop asking for pro controller support and look at the gamepad during play to see why its very useful

4) shoot the guy with the melee weapon before he gets close

I'm convinced the splattershot is the best weapon for the testfire. It's great for pvp and solid at spreading ink. The grenades are pretty decent too, but the super isn't as impressive.

Can't. Even in the full game, weapons are assigned specific supers and subweapons.

Possible? Yes. You need to get really close to the spawn point though.
Will? Depends on how good you are.
EDIT: Nevermind, guess you can't

Well, that was a lot harder than at 4am, but I've finally got a handle on the Splatterguns jr! Might like it a but more than the Roller now actually.

Still not into the Charger though. I play too aggressively for it, and it's rubbish at both short range and for area coverage.

Really hope there's more variety in the main game though. It's hugely fun, but I'm already very bored of those two maps. Hopefully the single player content has some decent meat to it, and there's a decent number of multiplayer modes. Saying more stuff is coming really won't be good enough if this is all it's going to really be for months.

Still excited though.

I think it was you I was talking to in another thread

if so you were right, only left and right movement on the stick when the gyro controls are on. man, I hope they change that. I did much better once I upped the camera sensitivity to 3, though. I'd still prefer a full hybrid option.

Anyone else think that the gyroscope controls are terrible?

Having not one, not two, but three inputs controlling camera rotation (right analog stick, gyroscope, and Y button, which you constantly have to use to "recalibrate", since you're waving your controller around to aim) is way too confusing for me.

Next window I need to figure out how to switch to just using the right analog stick to aim. How well that works will probably determine whether I buy this.

I really don't like the Killer Whale. Takes forever to set up and its cone of influence seems super narrow. Just not a weapon I'm interested in using.
Like the charger, I expect it'll be much more effective in Ranked modes where the objectives are smaller.

Tried all four weapons and can't reall decide which one I like the most. I'll probably just play with every weapon a little.

I had so much fun with this testfire. Can't wait for the full game. Didn't have so much fun in a loooong time.

Would it be possible to get a loadout that has roller and bubbler. I think that would be broken seeing how supers are charged by how much new ink you put on the ground.

Still love the roller tho.

It might be difficult (like a Pyro/Medic combo in TF2 essentially), but Bubbler is countered by slowing down the enemy with your own ink until it runs out. Which makes it probably less of an issue with the roller, since you can simply out-range them and stick them to the ground. Easier said than done, of course.

(Now that I think about it, there are so many similarities between this game and TF2. They even have Payload mode! Would love to see a medic equivalent; that's my jam).

This should be added to the OP and futur OT :D

You can press + to switch Options while selecting a weapon.

Don't worry tho, Gyros aren't doing it for me too. Can't get around the inverted-Y axis.

<3 Number 4.

Guys, I need help on killer wail. I can't seem to figure out how to use it when my special is full and I just default to throwing grenades. Do you hold the button down or something? I have no issue with any of the other special weapons I have used.

Waving?
Constantly recalibrating?

You are doing it wrong.

Click the right stick

Anyone else feels like it's impossible to correctly aim with the sniper weapon with the gyro controls ?

Also, the roller weapon is too strong, both for PvP and for spreading ink.

Stop pressing the Y button. I pressed it once this session.

Get into a comfy position, press it once. Forget about it.

Tap right stick, then your inkling will pull it out, then hit zr to lay it down

Your meter has to be full before you can use it

is there a simple way to figure out which walls you can climb and use to reach higher platforms? I often found myself stuck on the upper edge...

Nah, gyro is really good. It's a strafer's dream.

I never used Y once.

You have to hit the right stick to activate it. You carry it and then I think you hit RB/RT to set it down.

It's easy to think that it's going to function much like any other mp sniper rifle, but the game is so fast-paced that you have to keep up with it. Camping's not really an option, you have to move a lot, ideally moving from high ground to high ground, although the stealth/climbing really does help a Charger user.

I think that the main issue is that there's a huge risk when using it. If you miss one shot, you're fucked. It's definitely a higher skill cap.

Doesn't seem like it, but climeable and non-climeable are made of different materials so it'll probably end up like portal, where when you play enough you can tell at a glance.
