Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

The inkzooka:
-Leaves you a vulnerable sitting duck
-Can't shoot down
-Has knockback which can knock you off a platform to your death
-Can't be used as a quick ink refill
-Is pitifully slow
-Has poor ink coverage

It's only real use is for getting people sitting on high ledges or people really far away who aren't paying attention.

Yes. Most of those points are true (a few are false), and my point still stands, strangely.

I've taken out whole teams with the thing so it works for me lol. I'm a sitting duck with a bazooka. I think I've only fallen off a platform once and it's mostly a non-issue. Echolocator would be my favorite overall just because it's not situational, doesn't put you at risk, and helps your whole team kill and stay alive.

My least favorite special would be inkstrike in turf war. Leaves you vulnerable and is mostly just a minor inconvenience for the opposition. Maybe you get lucky and land a kill. People like to wait till the end to use it which is nice but you run the risk of losing the inkstrike entirely if you die, forcing you to play less aggressively in the closing seconds.

God fucking fuck how many times am I going to play Saltspray Rig and have to defend the top portion against 2+ people at the beginning of the match. Everybody off doing whatever the fuck.
This is what got me annoyed. I actually managed to get to the top, but I needed help. Used the C'mon command (thanks NoA for the brilliant wording) and no one came. This happened 4 times. I got tired of it.

High ledges... and lane control, where it can turn the tide in an instant without exposing the user to any real danger.

If you think being able to send out whirling pillars of instant death makes you a 'sitting duck', then there's probably not much else I can say.

Yep. The thing is a monster on Port.

goddammit... all weekend, i've had d/c issues with every single match. i can join a roster just fine... start a game just fine... then about thirty seconds into the match, i d/c...very frustrating.... goddammit. never had this issue before.

my apologies to anyone who lost due my sudden absence in-game.

I hate it so much when I brush through a zone then use C'mon only for the enemy team to come instead of my own teammates. :lol

Also: Underpass and Kelp Dome for Turf Wars.

Even when on the opposite side of the inkzooka, I don't see it as a threat. Save for tight lanes, which aren't that common, they're very easy to approach and when you get in their face they can't do shit. I try to avoid using it as much as possible myself, it's just asking to be killed if you use it without a specific target in mind who doesn't already see you.

Lmao I just sat in the same spot by the enemy spawn the whole time that round and the same guy kept coming after me and got killed like 5+ times.

That's the point. You take care of the sniper from a long distance away and then move on.

...Uh yeah, that's kind of the entire point. You take care of the sniper from a long distance away and then move on.

My point is that no special is so situational. Every other special has multi-faceted uses.

For example, the Bubbler can be used to organize a push into enemy territory, but it can also be used as a panic button when you're about to die. The echolocator can be used to to seek out enemies to hunt down, but it can also be used to see if an area is empty before you jump into enemy ink. Or you can use it as a passive ink refill. The inkzooka can be used to pick off specific targets in specific locations...and that's it. It's not nearly as useful as any other special, especially considering the inkstrike can do the same job already.

Nope, still not good with a charger.

some tips:
-use gyro controls
-start with the Squiffer or Kelp Charger
-go to the test range and find out how long you have to charge to deal 100 damage to the training dummies. Try to shoot all 3 dummies in the lower corridor with 100 or slightly above 100 damage in one go (or 6 dummies when the others respawn)
-equip Damage Up gear, something like 2 Damage Up main and 3 Damage up main and two subs, then do the dummy test again to see if you can do this faster

-when you can't directly aim at an enemy, assist your team by creating ink trails to key positions on the map, and cut off enemy escape routes so you trap them in one spot

-position yourself so have a good view of the area you're supposed to cover that can not be easily reached by any other weapon, and take advantage of your range. If an enemy comes to you, make sure you have a relatively safe way to escape so you can get out of their range of fire and reposition yourself

-for close combat fights, the Squiffer will teach you how to do duel others with quick precise sniping and mobility, if you have blast bombs or splat bomb, they work mostly a detraction while you prepare your escape

Ohhh thanks for this, will give it another shot tomorrow.

The inkstrike is nowhere near as deadly as the zooka. It's just a highly deadly weapon. Maybe it's because you're playing with the super ninjas in the gaf room but I've won matches taking out the 2-4 of the enemy team with it.

Inkzooka launches very fast insta-kill projectiles that can be fired at multiple angles and pierces through multiple targets. Out of all the specials available today, it's probably the most reliable at eliminating at least 1 target, which might be all your team needs.

So, today I finally got to play again and the Luna Blaster is such a great weapon. It doesn't have the range, but the mini explosion can easily trap opponents. It felt great to pick off opponents hiding behind cover, plant a mine, then swim around and pick off another just as the third gets splatted by my mine. That was a great fight.

Finally!

(Yes, my sub-abilities are absolute trash. Spyke hasn't treated me well.)

Took me forever, but I finally got 99A+ :). Now I can rest easy and focus on Splatfest when it comes. What a fantastic game. So quickly my favorite IP Nintendo has to offer.

Communication error. =\

Oh well going to take a break for a bit. GGs all.

Also nice at GuySloth rolling with the power gear lol

We were losing 96-100 for a whole 4 minutes at Port Mackerel splat zone. We didn't have the force to break through two dynamo rollers on their side so it was at a stalemate for a while. Around the last minute mark, I managed to grab the other area for a second or two just by charging and filling it bit by bit from range inching forward using my e-litre making it 96-98. We almost had the advantage but not quite enough. Since we were going to lose anyway, in the last 15 seconds I charged forward to the other end from the splat zone to try to make a flanking attempt on the dynamos. Three of them saw my attempt and gave me no chance. Thankfully my other teammate snuck into the splat zone while I was doing all that and filled it up, giving us another precious 4 points to make it 96-94. They grabbed it back like one or two seconds before the end, but the game was ours. Things are awesome when they work out, can't imagine how the other team felt though.

Then the next game my team lost horribly and decisively. Ah well.
