yuck.

Seriously Ubisoft, remove that unsightly 'Tom Clancy' border from ALL your games. its gross.
And for Pete's sake, hire a cover artist who, you know, knows how to draw stuff.

Damnit, what was traditionally a Japanese trend is now penetrating America. Wait, that's not necessarily a bad thing now...

EA could do a boxart better then that.

Take away the always cheesy Tom Clancy side bar and I'd be loving it. Other than that, it's cool. Kind of sinkning in that this will be the third game from a brand new series that was started this generation.

Baring sports games, has that ever happend before?

True. Never played WRC, but at least R&C has been quality gaming three times in a row. Burnout.. while being great never really took off untill number 3. Suprised that there are so many though, now that its been pointed out. Wonder why that is..

Now.. that Euro box art is crappy. I think we can all agree on that. (Even minus the sidebar.. blech.)

I guess you could count NBA Street, SSX as well since they're not "real" sports games. and you could probably count GTA as well, (3 games this gen, the franchise basically started with GTA3).

Well ok. So I didn't really give this whole idea too much thought apparently. Was it that common in earlier generations?

I think the problem I keep coming back to with SC is that I mainly think of it as a XBox title, and the fact that three versions have come out since that was released just seems overwhelming to me. I mean, we are just now getting the 3rd MGS. I guess my mind is just used to thinking of big franchise titles as coming out once ever couple of years.

I must get it from my hardcore Nintendo days.

Three? That's nothing. Our good friend Tomb Raider appeared five glorious times on the PSone.

American boxart would be so nice without Clancy bar. The other ones are ok tho. Not sure SC has a strong enough following for SE, but I guess that didn't stop Midway from doing one for MK: D.

I will probably be suckered into getting this "limited edition." I think watching the documentaries and stuff will be pretty interesting, even if it does have (as a previous poster suggested) a whole "halo 2 did this, now we have to," smell to it.

On the top of my head I'd say :

3 Onimusha Games
3 Devil May Cry Games
3 GTA games
3 SSX games
3 NBA Street games
3 Jak games
3 Rachet and clank games
3 Colin Mc Rae games
5 Battle Network games
3 Fire Emblem games
3 Megaman Zero games
3 Sonic Advance games
3 Naruto games
3 Mario Party games
3 Final Fantasy games on PS2 (6 all around)

That's with 2 mins of thoughts

I think it's funny how they are so sure of themselves with that boxart. The three lights, that supposedly everyone and their grandmother will instantly connect to Splinter Cell? I mean, the series surely isn't THAT popular, is it? But then, they sure have a big Tom Clancy bar on the left...just in case, I assume. :P
I still stand by the opinion that it looks more like a train running through a rainy night.
