Splinter Cell 4 trailer!!!

If that vid was indeed real time, I think as far as character modeling goes, that just pimp slapped MGS4. Granted in dark confined spaces, you can throw a ton of detail on a character and maybe thats why this looks better than anything i have seen before. As i have been saying, if there is anyone that can beat Kojima in the graphics department, i think ubisoft are the ones to do it.

Really? do tell. in what way do those character models "pimp slap" ANYTHING in MGS4? NO really. I want to know. Or should we post some hi res SS models from the trailor and let the reverse ownage begin?? lol.

THIS is what you guys are freaking out about?

What is this even, and it's like thirty seconds...

I've never been much a Splinter Cell fan for a number of reasons, but I'm sure the next one will be a big deal and look nice and all that. I'm sure everyone will love it for what it is, whatever that may turn out to be. I for one look forward to maybe actually being able to try the multiplayer out.

This pathetic bickering has got to stop though. It's just so horrible... But I guess that's what this board is all about. And to think I just come here for news...

Why is it that when something extraordinarily good is shown for a non-Sony system, most people automatically claim that it can't be real time? The opposite seems to be true for Sony systems.

Bring it son. The sam model looked CG..almost too good to be true. The snake models looks good to be sure, but not to the point of looking CG good. Knock yourself out chief.

You must not visit PS3 threads much.

Anyway this looked great, whether it was CG or not.

Pssssssst. Splinter Cell is multi platform, it was even called Splinter Cell next gen in the trailer, not SC360

Well, we'll just see. Too early to be drawing such conclusions.

What's with all the hype and "OMGWTF" responses? Are you guys looking at the same video I am? You can't make out shit.

Shit is this Doube D for real? Allways same god awful posts after each other in every thread. Keep up the work Doube D :lol

I think Sam Fisher looks sweet.

It's a nice concept for next-generation.

Seriously, after seeing Splinter Cell 3, I don't think you can doubt Ubisoft.

Hhaha, thank God SC is a multiplatform game series... i still won't have to bother with more than one next gen system right away. :)

That DOES look phenomenal though I'm still a bit skeptical as to whether that's real time or not. Is it still going to be an amazing looking game when it comes out? Haha, as long as Ubisoft Montreal is developing it and not Shanghai. If it's Shanghai... well... at least it looks pretty. :)

Its been rumored for a while that Chaos Theory was the last game with Sam Fisher as the main character, its believed Ubi Soft would be introducing a younger main character due to all the bitching fans had over Sam being too old. Splinter Cell fans have their Raiden now.

It's also somewhat eluded to through Chaos Theory, as well. They keep telling him he's old. Then in the Seoul mission they actually have him helping out the younger guys? Also hinted by that whole ending, with him saying something like "Next time, I make the crazy plans and YOU do them."

yah.. just look at their stuff they have done in the past. They push systems so hard the thing blows up.... their technical expertise is for example far beyond Team Kojima. Team Kojima however are experts in fine arts and such... no doubt about that..

I think that was as realtime as the KZ trailer.. I mean the sweat transforming into a water drop and dropping on the water.. come on.

What are you basing this on. Working on platforms with programmable shaders?

I'm sure there is a point to this post... somewhere... but it's about as discernable as this vid.

Try reading, champ.

Ubi's SC teams have ALWAYS developed to the strengths of each system.

They obviously didn't get the most out of the PS2, or play to its strengths.

Ok it's clear now, this trailer is not from the SP.. It clearly says: "A sneak peak at Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell's next gen online experience"

Blim's footage is 60fps, so the trailer seems to be real-time to me. I also find the sam-like guy in the trailer more impressive than SS (except for the hair). The detail on its skin is awesome.

Here you go, chief. Now why don't you tell me about that bitch slapping again....

:lol :lol :lol ..nice try...Dont get me wrong, Snake looks good. He just doesnt look like he could be fooled for being CG. You can tell he is made of polygons. The Sam model, if it is realtime, has some very well done texturing, that makes him possibly look like he could be CG. Look at the responses in this thread. Many people here dont believe its realtime. I dont think that was really the case with MGS4, at least from what I saw.

Im sorry, but that in no way looks as good as MSG4. Not visually (the models are great, environments barren) and definatelly not artistically IMHO.

Even though Kojima said everything in the MGS4 trailer was realtime epopel were still claiming it was CG.

Im not going to be arguing this point all day..when I saw the MGS4 vid, I thought it was obvious that it was real time. It was incredible looking, just wasnt CG quality.

I think this is all I will say on this until we find out more on SC4.

Ugh, the reason it doesn't look like CG is because unlike 99.9 percent of cg out there, konami managed to get rid of the plastic look. As to what people in this thread are claiming.... yes, the sweat droplet is CLEARLY not real-time. That has nothing to do with character models. The rest as I said could easily be done real-time. Wheather it is or not is another issue.

If you go in next-gen thinking the games will be CG quality, you will be horribly dissapointed.

In what way is it looking worse artistically other than that MGS 4 has somewhat a comic book appereance wich might be the reason?

I dont think MGS 4 got rid of the plastic look at all. It doesnt look different than other similiar games in that regard. For example GOW is NOT more plastic looking IMO. Besides what is most awesome with the MGS 4 video is camera movement emulation, animations, editing, directing, particle effects and those small details that add so much to making a computer(be it realtime or prerendered) made footage look alive.

Look, I'm not going to convince you either way. You think MGS4 looks better. I think SC4 looks better (particularly the character models - if it is real time) ..and lets just leave it at that.

Dude, SC:PT and SC:CT are some of the best looking titles on the PS2, and absolutely decimated competing multiplatform releases on the system in terms of specifically playing to its strengths, especially considering SC debuted ahead of time on a more powerful console.

Do you honestly believe ANY multiplatform title could equal the visuals of an exclusive title? That notion pretty much goes against the very definition of multiplatform. But tweaking to each system's strength is not common, but thankfully the SC teams continually buck that trend.

Is there really a need for you to stick your head so far up MS' ass? For the love of god man, when you hit the colon, you've gone far enough!

MGS4 doesnt look THAT much better than alot of the stuff out there and a few things have surpassed it. I think most people are in damage controll mode because they wanted it to blow everything away like MGS2 did, and it didnt.

This is the nail in the coffin of this thread :D

That's not what I said. Sorry, try again.

What I originally posted:

I thought Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time looked pretty darn awesome. But no, exclusives are generally better looking on the given platform. Unless of course we're talking about something like RE4, which technically outclasses anything Nintendo has developed in-house for the Gamecube, and is multiplatform.

Is there really a need for you to stick your head so far up MS' ass? For the love of god man, when you hit the colon, you've gone far enough!

I'm sorry, but what's the point of this post? First, try responding to my actual posts instead of these delusions you have of what I'm posting, then think about who actually has his head up something.

The fact that everyone compares every good looking next gen title to MGS4, even its detractors speaks volumes of how impressive it is.

MGS set the standard graphically on psx and ps2. It just makes sense to use that as the basis for comparison.

You guys are suckers. can't you wait for a little gameplay before busting a nut? They could have played almost the same looking trailer on this gens hardware. It's called CG.
