I always buy the standard edition, and I'm starting to feel like I'm in the minority now. I'm concerned that due to those who opt for these pricey editions, developers might "remove" more(than now) story content from the base game in the future.

I just don't find value in most extra editions these days. Last one I got was FFXVI Deluxe Edition and it was a rip off.

95% of the time I go with standard. The other 5% I pick up limited/deluxe/bla bla if it comes with a dope collectible steelbook and the game is from a franchise I care about. Have zero interest in Collector's editions though as they take too much space.

Depends on the bonus content and how much I care about the game. For GTA VI or a Hitman game I will go for the deluxe versions, but for a standard Ubisoft game or something, I would get the cheapest option.

I prefer FromSoftware's approach to digital editions. Their standard editions are complete and their digital deluxe editions usually come with a digital artbook and/or soundtrack which makes the choice to go with the less expensive version easy for me.
