Oh Jesus... That map is made for you Violet...

I'm out!

Holy crap, just had the best ever game on kelp dome. We had 3 seconds left, they double bomb rushed the splat zone, took it into extra time, counter stopped with them on 4 seconds, we somehow wrestled it back and took the win.

Idd the map rotation atm is pretty annoying and gets repetitive fast.
They can even make a 4 map rotation now.

A 4-map rotation would only suit players who stick with the same kind of weapon set all the time, since it'll be much more difficult to select a specialized weapon set for the map rotation.

Consider how random your team can get in terms of individual skill level, it's expected that you will find all sort of players in all ranks. Solo queue in a team-based game tends to be that way.

It feels very random, i've yet to get past A- rank myself.

I just don't understand how it's possible to be B+ rank and to get scores like 1-10, or 0-12. I mean even on my worst games its impossibru to get such a score.

It's quite possible to carry in this game, so one or two players can easily make up for the players that don't perform as well.

It's hard to blame on them tbh. :l

Man players really dont get better when you move up ranks do they? Some of the A ranks are infuriating.

I haven´t reached A ranks yet, but I see a great difference between C and B players. Also, I always notice everyone´s much, much better once you reach B+ (provided you get a lobby with B+, A- and A players like I always do).

worst sneak attack ever

e: the lag deaths happen because the laggy player gets delayed postion information (and his actual position is also delayed for other players). It's not necessarily an advantage, it works both ways

Uh what, the guy playing has a good amount of lag himself as well. His ink doesn't appear immediately sometimes. Maybe whoever the host is, he's lagging as well?

I don't think ink appears visually on the ground until the ink position has been confirmed at all the other seven players. I've noticed some matches where the ink takes forever to appear on the ground, but the ground painting magically solves once that player gets a disconnect.

Didn't know this was a thing ( lag on purpose ). Oh great.
I do blame the game for this as I hear it uses a lot of upstream compared to other Wii U games and when your upstream is too much on your connection you start to cripple the latency big time. Don't forget to add the shitty wireless chips on the Wii U too.

This is what happens when your developers live in a land where Internet is really, really fast. They forget the rest of the world is not blessed with such things. I apologize to my other players for having only 500kbits of upstream (which I can't fully use because it will cause lag but the game won't care), I'm wired too so that is something...

It needs a test with a room with 2 systems, both friends in the same lobby and 2 separate connections and lag one of them on purpose to see if any advantage from deliberate lag spikes could occur. Splat zones seems obvious. Get the point then lag the game to prevent paint coming out thus preventing enemy recapture :( Maybe if a player lags too much is why it disconnects one though...

My experience is unless I'm lagging or people are disconnecting, my ink always appears immediately.

People not understand how collision detection works and why lag would cause you to die even though your enemy doesn't appear close.

Anyhow I found the best way to raise your rank in this game. When you are one a winning streak - simply enter the game after 15 seconds have passed in the counter. That way the game fills with people with Ranks that are lower than you and you can keep your room low ranked.

Alright gotta go work - after that communication Error. Went from B70 to A-46 today
SO HAWT!!

If it worked like that the game would essentially be unplayable outside of LAN environments

Any speculation on the sub and special weapons of the carbon roller?

I would favor just about anything over kraken and killer wail right now.

I realized last night that all the matches I played that resulted in me ranking up in splat zones were played on Urchin Underpass. I think that's become my favorite stage for splat zones; it's the most simple and straightforward stage for that mode except for probably walleye warehouse.

Urchin Underpass is definitely the worst map for me in terms of win consistency.

Oh, I thought it was known to have the base properties of the splat/krak-on/hero roller. Perhaps that's unconfirmed.

I guess I'm more hyped if it could possibly be faster than the base roller.

It would be named similarly if the properties are the same.

Damn, I didn't like this new map in the single player. It might play better in MP though, we'll see, I've enjoyed the new maps they've released so far so...

How fun is the new map for those who played the sp mode?

I got some Arowana and Kelp Zone feelings, seems to me high ground maze based.

I found it to be a bit rough. There are many choke points, close quarters, and traversing it is like a maze. High ground is king and now I'm completely terrified of where the splatzone will be in this stage. Traversing the stage must be learned first(I died so many times in the Sp Campaign looking for the scroll) and there are some great hinding spots. Looking at the map frequently will be key to this stage.

Edit:
You may find yourself having to back track to get to a high point like Arowana mall.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. It seems this will benefit greatly when custom matchmaking is available as it demands more team coordination. Maybe this will be a good inkbrush map.

^ That brand of shirt has a 30.3% chance of giving you Damage Up per slot. That's why if you want Ninja Squid as the main ability, I recommend getting the Shrimp Pink Polo and upgrading it to have three slots. This shirt's brand gives a 30.3% chance of Ink Saver Main, which to me is way better than Damage Up.

No way Kraken Master Race

That's what I'm thinking in doing too, but I want to buy everything and Spyke is expensive ;_;
Will wait for my Sea Snails for that

Yea, the lag compensation in the game is very generous.

Bluefin Depot is the 2nd last post-launch map we know about. The next one will likely be that skyscraper map and I think that is an on-disc map. So I think the next map after that will have to be downloaded.

From a brief impression Bluefin Depot seems like there's plenty of interesting traversal opportunities. It's also interesting that it's called a coal mine in Japanese.

I've beaten the excellent SP and have hit level 20, I have all the guns clothes I want and so all that is left is ranked

Ranked kind of annoys me because I'm stuck in C+ and have been since it launched, it feels too random with team mates being sometimes good, sometimes awful, and no matter how good you are if one of the guys in your team ends up with 1 kill and 9 deaths you're going to lose, plus sometimes you end up in a team with 2 chargers or another combination that stacks the odds against you

Also I'd say in any given hour or so I'll have at least one disconnect, and the fact you lose 10 points for this means that even with the random nature of ranked, even when I have a better than 50% win rate, the disconnect points I drop ensures I can't ever break out and tap that sweet, sweet B- territory

It makes the wins all the more satisfying though, and it's a great game, but I think I might drop it until the big update as right now it's more frustrating than anything

My Wii U says i've put 31 hours into the game, which I'm happy with, and I'm sure that'll get even higher when the update comes out, but right now I kind of feel like I've hit a wall with the game

Honestly, if you want to go up in ranked.
Find the weapon that (for you) requires the least amount of teamwork to succeed with.
E-litre for example is a bad idea.

For me that would be the .96 gal.
My matches with it end in 15-20 kills and 0-3 deaths.
