Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on XBox

16:9 and 480p yes. 720p no.

thanks!

i'm new to using higher display resolutions on the xbox. do you have to set the display resolution in the dashboard before each game you play or will it ask if you want to display in progressive mode (like on the gcn) once the game boots?

and I still suck at these games.. first mission owned me and the second one seems impossible! :lol :lol

I was actually really good at Splinter Cell: Chaos theory but i was shit at the the other. The faster camera probably helped me a lot in Slinter cell 3.

You set it in the Dashboard once, and all games that support it will use it. No need to hold anything everytime like on GCN.

i have a 16:9 widescreen hdtv. i should set the dash to widescreen and 480p then is what you're saying? what about games that don't support 16:9 and progressive scan?

If you have a HDTV, set the dashboard to 1080i and Widescreen. Games will always use the highest resolution they support. Games that don't support 16:9 and progressive scan will just revert to normal 480i 4:3 display automatically.

I'm playing through SC 3 right now, I liked SC 1 it was new back then.. I didn't even try SC2, I just didn't feel the need + stupid ideas like 3x alarm = mission failed

SC3 well, it has some nice ideas like using a knife, tho.. it's just boring going through the SP. (all imho of course)

The game is easy... Then again I am a master of stealth. :) I went through most of the levels without killing anyone. The only time I killed anyone was when I had to...

cool. i didn't want to have to be in the dashboard changing display options all the time. thanks for your help!

I own at all the Splinter Cells. One of my favorite series of all time.

Oh, and the people who say Sam can't hit the broad side of a barn firing his weapon are wrong - they can't hit the broad side of a barn. The game isn't Halo.

Patience is key in this series, and flagrantly running and gunning will get you killed damn near every time.

Anyone having a problem playing this online? Trying to play co-op with a friend and it gets half way through loading and freezes up. Wondering if it's my new wireless set up but I have no problems with other games.

SC:CT is the first Splinter Cell I actually managed to play for a few levels (until the drones). Considering the stealth part of Zelda: TWW was a problem for me I'd say I'm about as bas as anyone can be at this type of game.
Something I hate in a stealth game is when you can't go back to some place you already visited without having again to be careful about what you are doing. The first few levels of SC:CT allow you to kill everyone and break every camera so you can then go anywhere freely. I liked that a lot :)

alright, i couldn't find the microsoft hi-def a/v pack at any retailer in my area, so i ended up buying a $60 monster component cable for the xbox. the thing that is strange is that the monster cables are not tight in the component inputs on the back of my tv. they just kind of sit there. i've never bought monster cables before. is this normal?

to be more specific, the cable is the monster xlink component cable. each end is sitting so loosely in the tv's input that if you simply bump the tv they come loose. is there something i'm missing here? i noticed that the heads of the cables can be "unscrewed", but that seemed to make no difference for my problem. anybody have these cables?

How to play Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on your Xbox 360 with all the new maps and updates:
1) Download the latest compatibility update (December 2005): http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/8/a/58a10dbc-9445-4eed-83d5-22f8ad8ee855/default.zip, burn it to a CD and load it onto your 360 in order to update itÂ’s BC capabilities.
2) Load up SC:CT and proceed to download all the Xbox Live updates and maps.
Optional) If Steps 1 & 2 donÂ’t work for you then restart the procedure but make sure to do this step first: If you have played SC:CT on your system then make sure to delete any instance of SC:CT from your HDD. You can delete these files from the Memory option found within the System Blade.

i was just in the dashboard... wouldn't it be better to set 480p, 720p, and 1080i all to yes since my tv accepts all of these? is there a reason it's better to just set it to 1080i?

i have to DL something from the site? why? doesnt the live auto update thing work? i was having problems getting my SC:CT to work yesterday after DLing some 2 levels for something ... kept freezing about 80% in to the loading for something.

Ill have to double check the res output, but if its only 480p, it looks damn good and very clean.
It isn't clean at all on XBOX at 480p, but it's *VERY* clean on 360 at 720p.

I had the exact same problem, so did almost everyone.

Follow my directions and you'll be playing SC:CT on your 360 without online and off without trouble.

Set everything to yes if your TV supports it. Some games are 720p only (Amped 2, Soul Calibur 2) thus you will have to have it set to play them.

There are only like 3 or 4 that support 1080i.

Gonna agree with this. It did not look great on my TV at 480p.

hmm... halo 2 looks pretty nice on my tv at 480p. the cutscenes look especially nice, but the actual gameplay parts look good as well. it's getting hard to tell though, as i'm getting used to viewing everything at 480p or higher so i'm not as easily impressed as i was when i initially bought the tv last month. sdtv's look like shit now though...

yeah, i already went ahead and set all three to 'yes', but i just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some kind of reason that i should set it to 1080i only. thanks!

Nothing. The update breaks the emulation and causes lockups.

I decided to double check the problem, to see if they released an update but now it doesn't load up for me anymore. What the hell, I downloaded all the new maps and played online a couple of days ago.

That's because you were playing it on Xbox.

Oh ho ho ho ho

I crack myself up.
