Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

This has probably been discussed to death, but are people finding the gyro useful? I'm playing with it on, and it seems fine (better for quickly covering the cone of vision in front of me, more or less).

Wait wait, that looks like Azure J, but he's not holding a brush.

Yeah I was shocked for a second I thought I had ink in my eyes

Right when you say that I get disconnected

Edit: I think we all got disconnected on that one

Sorry guys, had to leave to pick up food earlier but I asked my brother to help me grind some cash while I was out. :lol

Rule of thumb: Brush or Splat-o-matic (very rarely) = me.

I've not played any shooter on console before this and honestly it took me about two days t get used to it. Honestly it's pretty good once you get the hang of it - only problem for me is cramps on my hands till I get used to this. Usually I play games with the Pro Controller so wasn't used to the weight of the Game Pad. Now that I'm used to it's quite alright and for Roller I'd say the Gyro is the only way to go.

Uh oh, there might be a maintenance for 10 hours in 2 hours.

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/netinfo/en_US/index.html

Maybe Nintendo already started in my area. =P

Seriously though, I can't get on any Nintendo service right now. Reset the router and modem, wired my Wii U, changed the DNS to Google's, etc. Nothing. Oh well.

Smash doesn't work, friends list doesn't work, eShop doesn't work, etc. Too bad, I don't think I can hop online after this hour, and the maintenance happening in the next 2 hours kind of stings a bit. Heh.

Well hopefully it improves the connections in the game, whatever it is they're doing.

There's also a 2 hour maintenance tomorrow from 3-5pm PST (6-8pm EST) for the same thing.

Most of you guys know I normally use analog, but I'm trying out gyro right now. Has anyone who has tried both feel more slippery when using gyro I don't know why this would affect my movement but I feel like I'm sliding at times

Edit: I leave for two seconds to change my weapon and I'm now sitting two matches out, they really need to allow you to switch weapons in between matches

I had the chance of going against mostly A-ranked players, and I did much better than when I was only going against the B-ranked people, despite the fact that I'm B-ranked. Strange. It's probably because I kept on getting stuck with really bad teammates.

Also, the connectivity problems and lag were super annoying today.

Not letting you change loadouts while waiting for a new match is *insane*.

I'll repost this here (because this thread is toxic):
Back to Splatoon dump. The best part of this for me is the sound directory has been dumped (because Nintendo don't seem to release soundtracks). The game is 44kHz audio so maybe Nintendo finally understood they are not using 1.3GB discs anymore so can go above the 32kHz they usually set. A number of the tracks are multichannel challenges (some with >=4 sound channels* for ambient effects, inkopolis plaza is interesting in that it is 13 mono tracks whose volume levels change based on environment)

*-Well, the shops (all one track..getting flashbacks to Hyrule Warriors) and single player.

Music spoilers splatfests (might be common knowledge already, not been keeping up with JP splatfest coverage)
Splatfests has its own stage opening, stage theme (only one, think it was in a promo video) complete with last minute tune. The last minute tune is basically the normal one but Jpop Squid sisters. I'm guessing these might be the tracks missing in the sound test.

I figured people here might appreciate that more.

Hey guys!

New player, just made it to level 4 within like an hour. Holy moly this is outrageously fun!

I would love to play with some GAF folk, and I've looked over the spreadsheet but WOWZA that's a lot of people. I sent some people some requests but eventually my eyes hurt from typing in so many names lol. Soo, if anyone is looking to add more people to their list, please feel free to add me: theCheska. I did also add myself to the spreadsheet as well.

Thanks so much, I look forward to playing with you guys!

That datamine thread...

Gonna stay away from a lot of the leaks to keep myself surprised, but some of those weapons sound lovely.

Welcome. General advice is just to add people who are posting often in this thread. Once you get into a lobby or two you'll be able to add a lot more people and get into games easier because you can add people who you recently played with in the friends menu.

I haven't tried Smash or Mario Kart, but the internet browser works. It started having issues right after the map rotation. Then again, I started the game 2 minutes before the rotation, so I didn't get a match in.
I am playing some ranked just fine...
Damn so unlucky with my teams tonight, it's a sign I must stop playing and go work :(

This sounds fantastic! Are these sound dumps available anywhere for listening in its original sound quality? Can the mp3 handle surround sound?

i guess the issue is the traditional "BUT IT'S ON THE DISK!!!1!11!1!!!" cries?

I do understand to some extent the disappointment over the method, but Nintendo's been as transparent as possible on how they're rolling out the stuff over time. The only thing I feel kinda blows is that matchmaking/private rooms weren't a available immediately thing. (More after this match.)

Isn't it 118-0502? If so, try again. This can happen during matchmaking if a remote player's machine has firewall issues as well.
Nope, it had 101, not 118.

Either way, I tightened the connections on the modem and the friends list loaded. Gonna try Splatoon now.

Edit: now it's 106-0502 on Splatoon and 001-0502 on Smash 3DS. =/
Edit 2: Friends list is back down. Gonna try for another 20-30 minutes.

I'm just confused as to why people are salty about the drip feed when Nintendo explicitly said that's what they were doing with it to generate interest.

Nintendo putting out the expectation has nothing to do with whether or not it was the right decision in the eyes of the audience.
