Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Hmm they are nerfing my two main abilities. I guess ink resist up nerf is actually a good thing now that everybody is using it, since other weapons benefit more from it than I do. Not sure how I feel about ninja squid, in most situations stealth is better than speed but the race to mid in the beginning is vital on some maps.
The problem with Ninja Squid right now is that its swim speed reduction is so small that it might as well not exist. There should be a noticeable, but not crippling, trade-off for using it.

Its -1/2 the effect of a main swim speed up. So it cant be negligible considering that people run swim speed up for utility. That being said, if they make it -1 swim speed up, the stealth essentially becomes a 2 main slot ability in order to run it with no down sides.

A single swim speed up is negligible. The only people still using it as a main ability are those who just assumed Nintendo wouldn't make a jank ability and therefore haven't actually looked at the tests.

EDIT: Seriously, Ninja Squid is what, 95% speed? Sorry, but I think most people would consider that a pretty insignificant penalty. And while Swim Speed Up *can* make a difference, it only does so over long distances.

Oh, GGs, GAF. And especially GGs, Heng. My highlight of the night was surviving your bubble. =P

Keep practicing that Charger, Ivan. I want an all Charger GAF room when the August update hits. =D

GG and GG to anyone else that left early.

Gonna take a break

Have to admit, those incoming nerfs hurt my current set up. Love my Ninja Squid and Ink Resistance. Tried Sheath Jump, but Ink Resistance works better with my playing style. Hopefully, the nerfs won't hurt too much.

New Weapons inbound!

The Carbon Roller and Custom Dual Squelcher will be made available for free from tomorrow morning.

We have no experience with either but the Custom Dual Squelcher sounds amazing

By tomorrow morning, they mean 3am GMT, so same time as usual! 19 hours to go!

We need new maps though!

EDIT:

Datamine Info:

Carbon Roller - Burst Bombs & Inkzooka

Custom Dual Squelcher - Squid Beakon & Killer Wail

I think it's the Carbon Roller Deco's Seeker Bomb Rush that we're all really waiting for, but the vanilla one should do just fine for now. So hyped

Xeteh: Vanilla carbon's burst bomb and inkzooka

That was... remarkably close for having two disconnects
Unfortunately. =(

Must've DC'd near the end.

Edit: That was interesting. I wonder how well that loadout would do in a GAF room.

Edit 2: The theory is to use a lot of Bomb Throws Up to lob Splat Bombs VERY far. Three mains and 2 subs lets me throw them at just shy of a max E-Liter charge.

Edit 3: I can see this set being useful in the Mall. =D Hopefully it's in rotation when I'm available.

The Carbon roller looks sick. Wonder if it'll have unique stats.
We already know some stat0rz: http://vm.whatasha.me/splatoon/files/wep_values/

It's the RollerCompact by going through process of elimination. By comparing it to the other rollers we know some things:

1) Max splash damage is the same as the other big rollers.
2) However, its range is shorter.
3) It will swing fast bruh
4) It will also go a bit faster when rollin'
5) But it will have a smaller width

might be interested in the carbon roller. i actually have been using aerospray rg rather exclusively for a while now, though. the dual squelcher sounds like cheating.

Carbon Roller looks interesting, I hope it has the same range as the Dynamo. My only issue with that weapon is that its sub and special have little synergy with the weapon, so having a special that can take care of long distance targets and a sub that doesn't consume 90% of your ink would be a lot nicer.

I can see no faults in that strategy.

In all honesty, playing rollers takes practice. It takes a bit of mind games to lure people to where you can splat them as they chase. I've been working on my roller game off and on and I still feel like I have a lot to improve.

Yeah I play pretty much every weapon (think it's weird to just play one all the time) but roller requires the most thinking. It's a fun class. I didn't like it at first but the more I played it the more I realised the gap between a good roller and a bad roller is bigger than any other weapon.

Hm, I expected a new map today. It's been a week hasn't it? So odd that we're already getting a new weapon update only two-three days after the Luna.

Carbon Roller sounds like fun, maybe I'll pick up the good old roller again.

I can see this roller becoming the anti sniper specialist with the inkzooka, same goes for the burst bomb, cool sub and special :). Now it's time to earn some golds... got robbed by Spike once more :(.

Damn, it's hard to try different equipment, i like my run speed up gear. I feel so slow when using certain weapons without it.

Very noticeable when using the Nozzlenose at least.

- Ink Resistance was too good and probably everyone except Chargers were using it in higher Ranks
- Ninja Squid is also an ability I though was OP, since it didn't seem to slow you too much but now it's virtually useless for Krak-On Rollers and other Kraken users
- Not sure why Ninja Jump is being nerfed - that ability is just for Kamikazes especially with the nerf to Ink Resistance
- Kraken nerf was expected

Pretty much nerfing a lot of things I specialize in, thankfully I have alternative gears especially for the shirt and can change my Kraken gameplay to ensure I'm not completely useless.

Still playing this over Yoshi yesterday.
I like grinding in this game lol, I grind every gear I can get my hands on and I'm also in the process of buying & testing every weapon.
I prefere this over ranked, even if I will eventually get back to it and try to get a B rank.

Hmm, maybe Burst Bombs for attacking around corners and over walls? Can't see much use on a faster swinging roller otherwise.

Have you ever used a Burst Bomb on a wall? It would take 1-2 Burst Bombs to fully paint a wall or pipe to get over it. I'm using Blufin's island walls and Urchin's side entrance wall as an example. Now imagine painting those with just flicks. It's much faster to do so with the BBs. Whenever I had Burst Bombs and Red was on my team at the Skatepark, I would go straight to the Tower, bomb the sides, and let him take the top while I went on the sides. It was faster than having him paint it himself.

By sides, I mean the wall facing the spawns, not the ramp. =P

How much slower is the new Ninja Squid going to be? I'm gonna stick with it anyway because my Inkling is all about the fashion rather than abilities.
Also, I love the fact that I got quick respawn two times on the same piece of gear last night.

Those are mutually exclusive abilities; you can't have Stealth Jump and Ink Resistance at the same time. That's why Stealth Jump is so underused; because everyone and their grandma is busy using Ink Resistance.

Increasing the time before a stealth jump isn't neccessarily a pure nerf. There are ways to use the jump that rely on your target dieing before you get there

I don't have much experience with using it myself, but that makes sense. On the other hand it would make more sense on a slower swinging roller though. I guess it will also be useful in escaping through enemy ink.
