Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I got myself to Level 20 and B rank on ranked battles~!

I'm feeling good, and I love the Gold Dynamo Roller for ranked battles. Tactical Inkstrikes have secured my teams victories.

Got my copy yesterday. Might play this weekend. Are there some sort of community rooms, or do you just join people via your friend lists? I see a few Mario Kart people here.

Join people on your friends list until the room is filled with gaf members. That's how it works.

Looking forward playing with you. We have to wait until August for private lobby but you can join your friends but not in ranked matches.

Well unless you have at least one person on your team going full Rambo while everyone else paints it's pretty hard to get a KO in ranked. I usually try to fill whatever role seems to be vacant on my teams but a lot of times it feels like no one knows what they want to do. I'm still up in the air over whether voice chat would make that problem better or worse :/

There do seem to be some unusually well coordinated teams once you get to B rank though.

The problem is: Everyone wants to be the carry. But you obviously lose a game about map control if everyone runs around just looking for kills. Sure, it gives you a couple of seconds, but if no one uses them to actually pursue the goal of the match then kills really mean nothing.

In Splatzones they mean seconds and seconds should win you the game or at least make it a close game - instead we get K.O.-ed. The thing is I cannot spectate my own games to see what went wrong. Having a replay feature would be awesome.

After the Splatfest Promo i really expect a replay mode after E3.

I would love a tactical mode in which each team is forced to use: a charger, a splatshooter, a roller, a brush

Sometimes I feel it's pointless to use any other weapon than the roller.

So... generally I guess the idea is to avoid this happening in the first place, but what do you guys do if your team wipes? Which is to say, everyone on your team dying simultaneously, or within about 10 seconds of each other. Do you try and pair yourself up with someone else to do a combined push? Or try to sneak around and steal territory that the enemies will hopefully neglect?

I find a team wipe to be the absolute worst situation in Splatoon, and unfortunately for me this happens pretty often in randoms unless I hold myself back. That's basically 10+ seconds of the enemy getting to ink everywhere and with no place for the team to converge outside of the spawn point.

The roller guy take care of covering the most surface, splatters open the way for the roller, charger defend friend zone (mostly statics).

Not sure if a team of chargers would stand a chance against a team of rollers.
How much experience do you have with the roller?

other way around, I'd say

you need ink for ambushes, otherwise they're just sitting ducks

Man, I really want to play Splat Zones unranked. The ranked system makes me so mad but I really like Zones. (It'd be better if it was crazy king, contractually obligated message of the day)

I just want to play it with friends. The game has two multiplayer modes and I can't play half of them with my friends. Why is this?

Rollers should be slower :/, they need have something to offset all their advantages.

Non-lagging rollers already suck enough. They're fine as they are.

Really loving the Dual Squelcher with echo locator and clothes that massively increase my special charge rate. I get that shit charged within 10 secs of a round starting. The sub weapon rarely gets kills but is good suppression

Yea, I would like an unranked option to play with friends. I'm still surprised they don't have friend lobbies from the start.

Hey everyone, I asked this last night but it got buried really quick.

What the hell is up with the additional time that appears under the normal timer in ranked? I understand overtime but I'm having a hard time figuring out the additional time that gets added on.

And how do I see my picture I posted to Miiverse? It's really funny and I want a picture, haha.

Thanks!

I honestly think that many things (lack of region matchmaking, friend lobbies, drip feeding the content etc.) in this game are explained by their worry of diminishing player base.

More like they worried about HAVING a player base to begin with.

I was just trying out Violet's idea of putting a lot of Damage Up. I got it to like 97.5 on a direct hit. It definitely makes it better, but I'm not sure if it is worth it in the end. I just have to break the habit of holding the fire button instead of pressing the ZR when needed.
I think 2 is enough to severely punish people who step into the ink for even a split-second since that is the whole point of Damage Up on that thing. That would give you another slot to do whatever with.

We can always try it come August ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

rollers couldn't leave spawn after a minute of game

Depends, are we counting the brush as a roller? I think a brush team could get past a charger team, but not necessarily win.

If the team that has the zone loses control of the zone and the opposing team takes control of the zone, then the team that had it before gets additional penalty time. You have to get the penalty time to 0 before your actual timer goes down.

I started using a gimmicky route to the middle in Arowana Mall; shooting the wall to the right of the ramp and then jumping across to it. Charger is great for inking this path but terrible for abusing it, since you can't really attack whilst cresting over the wall. But this strategy at least gets me onto the middle platform safely during the start-game rush.

The game part of this game is fantastic, but little omissions like this on the feature side are pretty big "wat.son" moments for me. :lol

BTW, those matches we had earlier in Kelp Dome were great. I really wish there was a highlights mode in this game like Mario Kart TV.

The final boss was real tough. Wish the single player was longer has a TON of potential. It was actually fun to play through. EAD wizards deliver once again.

I'll remix your face! Also credits track is so good

I definitely agree with the poster who wanted the single player to be longer. Now to look for all the scrolls!

Also for online, why does everyone skip home base terrain and just try to go mid/take over the ther team's terrain?

How is kelp dome.

Lady has been playing that new harvest moon vc gme on the pad so it been playing hearthstone instead.

Its unlike any of the other maps, and I personally really like it. Its like a siege the fort sort of map when playing in Ranked.

Wow how did I not see that? Nice find.
