All af that is referencing SE games, not global games (so it's the best SE Asian release and the most downloaded SE digital game in Japan). Still very good numbers but trying to avoid the "90% digital" comments in next M-C threads when the retail numbers appear

And we have a 60% shipment sold for FF XV in Japan for the first 3 days. Not knowing the initial shipment we can't conclude anything but percentage-wise it doesn't seem to be a good number for now (maybe in the weekend it can reach 80-90% and get a second shipment).

Were the people working on the game during that time getting paid or not?

Nothing really playable came out of it and people mainly worked to shore up teams for other SE titles like A Realm Reborn. I suppose you could argue it was a near ten year development time but what people know as Final Fantasy XV didn't really exist prior to 2013.

They've given the XIII-2 armour to male characters before, it wouldn't look too out of place on Noctis. Though I'd rather they just went with the original and its miniskirt.

FFXIII sold 1.5m in its first week, so, yes, 500k less than that would obviously be drastically down.

I think 1 million would actually be pretty great, as it is above everyone's predictions, especially when you count in the fact the declining consoles sales, and the fact that no PS4 game has yet to even reach that number in Japan.

XIII may have sold well, but it came off of previous good games to build the hype. The XIII series really soured people on Final Fantasy. If XV reaches a million sold it would be a testament that the series can still thrive in Japan's changing market (imo).
