I had a good laugh at the whole Tamura segment.

No, that's Haibane Renmei.
Personally, aside from a couple of episodic stories in the first half, I didn't find much meaningful out of Casshern Sins' aimless melancholy.
So, if I liked Date A Live should I definitely watch Infinite Stratos?
Chifuyu is best girl in IS

Haibane Renmei is good but I don't think it deals with religious philosophy as overtly as Casshern Sins does. To each his own I guess
As a general question to the thread, does anyone have any recommendations for really obscure anime? I mean anime that is obscure even for the regulars here, not like Mushishi or Serial Experiments Lain or whatever
K-On!!
Good show. Not Hyouka good, but still damn good. First season is a more expensive Azumanga Daioh with less jokes. But with the second season there is a subtle shift away from the yonkoma gag humor to a proper slice-of-life format, in that everything is no longer teleologically oriented towards the gag in each scene. The humor is still there, but it evolves naturally from the girls' circumstances. There's less artificial set-up for one-off jokes and more straight up chilling. I think K-On depicts how someone fondly reminiscing about the past would see things, with no struggles or negative experiences standing out. The expiration date that the second season places on the nostalgia in the form of their graduation adds a good deal of emotional weight as well. Marathoning this was like a nostalgia bender.
People harp on the fact that the music component of the show is constantly in the periphery but, while true, I thought that the few times the show fixates on the music were exceptionally well done. I liked when the characters were aimlessly playing their instruments without a particular song in mind. It conveyed the exploratory dimension of music well imo, better than most anime at least. KyoAni good qual animation (esp. in capturing the nuances of body language) plus god tier incidental music equals a good show. It's a good show.
Lewd and also totally wrong.
Fucked up characters ARE fun!
Maybe Im just weird.
Chifuyu > France > Pika-tan > Germany > China > Japan
Infinite Stratos suffers because its MC isn't endearing or entertaining as he's a dense motherfucker, and most of the main harem aren't cute or memorable at all. You should only watch it to realize that Date A Live does these things much better.

Who?
I don't think I'd agree with you on how the first season is more gag comic like, but I'll say the second season does take a more laid back "slice of life" approach. The second season is much more slowly paced when you consider that the first season goes through two years in 14 episodes while season 2 goes through just one year in 27 episodes. That said I agree that I like season two more.
Did you watch the movie as well?
[Doremi Sharp] - 2
Because, you know, it's a show for little kids.
Charl and Rin, respectively.
Yeah, I forgot Char was France for that moment. Rin is still incredibly irrelevant though.

Yeah, I've heard Infinite Stratos is god awful. From the sounds of it, I'm not missing anything.
the last of us -
Solid writing, beautiful art and sound design. Stumbles early on and is hobbled by its insistence on forcing up the bodycount to comical levels. But there's a point in the latter half of the game where everything just comes together--a perfect confluence of great level design and narrative stakes--where it hits true greatness. Never hits that high again, but that's fine. Druckmann-sama won.
*(except for Jak 2 that sucked)

And yeah the movie was great even though the retconning was a bit weird at first. Kyoto Animation Domination
Yeah, Haunted Junction really wasn't memorable or worthwhile.Gotta keep up the hipster cred eh? Off the top of my head the most obscure things I can think of are Here is Greenwood and maybe to a lesser extent Haunted Junction. I can't say I really recommend either, sometimes things are just obscure because of how middle of the road they are.
Haibane Renmei had a more thoughtful exploration of sin, guilt, and the unknown beyond than Casshern Sins did.
Further proof that UC Gundam just causes Stockholm syndrome.
Wait what? Retconning? I only watched the first season and never ventured into the second but what could they possibly have felt the need to retcon? I just...I didn't think you could do that with SoL moeblobs.
The movie is about a trip to London that occurs chronologically before their graduation during the show even though it's never discussed within the show. idk if that counts as retconning
Also thanks for the recommendations everyone. Gotta keep that backlog growing

Well they do have the OVA episode that is basically the set up to the movie with the girls getting their passports, but you can't really fault them for not knowing they'd be doing a a movie and that it would take place in London. It's not something that's in the manga anyways.
Uncharted 3. Jak 3.Just finished it myself. Glad to see your apology post!
