Thought I was watching Milos for a second. Oh, Murata.

Then the
almost-rape
happened and I was like, Oh, Butch.

I suppose this episode rules out time travel, at least in a linear backward sense, due to to mention of the frozen-world myth.

I guess I should mention how much I'm enjoying the show. My favorite of the season.

No man you gots to like it.

You gots to

Fair call on the 'scared' thing, but when you said it initially I thought you meant in relation to, like, getting mugged or something. Well, sleeping on the streets still possessing the possibility of attack... Well, as long as you admit that it all makes logical sense.

We're not arguing over plausibility, right? Just likingness? So it's just one of those arguments which isn't really an argument so much as it is opinions headbutting.
Just likingness but I'm always up for a good headbutting! But let me put it this way, Misaka Mikoto would have fucking walked home.
Well one thing the show has kinda reinforced is how everybody's personality has been toned down from their alterworld counterparts. It feels partly like in order to survive, they had to adjust to a place which is peaceful. Also at the end, she acknowledges that the Demon Lord has toned down as well.
I'm wondering if their personalities were really toned down though. I mean, it could go either way, the past could have just been a setup for what's otherwise an impossible scenario but isn't meant to really have any real bearing on the story, it was just a fast way to get the Devil working at a McDonalds clone, on the other hand maybe Satan never was a bad guy, per-se, and he felt that a war with humanity was necessary for some actual legitimate reason? I mean, his servant dude has mentioned he's mellowing out some so maybe that's true but maybe he was never bad to begin with but had to act big because of his position and the situation he was in as opposed to that honestly being his personality.
Rad that you've been a footslogger though Mac. How long for?
5 years but I've been out since 2003.

I just think the alienation aspect and not being powered in this world when you're used to it is an incredibly strong factor yo. But it's difficult to talk about based on two episodes of evidence and we've mostly only had a stylised retelling of what occured in the alternate dimension so IUNNO

Nanoha StrikerS 17 (rewatch)

This is DEFINITELY where I remember the show being at its peak, where there are no more training arcs and plenty of beams being shot at things. The scene where Subaru
is finally revealed to be a cyborg I was not expecting the first time I watched it
is probably my favorite scene in the show. It certainly made me remember that Saitou Chiwa is really good at screaming.

Obligatory Nanoha chart.

It's definitely one of the high points of the series and and an interesting development to Subaru but it always struck me as too little too late. Her (and Teanna) weren't bad characters but that long training period just kinda bored me and then Subaru jumps up in power anyway.

On the plus side, you have the the brilliant Vivio stuff coming next.

You know, looking at it again, the problem with that chart is that it says that the first four eps of S1 are actually worse than anything in StrikerS, which is completely false...

Isn't it more an indication of starting from a blank slate. You go into the series with no fun because you have nothing to base it on which is why it slowly increases. The first 4 episodes of Nanoha were pretty dull until the decided to solve all the mysteries with beam spam.

On the other hand, coming into StrikerS from the other two series you have a certain expectation and while the first few episodes of setup are good you realise that it's going to continue on before it gets better so your fun level drops off.

Though that's just my take on it. The levels for the middle of season 1 being lower than that start of StrikerS does seem of though....

By the way, bit of trivia for today's Oreimo episode that I only just realized thanks to some hints: it's pretty obvious that the game is a transparent parody of Love Plus, but the second level of parody is that Saori Hayami, who voices Ayase, also voices one of the three girls in the real Love Plus game, Manaka. Take Ayase + Manaka and get...

Yeah, S1 is better overall than S3. Yet going by that chart, the lines are the other way around. That is wrong. Sure, you're right that S1 starts slow, but that middle part of S3 gets so mediocre... it's definitely worse than the beginning of S1, no question. And the middle of S1 is better than almost anything in S3; maybe the last couple of episodes are better, but that's about it.

Goddamn, what a bonafide badass von Reuental is. Old-noble woman trying to kill him, and he still lets her sleep in his bed, just to casually dismiss her afterwards.
Very contrasting image with the lovely couple Mittermeyer makes with his wife.
Also, everybody on the High Court is trying to kickstart Reinhard's dating experience. Can't a man lead his young Empire in peace?
Pretty funny how several high ranking officers all got capes of a sudden.

No, he's broken. Fix him, Manami!

Much better than last week's episode. I really laughed at the end at Ayase's little... erm... plan. Yes, we'll call it that. Kyousuke, watch your back.

Awesome, that's a neat little gag there. ^^;

The training episodes are by far the worst part of the show. It never really felt like they were making any real progress, and when the starters did get stronger it was more or less "oh you've been training for this long, we'll just remove a limiter from your device to make you stronger".

You know, looking at it again, the problem with that chart is that it says that the first four eps of S1 are actually worse than anything in StrikerS, which is completely false...

I can honestly say that I'm not the biggest fan of the first couple of episodes of season 1. I guess I'm just not a fan of what I assume to be common mahou shoujo tropes. I honestly thought this was a more accurate chart (though that could just be because it's more pleasing to the eye and it's fooling me!)

Though some parts in StrikerS being being better than the best parts of S1? NOPE.

This is far from being the best Precure show, but I appreciate how "fast-paced" it is.
Well, it was obvious that they were going to add more "generals" due to the whole Seven Deadly Sins motif.

As I've said before, after the "Nanoha was hurt before this season and shouldn't use her full powers" disastrously bad plot point, the second worst thing in StrikerS, and it's only second by a very close margin, is the stupid, STUPID idea of limiters. I mean them using them at all.

That probably is better, but still that chart has the middle part of S1 below the later parts of Strikers... and I'd rank the worse parts of S3 lower than that. I do like how high that one has the last four eps of A's, though... yeah, that fits. :) But yeah, I agree that the last part of S1 is better than anything in Strikers, unquestionably.

Oh man that's awesome. Love this stuff.
You should share it over in the OT.

I love the inappropriateness of the music at certain points. I'm having a lot more fun with this than I thought I would. I'm in for this season.
