Square Enix E3 Livestream Schedule

I'd be more happy/surprised if there was a Wii U version, it would be the first mainline Final Fantasy on a Nintendo console since Final Fantasy VI on SNES.

We'll see. I doubt XIV will end up on Wii U unless Dragon Quest X starts performing SIGNIFICANTLY better than it has so far.

Months ago I remember Shocking Alberto saying something about FF XIV potentially coming to the Wii U.

Edit: I think it was about one year ago.

From what I've seen, what's hurting Dragon Quest X sales is because it's a MMO, Final Fantasy XI sales also got hit because of that.

If it does happen, I'll be very happy.

Grand Finale huh? That'd better be Versus XIII.

They keep shoving MMO's into numbered, mothership entries when they clearly don't belong there. It feels so forced, and I'm glad people are not buying into it.

When was this ever mentioned by Square?

it hasn't, so far they've said that they're only focusing exclusively on the PC and PS3 versions with mobile compatibility considered. i don't think we've officially gotten any mention of anything else, not PS4 or Wii U

The "future of Final Fantasy" thing reminded me of how they announced FFIX, FFX, and FFXI all at the same Millennium event.

It was interesting because it seemed that they actually had a clear vision for the series at the time.

Except the fact that FFXI has kept this company afloat.

I know it's been really profitable for them down the long-run, but has it been their saving grace though? I thought Eidos was picking up the slack. Even though there will be people that'll readily buy MMO entires, I think they'll always lose a considerable segment of FF and DQ fans when they shoe-horn an MMO as an "official new, numbered main title."

They are hinting @ PS4 version I believe :D but never Wii U

So ready to Jam that Turbo!

I'm predicting the Grande Finale to be the announcement of some huge game we all want to play... Also predicting me be super disappointed.

I know I'm only one person, but if Square Enix hasn't convinced me by the end of this E3 that they can make competent games, whether at their conference or Sony/MS/Nintendo ones, I give up.

i'm under the impression that the only hint for a PS4 version is this
"Basically," said Wada, "I want to offer it through any means possible, but only after we've nailed the PS3 version we promised everyone."
which doesn't scream "PS4 confirmed, no Wii U" to me. i think he's being completely legitimate with this statement, he wants it on every platform that has any potential because square-enix really wants this game to get big. which is why i think a lot of this "future of final fantasy" stuff is to hype FFXIV 2.0, not promote Versus

I don't think that makes sense. Why would "the future of FF" be a reboot of an MMO that came out four years ago? XIV is important to them, but not that important. They also have SEVERAL events about XIV already in the livestream where it is clearly identified. Why be secretive about a game everyone already knows is at the conference?

lol, after how Dragon Quest X has done I doubt Squenix will be in a hurry to put any more MMOs on Wii U... or anything else for that matter after Deus Ex presumably.

this starts Monday or Tuesday?

Tuesday.

The header line is missing from the first screencap for some reason.

the future of final fantasy is the name of the entire conference - everything on this schedule (which is chock full of FFXIV events). you see how that event is called "future of final fantasy recap", it's a recap.

You're not reading this right. They're doing a literal recap of the invite-only press event that Kagari is going to on Tuesday morning, which is titled "The Future of Final Fantasy". That's what the "recap" is, they're going over what they talk about at that press conference.

It's not going to be all about XIV. If they mention it at all, it'll be minor. The focus of the Future of Final Fantasy press conference is clearly about the new game they're announcing. Otherwise it would say it was about XIV.

Again, there's NO REASON for them to be secretive about XIV details. The game is out in two months.

you got me, that schedule was really confusing. they are secretive about FFXIV details btw, don't know if you've been paying attention to that. we barely know anything, the bulk of the game is going to open up for beta the day after E3. my guess was that they were saving it for something

Then why allot 30 minutes for each? Grand Opening goes from 4:00 to 4:30 and Grand Finale goes from 8:30 to, what I assume is, 9:00. Would be odd to end at 8:30.

They're probably going to do some preview stuff at the beginning and some recaps at the end. Whatever new game is announced will be shown off on Monday first and recapped on Tuesday - they're not going to save it until the very end of E3, when all the journalists who could cover the game are going home.

Square Enix Japan loves using "Grand Finale" for things. It was even the name of a Final Fantasy VI soundtrack album.

There's a difference between being secretive and flat-out lying about what a press event is about, is the thing. Square has no reason to pretend a press event is not about XIV - if it was focused solely on that game, they would say that was what it was about in the name. Otherwise they'd piss people off.

Kinda wish it was a game.

Not until Versus comes out first. We've waited long enough.

(Personally, I don't want Agni to be a real game, or at least not the next major FF game. Square needs to take a few years off from female protagonists and learn how to write women as human beings instead of horrible caricatures.)

i didn't know what they said it was or wasn't about.
