The only thing Japanese players will need to play Street Fighter V during the next beta phase is an active PlayStation Plus subscription. Before, entries were chosen by lottery, making it much harder to get in when compared to the simple pre-order methods in other regions. Everyone who took part in the previous betas will also receive four invitations to send to PlayStation Network friends.

We’re currently uncertain if this will extend to areas outside of Japan, but we’ll be sure to update this article if we hear back from Capcom themselves on the matter.

Beta is coming back for the 18th - 20th for those that don't know.

I'm happy for all the new Japanese players who get to try out the Beta now, but does it make me a bad person that I'm worried that the influx of players from the far East will result in countless laggy matches that my poor American internet connection simply can't handle?

I kinda want to preorder just to have a fighting game to play. I'm getting it on Feb but most of the time I see people trying the beta they are in training mode trying to get a connection that don't kick them back to the training mode or freeze.

Hopefully this open to PS+ in Japan trial helps iron things out.

Wasn't the last spate of beta footage from when Capcom was just testing the servers for a few hours? During the last official PC beta period I had no problem getting matched up. It was actually kind of annoying because I would be lucky to go 30 seconds uninterrupted in the training mode.

That's good to hear, I'm sure it'll be great by launch, or maybe a week after if there's too many people on at once. I don't know if Capcom ever tested online this much before.

Isn't that the point? To, err, beta test...So the developer can generate data and compensate?
