Saw this on twitter, thought it was neat

Lots of buzz on my TL. Seems like people liked it. Really looking forward to the single player

Anyone else really love the music during matchmaking? I know there's not a huge reggae fanbase on GAF, but the chill reggae vibe during matchmaking was fantastic. Hope there's more of that in the game. I liked the cheesy rock music as well.

Yes! I've been obsessed over that track since I first heard it when Treehouse was demoing last E3. Someone on tumblr had recorded that short bit with the song with no crowd or voice but I lost the link. I really need an OST of this game.

Ugh. I'm going to be at work during the second play test, freaking overnight shifts. I'll be on my lunch as soon as it starts ;_; have fun late night GAF.

I'm worried a lack of voice chat combined with no parties until August may kill any chances of there being competitive community.

Squidboards is already a thing, so I wouldn't be worried. A lot of the prominent Smash people are already on the case organizing stuff.

If there was some sort of Amiibo bundle with the game for NA, or just any physical bonus, then physical would be an easy decision.

Awesome, glad someone else loved it too. Really haven't paid any attention to the music in this game, which I guess I should have, but I instantly loved that track. If you happen to find the link I'd love to hear what they whole song sounds like. Matchmaking usually went pretty quick in this first hour so I probably haven't heard all of it.

I thought the 2 minute length per match was fine though being able to change it is something I wouldn't be opposed to.

Wouldn't be surprised if they hosted some kind of Splatoon tournament at E3.
That'd be great. The Smash tournament was already a good push for Smash last year. Splatoon needs all the help and word of mouth it can get.

The biggest problem with competitive splatoon is the entry fee for local multiplayer 8 Wii U's and games. At least the netcode isn't shiet

After playing for an hour earlier, I'm completely sold on Splatoon. I love the way it looks, sounds, and feels (though admittedly, I think I may do without the gyro controls when I have the chance).

I was very interested in the game before, but now having played it, I'm all for it. I pre-ordered it as soon as the Testfire was over.

The only way I see it possible is to only make online tourneys, and that'll likely only be possible after the August update. Unless they give us the 8 player local multiplayer the way they did it at E3, and the whole tourney would prob be ran on only those 8 wiiu setups.

Wow, there's people on there talking about how they stayed on the tutorial mode to not get disconnected at midnight and practice movement. Guess they're going to get good lol

You mean the same with any competitive shooter?

Why is the thought on roller being OP so contrasting? Seems either food think it's balanced perfectly, or over powered to the moon. I didn't get a chance to play so I have no opinion.

It's a noob killer weapon, everyone is a noob in their first hour, and people are quick to jump to conclusions. See: Little Mac in smash 4.

Seems kinda pointless, outside of doing once to climb up a wall. You can see how much better it is to just to shoot a line and go through that than do the jump shoot thing. You move faster, cover more ground with ink (which is the main objective of the game) and in turn, have more ink to hide in.

Seems like it would be an ok escape option, but yeah, looks cool but utility is limited.

You can swim around in the ink without being seen. You must not go full speed. Tilt the stick only half-way. Try it out later.

This game looked pretty damn nice too. Some of the footage in trailers was worrisome but 60fps makes a world of difference.

In high level competitive play, Splat Zones, Turf Wars, or otherwise, it'll probably be critical for roll outs to gain stage control. Get your quick units into position as quick as possible, with your Roller+Pocket bringing up the rear, covering ground. Saving a few seconds to secure a choke point and the beat opponent to an area could be critical.

Until the person just shoots where you're going to land and then you're completely fucked in the middle of enemy ink.

But it doesn't even seem faster, just look at the beginning of the gif.

People think it's OP because it's a one hit kill if you run someone over with it. If you can get up close to someone with it, they're done.

I wouldn't say it's balanced perfectly, but I also wouldn't say it's nearly as OP as some people seem to think.

The game needs serious balancing, the team I was on won 11 out of 12 matches. The paint roller is unstoppable when used correctly though I only used it 4 times. The sniper rifle players were always at the bottom of the score charts so more points for kills, less for area cover. Players figured this out quickly, paint rollers were grossly overrepresented in my games (5 out of 8 players in half my matches).

It also covers terrain like nothing else. I got over 1300 points in a match by just running around where nobody else was with the paint roller, didn't get a single kill. I don't know the totals, but I'd say most likely all my highest scoring games were with the paint roller.
