Well then.

The guy that hacked Splatoon to get black/white ink has managed to replace the Inklings with fully playable Octolings.

There doesn't seem to be any kind of texture for their eyes blinking though so it seems as if these characters weren't fully designed to be playable. Plus, of course, most of the headwear clip right through them. Looks like if we're ever going to get any playable Octolings it'll probably not be in this game unless a huge overhaul update happens.

EDIT: Didn't finish watching the video fully and didn't realize that there is footage of the Octoling unmasked after all. Bit more complete than I first assumed.

Hats alone are why I assume they won't do Octolings as playable. Too much work to make those things fit.

Yet another thing I didn't figure out until today. The inklings in your last match show up outside of the tower when you return to the Plaza. Well... I already knew that... but I didn't realise I could abuse that by cycling through random turf wars until I found someone wearing the clothes I need.

Crossed two more items off of my list of clothes. Just need to find Sailor Stripe and Yellow Layered now.

It was basically the equivalent of 1 main Damage Up and 1 sub. Those weren't the reasons for me for me using those pieces of gear though. Just an added bonus.

That's awesome. That they have a unique (though incomplete looking) squid form and can change clothes/skin color tells me that they were probably experimenting with having them playable early on but then scrapped the idea and recast them as single player enemies.
