Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Went from B(66) to A-(40) tonight. The new gun works well on these maps in rotation.

I had a match on warehouse where two of my teammates went 0-6. We won but I couldn't understand how you could not get a single kill.

Sniper tips please. The weapon obviously has its strengths (one hit full charge splats) but as a whole seems far less versatile and useful than more or less everything else. Maybe a strong support player with sniper is useful? Otherwise the charge up times means you're not really covering anywhere near as much space with paint or closing in on the enemy. The one hit splats are great but otherwise it just seems kinda redundant.

the Kelp Charger has the Sprinkler - I'm often first or second in my team in the point ranking. Use short bursts to cover ground quickly and focus on areas that suit your weapon, you either want large open places or long corridors. The way I play chargers, your job isn't really to paint the base (you can throw a Sprinkler at the beginning and head to mid) but to go out and eliminate opposing players, defend choke points and take out chunks of their territory with your reach and the Sprinkler. At the end of a match, almost all my points come from covering the enemy ink in the contested zones

oh, and you don't need to fully charge to get a one-hit kill. With +25% damage from abilities I often barely have to charge to kill someone, it's kind of like using a Squiffer. Fully charge only when you need the range

Well that was a fun match.

I believe that you only need a 75% charge on the Kelp to OHKO. I don't pay attention sometimes. =P But yeah, that's another way to play using the Charger.

I do it mostly intuitively, I can't really time it properly but it seems to be less than 75% charge for me. I've managed to snipe people while I was in mid-air when I was jumping down the towers on Saltspray Rig. Frequently it feels like I barely tap the charge button and people just fall over (they might have already taken damage, of course). Anyway, it's probably a good idea for someone new to charges to test how long you have to charge your weapon to do above 100 damage at the shooting range

Bought the game from Amazon and it arrived today (was due on Monday). Probably the only time I've ever been annoyed at Amazon delivering early because my WiiU is at my student accommodation and I'm too ill to go and get it today. Looking forward to getting stuck in. The game was ridiculously cheap for a new release as well, I think I paid like £28 including postage and packaging.

The last four attempts to start a match failed to start (two didn't find 8 players, and two different error messages), is this the splatfest doing it? Or is it fine for others?

This fifth attempt found 8 though!

(Sixth failed, I'm done with it for the night :()

They should have gone for cats vs dogs for the first splatfest, a classic battle. Instead they went with rice v bread in the morning? What? Who the fuck eats rice for breakfast.

Good news is the Japanese are region locked for this event right? So a sort of 24hr filter. When's the EU event? Seems weird they're not doing them at the same time.

I love my bombs. =D

I'm not too good with them :(

Seeker for sure.

Best sub.

Dang I was in Blackbelly Skatepark at the top of that tower and I threw a seeker at somebody below me and it killed him. It was great, because I couldn't angle my gun low enough to hit him since i was so high up.

I don't think this is news to anyone but I see them adding a 3rd stage in the rotation, there's clearly room for it on the stage list

I can't believe that the splatfest would mean I could no longer get a full game going. The queues are insane the last 20 minutes

Japan is having lots of issues as well, just had a game where all other 3 players of my team dropped at the start of the match...meanwhile the other teams was unaffected.

"Can't find enough player"

So far 45 mins in, 5 matches player.

I reckon the Japanese must make up for about 75% of the online population, probably why it's hard to get enough players. A necessary evil!

Forgot about SplatFest. No wonder it kept struggling to pull players. It kept putting me with players levels 7-9. There's a certain level most players reach where they'll be adept no matter if they face level 20's. But uh, that's not the case with my opponents or teammates yet. I felt sort of bad. They're not ready yet. But constantly taking out 2-3 opponents side-by-side within 6 seconds still feels pretty good.
