Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Use Azure J's strategy of running straight at a Carbon Roller and hoping they miss.
That sadly actually worked on me at first because my ink kept on going straight over his head.

For the last time, the intent wasn't to run straight at someone, it was to kindly tell you to fuck off because yay Gal gun two shots. Unfortunately, Carbon Roller flick is Dante's Hammer from Marvel vs. Capcom 3, (seemingly) invul and leads to bad times. :lol

I was in a three charger team in urchin underpass once and we won. Which weapon were you using?

Great games last couple of days. Stayed up last night and cut a couple videos. I got inspired playing with Azure and a bunch of randoms, so I'm going to be starting a series of gameplay videos, that are semi uncut long form takes of me playing against GAF and others. Eventually I plan on doing every weapon and maybe adding annotations on what I could've done better, but right now just starting with the ones I main and getting the footage cut.

This one is about the Inkbrush on Warehouse and Underpass:
https://youtu.be/QQHoNsagyD8

And this one is about the L-3 Nozzlenose one Warehouse, Underpass, Port and Mall:
https://youtu.be/kVe7rmWHk-c

Long form video of two rounds where I change up and adapt my L-3 technique for the Mall:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-ZtQGXWvv0

The last battle from the L-3 video caps off everything:

And another link to my twitch stream as it seems to be working out as a great spot for in between round jabbering.

Gonna spend now til maybe Splatfest working on Carbon Roller videos for map rotation purposes, hopefully catching Triggerfish in the process. Will be on in a bit.

Definitely interested in seeing more from this series but watching the Underpass video reminded me of something I had to mention but forgot about this past week. If I (or a brush user in general) get to the other side of the Underpass' main choke point (closest to the sloping entrance for the other team), our team wins. I noticed that in 90% of the matches I had there on Thursday (or was it Wednesday) that if I get there and throw a sprinkler on the utility pole closest to that side of the stage while defending the entrance, our team won with blowout effectiveness. I've never had a more consistent result on that stage before. The sprinker continues to generate harsh conditions for people coming in from the other team and since everyone comes in from different angles, it makes it so I can solo handle two to three entrances at the same time while the rest of my team paints the area before the choke point. Even more interestingly, I can actually press into the base very quickly after a certain point. It's so weird. Hyper aggressive but weird.

Also, throw a sprinkler somewhere where your team isn't covering as your first gambit as a brush user. It really helps you to accrue meter/points while running to the first objective.

Guys I'm lagging too much? I'm using my dads internet and it sucks a bit

Seemed fine to me. J on the other hand was lagging like crazy. Watching him roll and paint would appear like 5 feet behind him.

GGs guys

Has anyone ever had serious frame drops? Last night I was getting some serious slowdown, and it wasn't during something like a bomb rush or another super.

Last night in general was awful when I played: players dropping everywhere, paint lag, etc. I ended up quitting and going back to DMC4 (which I ended up finishing in that sitting).

Randoms? Because, yea, they move like cattle and very hardly remember the two other entrances instead opting for the main one as it has more ink to be covered. This is why I, as a nozzle or brush user, try to paint everything in our base first, because most of the time, the people that should be rushing are too busy in a corner painting something. Once they see the main base taken care of, they usually push for the mid, but man is it hard coaxing them, especially if they're used to playing with only randoms. They play so dangerously worrying about their own base, not even showing up to mid til a minute is left. This is also why I stopped using squid beacons, as randoms never look at the map.

Not really, a few dips but nothing major

I don't know if this was posted already, but Nintendo has released patch notes for a balance update coming this Tuesday.
Information:

On June 30, 2015, new update data for the Splatoon game will be available for download. Users will be required to download this update prior to using the software's online multiplayer features.

Update details:

Splatfest:
When there are more members on one team than the other and the match-making process takes too long, members from the same team will be able to battle each other
Members will still receive Splatfest Points even when they battle against members of the same team

Note: Only the results from matches against the opposing team will be included in the overall Splatfest results

Adjustments have been made to allow some players at random to participate as early as 5 minutes prior to the official start time of Splatfest in order to make for a more pleasant gaming experience (Note: All players will be able to participate once the event begins)
This adjustment was made to lighten the server load at the beginning of the Splatfest
Adjustments have been made to the number of Super Sea Snails distributed to members of the losing team that have earned either of the top two Splatfest rank titles

Special Weapon Adjustments:

Inkstrike: The amount of area covered will be more consistent regardless of where it lands
Kraken: The amount of knockback is increased when taking damage from an opponent while using Kraken

Ability Adjustments:

Ninja Squid: Swim speed will be lowered when using this ability
Stealth Jump: The amount of time it takes to Super Jump will be longer when using this ability
Ink Resistance Up: The effects with respect to the amount of damage and speed when moving through enemy ink will be adjusted

Other: Other adjustments will be made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience

Nah even in the GAF majority/full GAF rooms. The only time this strategy ever went disrupted were when Rocket (E-Liter range & ink paths bringing in the whole team) or SM239 (amazing at getting to places first) came through the other side before I got there first. Even then, the fights were far more even than the past where I couldn't get through the door before 3 people fucked me on the spot. :lol

When I played with randoms and a friend last night, the majority of the randoms were pretty solid. I generally got a team that went straight to the center and could fight competently. Occasionally there was Mr. sub-50 but they usually left after getting trashed. This was over the course of several hours, too.

I'll have to watch for that, but as it is, I don't even like sprinklers anymore as they take way too much paint and are only good for when you have time. My playstyle doesn't allow that, so they're essentially useless to me. I just end up jetting through them and call my team to the other side. No point in dying continuously for a little water faucet.

Word, check my videos, I'm catching level 3s on my team still.

Splatterscope, I've been in a lot of such games at Urchin Underpass. It's just a compact space that chargers have a natural disadvantage even in a neutral state. If you happen to control the middle then yeah sure, but any combination of weapons could also do that and would be better than one with 3 chargers. I'm also playing A ranked lobbies.

Just had two awesome matches with GuySloth, 1 as allied and against. Had the best feeling of co-work when we charged together a couple of times, and some really great duels against you. Had a grin on my face all the time, too bad I had to leave.

I feel so much better about my aim and movement as a charger, but I still feel like I'm too much about "find and kill" and not enough about directing teammates or locking down enemies.

Changed to Squiffer expecting to drop ranks, but turns out I'm much better with it than a standard charger. Not sure why, but it might have something to do with the ink consumption. You can just be more mobile with the squiffer when you don't have to worry about ink.

That always happens when I join a GAFer's room. I think the game has some sort of hidden rating system for Turf Wars that it uses for matchmaking and GAF peeps tend to play with other GAF peeps so their hidden rating gets all fucked up. Whereas my non-GAF friends don't do that (obviously) so their hidden rating is fine.

I've said this multiple times, but basically yes.

Bamboozler is going to be an interesting weapon. Charges twice as fast as a Squiffer, but doesn't OHKO. It might with Damage Up, or it'll have a cap at 99.9, just like the Rapid Blaster.

That would explain my 3-day losing streak. =/

Yeah, pretty much everytime I'm in a bad streak I step back and evaluate that I'm playing too aggressive. It's not hard to understand though, 30 years of gaming has taught me that seek and destroy is the correct way.

Don't look at your score, look at the teams. It's the only way you might be able to satiate that bloodlust.

Gonna be my go to charger. Probably treat it like a brush.

It has a longer range vs the Squiffer? Wow.
Wait, the range is the same charged and uncharged?

I think it would need to be to be effective if it can't kill in one it, Squiffers are outranged by both Splattershot Pros, the .96 Gal, and all Squelcher variations

this final boss is hard as fuck

Some tips:
- Use bombs to take care of the enemy-creating spawn bubbles
- Just avoid the little missiles, don't worry about blowing them up
- Don't rush the boss, give yourself a bit of room to maneuver. If you're too close to him things get more difficult.
- Keep your ink up.
- There are several shields in the level (orange boxes), make sure you get them to survive a hit.

Has anyone checked their activity log? I stream and idle but I'm starting to see why I might be sleeping on the couch soon.

Haven't played a game this much in almost 10 years.

this final boss is hard as fuck

I'm ashamed to admit I had to take a night off to finally beat him. That last section is crazy, then when you die you have to redo all of it. It's why I've never unlocked all the gear on the amiibos.

Added. Trying out chargers again.

I didn't know you were splatacus.

I am splatacus. Gonna turn on my stuff, be on in a sec.

Great, now my U is starting to act up. Has anybody run into an issue with it shutting itself down? Happened twice now, once in the lobby and again in the middle of a match :/

*edit: and now a 3rd time!
