Damn, I was really looking forward to Splatoon, but I don´t have a TV at this moment (moved recently to another country) so I´ll have to wait until I buy one ;_;

I downloaded the Testfire Demo and anything, only to find out that you can´t only use the gamepad...

After watching a bunch of livestream archives I've realized how painful and frustrating it is to watch people suck at this game. Like players not covering any area in ink, passing up huge opportunities for coverage, not use super jump at all, etc.

That's not fair. People are getting used to the game.

So can someone tell me whether you can play with friends or not in this? I know that there are no friend lobbies, but can you do like what you do in Mario Kart where you can join a friend who is already playing a match?

No friend matchmaking till release

ummm ... yeah... okay...

i'm about to have my first session in thirty minutes. can't wait. i plan to use this time to learn the ropes. i'm not in it for glory. enjoy the livestreams of my fuddling about.

It might not be fair but that doesn't make it any easier to watch. It's like watching someone play MK8 and they keep driving off the course. In this case though, beyond not knowing about features it seems some streamers don't understand the win criteria of turf war.

Alright, almost the time for me to test this.
I'll make a girl and probably suck, getting a bit anxious but hope everything will go well/will be fun.
I usually hate PvP games but this one is different as the primary objective is to paint the most ground.

This time I'll try the Splatter Jr. Had a lot of fun with the regular splattershot, and even the charge rifle was fun, but very hard to use effectively. I guess it will become way more useful in the ranked battles.

The game is a riot, but still no voice chat is a huge letdown for me. At the very least we'd need some HUD notification to call for help or point out enemies to coordinate with randoms.

Any tips from people who've gotten to play already?

I would say try out all the weapons, play with and without gyro, and NEVER opt to play again at the end of the match. 90% of the time I got stuck in the lobby searching for another match. But when I backed out to pick a different weapon and q'd up again I would get into another match instantly.

Was wake up at 5 in the morning to play it - EU time - and it was greater than my previous sessions with the E3 build. Ready for another one. This time I'll let the son give it try. I'm sure he'll stick with gyro, he really liked the Nintendoland Metroid game.

I did it..I translated a text about work time in japan and europa right in time to be able to play in 20 minutes :D! I hope I see/shoot some of you <3

My 10 year old stayed up late last night and was enjoying it. (Looks like I know what he'll want to play next lol)

It looked really cute. While we enjoy Garden Warfare and its cutesy combat, this was a slight difference as the primary objective was to paint the area and then to defend said area or go on the attack of the other team's area and try to hold them back.

Oh that's odd,

is this a shared experience that other people have noticed as well?

Alrighty, I've stayed up and am tired as fuck. Ready to play in 15 minutes!

A quick question as I find it hard to search this thread. Is the online play on the demo stable or there are many disconnects?
I asked earlier and people were saying it was really stable, virtually legless. Occasionally hard to actually get into a match, but otherwise all good.

I'd suggest trying out the splattershot first to get a feeling for the controls, and the maps.

Never go for kills unless it means you can claim turf while doing so.
During the last minute: Disregard the enemy team completely unless you encounter them. Cover their ink whenever possible
if you're using the charge rifle, be aggressive and don't camp too long, you're only dragging your team down otherwise. Best strategy for me was to ride shotgun with a paintroller and keep his back safe.

In time people are going to dominate this game using very advance tactics. Thank goodness they are doing groups of 4 vs 4 cause if it was premade vs soloq, it would be an ink bath.

The online was stable for me the entire way through except one player seemed to have lagged. I was shooting them, but it didn't kill them, but then after a while, they stopped moving towards the wall due to lag and it gave me the kill.

Probably a temporary loss of connection

This testfire handles so much better than other high profile game launches. I wonder how many people joined in last night.

I was even playing against people from Japan and it was smooth man.

My internet's been shit since the storms here in Australia, I managed to dl the thing but I don't think my connection is gonna be stable enough to play it :(

yeah it was crazy how smooth everything was. I didn't have a single issue until the very end but I think that's because the demo was over. one of my matches just cut off and then I couldn't get into another one because it was midnight. other than that I didn't notice a single issue. no lag, no frame rate dips.

crazy
