Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Question. What's the best level to grind upgrade orbs? I have all the Amiibo. I'm a close to finish with the games and the Amiibo levels and looks like I'll still be over 1500 short and the end of everything.

I'm guessing the Kraken ones? The first one?

Why?

Lag or do you suck against them?

Both. I suck against them because unless you have your own personal Kyle Reese it's impossible to defend against someone killing you FROM THE PAST.

Seriously, sick of just instantly dying and the camera zooming over to show a Japanese player with a charger and absolutely no possible line of sight on my corpse. Any time I see my opposition is four Japanese names I know it's a loss for my team.

I've got a new mode for games!

There's 25 Flags on the field and you have to grab them and take them to your base.

It'll perform like CTF, but the flags are all there at once in the map and don't respawn.

Hire Me, 343i!

So I feel like I should give Splatoon a new gamemode aswell:

How about having 9 Splatzones near the center of the map.

These are laid out in a 3x3 pattern.

But not all at once, they come one at a time.

Where you have to spray ink in the zone and then have to hold it for 10-20 seconds.

Then a new one pops up until all 9 are done.

2 ways to win: 3 in a row or whatever team has the most at the end.

Hire me, Nintendo.

I never have this problem with players from Japan also ofcourse the person who killed you wouldn't be standing in the same place when they shot you.

Who are the Splatoon streamers to watch on Twitch at current? (Links would be appreciated)

I like http://www.twitch.tv/xiei/profile Japanese-american player in Japan.

I also watch http://www.twitch.tv/pksparkxx cause i like to see him lose.

Spread the 8 to all different corners of the map with one in the center and win by tic-tac-toe rules.

YES! I was thinking this too! Because the map geometry won't fit the format that well.

But I still think they should not all be at once or else it'd be a bit crazy.

Hence why I said 1 at a time.

Hell, you can even make it 2 at a time, like the East and West active at the same time, the North and South aswell to give you a choice: Go to the square closer to you or try to snatch their point?

Then the last one is dead centre for the lulz.

Hire me and Lyrick as my assistant!

This would be absolutely godlike for a future game with more than 4v4 on a map. :lol

Hire Azure for our voice of reason! More players!

Yeah, of course. I'm talk behind a building, around a corner, twice their weapon's range away by the time the camera pans to them.

Lag when playing Japanese players is not something that's up for debate or open to interpretation, it's just a thing that happens. If you're not experiencing it then well done, you're in a tiny minority. I'm sure it's just as annoying for them as it is for us, mind.

Gah! If Splatoon were fee-to-pay, people would be buying so many coins with actual cash to try and get that. That's basically the ideal setup, imho.

Do 3x Swim Movements make up for the Ninja Squid swim nerf? Probably. Man, what a great setup.

Wait what? Oh do you mean the built in slow?

I doubt it's the tiny minority that don't lag with Japanese players, it's most likely the opposite. I've heard way more people say they don't lag against Japanese players than those that do. I live in the UK which has terrible internet compared to the rest of the modern world and is further away from Japan than NA however I never lag with Japanese players.

All of that?

If I am in the tiny minority I would have heard this a lot more in this thread by now. Your examples would make this game unplayable especially how much Japanese players they are in every game.

I am not saying it is not possible but it could be your connection.

Is anyone else seeing extreme lag like that against japanese players?

I didn't face that, but I have many times died after 1~2 seconds of killing a Japanese Player. Mutual-lag killing is pretty common in rooms of only JP players. My connection isn't all that great, though, so I dunno.

I'd say it's down to his connection too as far as I'm concerned. I've had lag here and there but not that often and not that bad. Probably helps that I have a hundred Meg connection though.

Really hoping they release a new game mode at E3, the game is starting to get kind of stale for me. Can only play splat zones and turf war for so long lol

The japanese players lag a little bit for me, but not enough to be unplayable. Most of the time it's fine. But I've faced worse with people who don't have japanese names. Like 5 second death/teleport lag. Guy dies. 5 seconds later. "You splatted corey!"

Yeah i've had a similar experience. It's always hilarious when you know its coming. "i know that guy just hit me with a roller, but i'm still aliv..." dead.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with my connection and I'm using a wired connection on the U. Lag against Japanese players gets brought up quite often in this thread, it's really not that uncommon. I'm not talking about 'extreme' lag, I'm talking enough to make certain shots impossible from my perspective.

Say I swim between two crates and into cover in Port Mackerel, I'll get hit by someone sniping down between the crates despite having been in cover for a couple of seconds on my screen. Or someone seemingly one shotting/instakilling me with a weapon which doesn't do that.

At the moment, I don't think Splatoon is a game we can say is being dominated by Japanese players. I'm speaking from personal experience and the experiences of others across this thread and other sites.

Lag isn't even bad in this game to me. Sure, I get lag sometimes, but that's like 10 matches out of the hundred I've played.

If you've not had any lag when facing a Japanese roller you're either very lucky or a liar :p

Lag is in every game no matter what, but what he is describing I never got.

I did get the lag roller tho, like 1 second after death.

Never twice the distance of a sniper death or living a full 5 seconds from a weapon other than a roller death.

Oh well. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Same here. I have no rtage yet in Splatoon from lag but I have in BF and COD or any other shooter.

I wonder if Japanese Splatoon players are in a forum somewhere complaining about American laggers

Probably, a couple of times I've splatted Japanese players who've been running on the spot and known that they've been insta-splatted on their screen.

It sucks for everyone involved when it happens, a regional mode would be a great option for everyone, really.

to be fair it's not like they shoot through walls, they hit you when they had a clear a line of sight and it just takes the game a second or two to process it to while you moved into cover. I'm sort of an expert on this matter

Nintendo should release the custom E-Liter next, I want to experiment with it. Echolocator is nice and all but I prefer it if my teammates have it, I want to splat people with my specials damnit. My suggested loadout - grenades/seeker/sprinkler for sub, Inkzooka or Inkstrike for specials

With the Wii U userbase it would be a terrible ideal.

People would be complaining about waiting in lobbies for minutes looking for players.

It is happening already.

Higher ranks are like >80% Japanese for me, no matter the time, so they're certainly dominating there. Of course the insane >5 second laggers are few and far between, that's just people with ass connection, but the fastest connection in the world isn't gonna magically make the 200-300ms latency from NA/EU to Japan disappear. That's the norm and if you don't notice the effects of such a high latency in a fast shooter like Splatoon I don't know what to say.

I want to cry. I've been stuck in B for ages and even dropped to B-......

Fucks sake.

I didn't cry dropping from B- to C+ and almost dropping from C+ to C within the same losing streak.

In reality, I don't think B- is that hard, but I think I need to try out new weapon setups. Using the .52/Seeker/Inkstrike got me out of the C ranks, into the B-, and back to C+.

Why would a lot of diminished returns be an ideal setup?

I quite regularly play matches where I am the only non-Japanese player. Don't notice the lag so much as I am in the UK but those peeps are bloody good anyway.

After being slightly nauseated by that Sonic Boom thread about how fantastic the cartoon is doing, I can't help but pop over here and feel like Nintendo needs to make a Splatoon animated series.

This is a cast with incredible style, and there's no reason why some atrophied gaming icon should be dominating kids' television instead of something a bit more... fresh.

From the video on abilities (Based off the strategy guide), diminishing returns only seems to be a main ability thing. All the sub abilities are a set amount (1/3 the effectiveness of the first main ability).
