Splinter Cell Conviction: A Nighttime Gameplay demo ( new level! )

I unno, looked rather ugly and the timing of takedown -> execute seemed terrible. If it's meant to represent heightened senses and shit then there shouldn't be 3-4 seconds of him standing back up while getting shot at.

It's "badass" to take out three guys with a silenced pistol after choking the first guy out but it looks so automatic, it makes the enemies go down so easily. Part of the fun with stealth games is the planning and execution challenges, it's almost better to just slow down time than giving the player automatic kills.

;( I love Splinter Cell, but I liked the stealthy approach better. This seems like a 3rd person shooter with some stealth aspects. Maybe it can be played either way?

True that. But after that I think that the game isn´t going to be this easy. These guys know all the tricks and have everything at their disposal to show off in demo´s like this.

Playing this game on the hardest setting isn't going to be like this demo. If you are a true ninja like Sam Fisher, you won't mind playing on the hardest setting right?

Dare i say it?

Game looks to be too easy.
That's been the main criticism since they first showed Mark and Execute. Ubi's said that, no... The game is still very challenging. For one, you can't even use Mark and Execute unless your presence is completely unknown. You can't just whip it out in the middle of a battle.

I look great and dynamic but the mecanics seem... Odd. You can spot and tag enemies through wall, then execute them in a second... What's the challenge after that ? I guess I'm missing something

If you can just whip it out in the middle of a battle it would be equivalent to having a win button.

The problem isn't making the first stealth kill, it's the subsequent kills that look way too easy.

Did you read what I said? :p.
Plus I doubt you can use this all the time.

are people really complaining about the difficulty, when chances are, like in most trailers, the difficulty was set to very easy?

unless ubisoft are complete retards, i think they have the foresight to know that thier audience are hardcore gamers, so i think they know that the level of difficulty should be a priority

Those subsequent kills were also M&E. Any guy you marked while you were unknown, you kill with the win button. Any other guys that join the fight after that you gotta take on normally.

I hope Ubi'll be smart enough not to just let you mark every single guy in an encounter.

I'm old enough that I don't give a shit if it's easy. I want to feel like I'm Jason Bourne and I'm fucking dudes up.

EDIT: Did no one play the Rainbow Six games? Mark and execute is nothing new.

Really? I'm pretty certain that the developers like uh... uh... uh... fucking know that. If they put in an ability, chances are they know that they are going to have to actually make the game revolve around that. You are basically worrying that jumping in Mario might make the game too easy.

Vomiting in my mouth. Vomit vomit vomit. It's trickling down my chin.

Can this game even be played non-lethally?

Bonus complaint: how many times does Sam take damage doing all those "awesome" "executions"? Ridiculous.

They stated at PAX that you can actually go through the game without getting any kills just like the other titles (besides the ones that are mission critical, again just like the previous games). Pretty sure stealth would be involved. =p

Fuck yes, this will make up for double agent.
Double Agent on the original Xbox was amazing.

You have to earn the ability to use the mark and execute system, so, I imagine that the game can still be played stealthily.

Oh thank fuck, you just made my day.

If I can play this game without ever touching mark and execute, all the better.

I'm not going to watch any media for this game. The E3 video was enough for me to know it will be awesome. That is all I need.

I want the rest to be a surprise.

I assume you can't just use mark and execute all game if you need sticky cameras to do it.

There's got to be some sort of limitation.

I'm sure I'm alone in liking the 360 version. Yeah, the first few levels were absolute garbage, but the latter levels were funner than hell!

Hmm, this new trailer gives me an uneasy feeling. First off the framerate isn't what it should be and secondly it is very very dark and without Sam's classic night vision goggles I could see it becoming a problem. Also, where is the bloody stealth? All I see is Sam taking bullets and shooting people in the face. Don't get me wrong, it's cool but it's not Splinter Cell.

Hopefully, these issues will iron out by release as I am a huge Splinter Cell fan.

looks great, just wish sam didnt look like a homeless person who found a pair of NV goggles, i guess im just a sucker for tight fitting stealth suits

love the interrogation animations (sticking him in place with a knife through the hand)

I almost wish they would use button assignments instead of just auto killing them.

For example: the first target is X, second is Y and then third is B. Then you execute them by button presses.

Whatever. I'm still a Ubi Montreal skeptic so I'll just wait for final version impressions.

Lol @ people hating. They HAVE to show off the new stuff because otherwise gamers who didn't like the series before aren't going to get interested. I for one welcome these new additions. Combat in Splinter Cell sucked, and you couldn't really pull some awesome shit if you ever got discovered. I'm going for a full stealth playthrough of course, but IF I get discovered, I will know that I am not at a disadvantage, and that Sam is a trained fucking killer who gets the job done regardless.

This looks very good. I wonder if the tagging system is something that can optionally be done (making the game easier for those who use it) or if some of the situations really requires you to use it if you don't want to fail. Hopefully it's the former as it would be a great way to customize the difficulty.
