Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

- Patch incoming on the 1st of July
- Something about matchmaking when taking a long time during the Fests. This section I kinda skipped over.
- Special Tuning:
- Inkstrike: Some kind of change to the impact area... not sure if it's too big or too small, lmao. (Think it might be too big atm?)
- Kraken: When firing on kraken, (I think this means the knockback effect will be stronger against Krakens)
- Gear Power
- Ninja Squid: Slowing movement speed in ink further
- Stealth Jump: Time to super jump increased
- Ink-Resist Shoes: Reduced effectiveness
- Other: Other things to ensure a pleasant user experience

Hot damn they're kicking me in the nuts here. :(

Edit: I don't know why I instinctively think bad things when I read "reduced effectiveness". Ink Resistance is probably going to be good even after the fact.

Ninja nerfs don't seem terrible but they are going to change things a lot. Better invest in Swim Speed Ups!

And then my brother is wondering how Splatoon gets detailed patch notes but Smash can't muster the effort for it. :lol

by the way, they don't mention any percentages or even modifiers like 'slightly' or 'hugely' in the patch notes, so it could be miniscule or massive; we won't know until the patch hits. (or gets datamined out of the servers)

I can understand that, but why would they have a unique squid form? The one in the video is different from both the standard squid and the octolings' "octo form" in the single player.
The unique squid form in the video is just a mishmash of the Octopus form extremities replacing parts of a normal Inkling, like how the Octoling itself is Octoling parts replacing bits of a base model. It's not really unique, but rather the result of the main Octo-form model not being loaded because the hacker wasn't being thorough enough.

And the dark colouration is the only shaded colour that is programmed for those extremities (because Octolings are always purple in the campaign)

Damn, nerfing kraken kills the squid.

Everyone gets so slippery when i get into kraken mode and i have to try to hunt one person down and box them in a corner for a kill unless i kraken right behind them.

As a roller im already over powered so i'll accept that lol

jeez, way to nerf my current setup there ;_;
You mean 50% of the ranked players' current setup.

Ninja Squid did feel a bit too strong. Stealth Jump seemed fine. I never cared for Ink Resistance, but if the tests are right, it seemed too good. Strange, since I never really felt as though it did anything while playing.

Boo this patch, booooooooooooo!

I don't oppose any of the changes but I didn't really think that any of those needed patching. Maybe Ink Strike if we consider Splat Zones but even there... not really. Oh well they're not bad changes either. Quite indifferent about them.

Ehhh, as a Kraken user I mainly use it for surprise kills and fast movement on enemy territory anyway. And I kinda agree with nerfing ink resistance, 80% reduction? is just too good right now.

Hold on, Ink Resistance gives you an 80% resistance to enemy ink? Damn, I never really got to use it enough to feel it despite running the Red Hi Tops for as long as I have.

SPLAT!

Man I just have the worst luck with matchmaking. Awful level 10 player just refused to leave the room and also not be on my team

GGs totakeke guysloth and whoever else was in there

It will pair you against people from the same team if matchmaking is taking too long. You will be able to get Fest Points this way but only matches against the opposing team will affect the end result.

I think it's because you squid everywhere because of your ninja squid setup, but its really noticeable if you are trying to escape in enemy ink on foot, it almost stops you without the shoes. I have run speed up as a main, so I can run on enemy ink at just about the same speed as my own. I understand the nerf, but man I hope they don't go too far with it.

lol This from last night?

Yeah. I got 10 kills that match and you were 4 of them :D

I was actually in Atro0cious' stream chat last night and I really do think that you have the best grenade placement/timings out of all the people I've played against. It's kinda wild how often I'd back around and think nothing of an area only to get lit up and think "Ragnarok? *Splatted By Splat Bomb -- Ragnarok* Yup, it's him." :lol

Well that's just silly. :lol

I'm usually in squid mode/brush mode between shakes of the brush for offense/coverage so I didn't really feel the effects on myself.

They'll have to nerf it pretty fucking hard to be in line with every other ability in the game.

It's not just the movement speed that makes it good. It reduces the rate of damage you take to 1/4th and has a 25% damage cap compared to the 50% cap you get normally. We're talking 6 seconds to 25% damage VS 3 seconds to 50% damage. Combine that with making the movement penalty small and you have an ability that is just fucking retarded.

Being in enemy ink should be a super duper bad thing. Ink Resistance Up should just make it less bad, not "Oh, I'm in enemy ink? Who gives a fuck LALALA!".

It's nice that people are finally using bombs more often. I think Ragnarok and I had a bomb duel once. =)

Looking at that GIF, that splat bomb was in response to a different guy on the tower. The double splat because of a super jump was just a nice bonus. =) Those are the best.

Reduces damage and movement penalties incurred whe moving through enemy ink.

Max damage in enemy ink reduced 50%, movement penalty reduced from ~90% penalty to ~20-30%
From the wiki, I dont know how reliable this info is though, and it's not exactly 80% xP
But it must be op, if they found need in balancing it.

Yeah, I laughed when I saw the video and wanted to share. No way to anticipate that, lol. One fun thing to do is when I super jump and realize too late I'm jumping to my death I aim straight down and spam the sub weapon button. Sometimes I take some people out with me.

I don't think it's that OP. I die in 2-3 hits regardless and I don't think standing in enemy ink would really speed things up. I use it mostly for the mobility buff to escape when I'm overwhelmed or to swim across lines of enemy ink undetected.

I want the next splatoon game to have a jazz theme all over it, it would be so classy seeing all those smooth squids~
This has absolutely nothing to do with the Jazz MH thread, no. damn

I was just minding my own business recovering ink in a corner of saltspray last night and Ragnarok, in the center, just randomly threw a bomb over the wall which just so happened to land right on top of me. My only thought was HOW THE FUCK?
