Haha! I hope we see more of her.

Hataraku Maou-sama - 02

Ditching your girlfriend to waste your time
spying on men?
You're the worst, Emi!

Another decent episode, just wished Chiho and Mayumi got more screentime.

Attack on Titan 2

Excellent episode. The focus has definitely been shifted from the titans to the characters indicated by
the evacuation of some of the villagers and the timeskip at the end of the episode
.

Also I love this ED, I think I'll listen to it several more times.

This is easily the most consistently well animated show of the season. It is to sakuga what Studio PABLO is to backgrounds.

Episode 1

Episode needed way more Spoor. Not enough Rica Fukami for me. ;)

It was nice to get back into this series after a bit of a break after finishing Crest. The first episode certainly starts off with a bang with that big space battle showing. Rica Fukami does a pretty good job at speaking Abh too. Watching the first episode of Gargantia that's currently airing right now you can tell the difference between how the two approach a space battle.

Gargantia just sort of had stuff flying all over the place and it was hard at times to tell the more specifics of the battle outside of the human fleet facing off against the alien fleet and their giant space flower cannon thing. In this episode of Banner, and even in Crest, you had the bridge staff relaying the information of the battle as it was happening and the show would switch to a more 2D overhead perspective showing the ships and their positions.

An example would maybe be seeing a ship and then an officer saying there would be contact with the other space bubble from an enemy ship and while this is happening you see on their monitor two triangles surrounded by a field approaching each other, then it goes back to 3D space and you actually see the enemy ship appear from other space and then both firing their weapons at one another. Another is maybe a view of the panel with one coloured triangle moving inbetween a few other coloured triangles and an officer saying they were cutting through the enemy line. Just after you see the actual ships flying in 3D space moving through and attacking surrounding ships. It all happens really quickly so as to not be intrusive or disturb the flow of battle while making sure you know what's going on and aren't just totally lost as the viewer.

It was interesting to see more of Lafiel in her new uniform and wearing her earrings. The three members of her new crew along with Jinto seem like they could be interesting characters to follow along with. During the battle I thought
it was probably just a mock exercise starting around when they got their proton cannon knocked out and especially when supposedly they were hit and most or all of the crew had been killed. The officers relayed the information but didn't seem that concerned about it and the damage just seemed too extreme for a first battle. Just little tip offs like that made me think it wasn't a real battle but would turn out to be a simulation.

I mentioned when watching Crest that I didn't mind the shows slower nature and I still liked this first episode but it didn't seem as interesting or kind of disappointing in that it seemed like a large portion of the episode was taken up by conversations where they just basically repeated what they said but worded differently. I kind of felt like Lafiel where she basically remarked "just say what you want to say". Maybe it was because it was the first episode of a continuing series but it seemed like they tried to establish character traits that should already be kind of obvious too. Even though it was maybe kind of annoying, I guess if it was supposed to be a bit of a recap episode, then it wasn't as outright about it as others in that it wasn't as direct about it and had it more come across in the characters conversations.

It was kind of interesting too regarding the Abh forces in the end that
they seem to be making so many ships so easily, as was pointed out, which gives the impression that they are quite the powerful force but obviously the opposing nations are just as powerful as to apparently draw them into a stalemate for so long.

It will be interesting to see where it goes. As always I look forward to the next episode. Hopefully there's more Spoor in that one, haha.

The way the characters keep switching roles in this show really keeps it interesting. First I thought Fakir was the villain, but now it seems that he's evolved into one of the good guys, as though he's remembered his duty to protect Mytho instead of isolate him from the world so he doesn't have to. Now it seems that Kraehe is the villain, robbing Mytho of the power to love by setting a trap, infusing the gem of love with hatred. But I'm still not convinced that there isn't some sort of good heart inside of her. And Mytho is growing slowly but steadily more involved emotionally and aware of the world. He's probably only to have his role grow further and further from here on out.

I absolutely love the presentation in this show. The animations and character designs are some of my favorites, and the music is fantastic as well.

Men love cute things, this isn't a valid argument!
Men don't, some boys do though!
j/k

Remember how I hate Tessa from Full Metal Panic? Well, I don't know if you were here for my rant, it was a long time ago, but I hate clumsy characters, and Chiho doesn't even have the honor of at least having a good job like Captain of a submarine, no, she's in a way worse position working fast food and even then she's too much of a klutz that that job is technically beyond her abilities. Why would I want more of that?

Episode 1
Sadly I think the series is on a continuous downhill slope as far as quality goes, but even then I still think it's better than most shit out there by far. Also, we definitely need more Spoor.

Yeah, from others commenting about the show they mention it kind of goes downhill a bit but it still seems pretty good overall.

The Light of El Cantare
Oh good, you're back. Summoning ritual averted.

None of you can ever, ever rib Articalys again for doing this, because the thing that comes after the ragequit is the quick realization that even if the thread can be a less-than-positive experience sometimes, there's still no better alternative elsewhere.

Of course, Saban killed anime yesterday so I suppose there's nothing left to talk about.

Yeah, definitely still good overall, but, the amount of Spoor in a season is also somehow in direct correlation with how good the season is!
Once she ends up an undercover omnipotent goddess of war, their eyes will open.
And we'll close them again every time she trips and misses her ultimate attack.
Mitsuru is the best <3 <3 <3
So true.

You need to consider that there was a year gap between the two series so re-establishing certain character traits isn't really a bad idea, and Banner does a good job at achiving this without drawing too much attention to it.

It was kind of interesting too regarding the Abh forces in the end that

This is an interesting point. The first show doesn't really make the scale of the whole affair obvious as it focuses on just Lafiel and Jinto, but if you think about it, the Abh empire is meant to be a massive interstellar Empire so it only stands to reason they would have vast resources at their disposal while at the same time, from the perspective of the protagonists we only see bits of it at a time. (which helps imo)

Gargantia 2

I've always been a fan of ocean worlds, and this is a very nice one even if the fleet is pretty much all there is to the setting. Still, Gargantia has a nice community going on, so I'm fine with it.

Now to find out if
the Gargantians will praise Ledo for saving them, or be horrified by his power and ability to leave nothing left of a body.

Oh no, a cliffhanger and I don't know if I can get another ep in tonight!
Kraehe is leaving the shard of Mytho's love and Mytho to whoever influences it with their words the most, which means if Tutu wants it, she'll have to confess her love for Mytho. But if she does that, she'll turn into a speck of light! What's going to happen?!

Lately this show's been playing on the theme of "knowing your place". Kraehe reveals to Tutu that in the grand scheme of things she's a pretty insignificant part of Drosselmeyer's story. She tries to convince her that she's just full of herself and trying to do more than she should. And yet, she continues to search for Mytho's heart and give it back to her. Seems as if the whole point of this story is to not held and bound by the roles that society has placed upon you, and that you can steal the show even though you may have been given a minor role.
