you can't put a price on sparks
finished season 1 of TNG, Lt. Yar dying was kinda sad cause she was a somewhat interesting character to have, but Worf being security chief just always what was part of the show to me before watching it on netflix, so its like whatever.

i didn't really like the last episode of the season, as it didn't explain ANYTHING nor have any continuance in season 2 (so far) about who or what destroyed all the colonies along the neutral zone. If it is revealed later, no one spoil it :p

Just watched Move Along Home as I started Season 1 of DS9 a few days ago. Not a very good episode and the only good part is when Odo busts out the "I'm not with Starfleet! (bitch)" and then makes the Lt. beam him aboard the ship. That was kinda cool, the rest of the episode sucked. Watching The Nagus now and will keep on trucking through the rest of Season 1. DS9 was always my favorite series growing up, so it is fun and nostalgic for me to be watching it again and in proper order.

I'm midway through DS9 season 5 myself (finished "By Inferno's Light" this evening). Fantastic show, and there's a good amount that never would have had a chance if Roddenbury was still around. For example, in "For the Uniform",
Sisko renders a whole planet uninhabitable just to catch Eddington, and the other officers looking at him with a collective WTF on their faces
, something which really shows how different the series is from its antiseptic predecessors. I'm aware of later episodes like "In the Pale Moonlight" expanding on this, but watching it happen is great.

Started Next Generation after finishing TOS back in August. First episode was pretty cool. Love Patrick Stewart. Love Frakes as well. Though I understand he's even better later on once his beard is equipped.

That beards stats were way too high.

I am almost finish with the voyager series. That captain janeway has got to be the worst star trek captain. her character is so fucking annoying, sometime I wish someone would tell her to shut the fuck up.

Agreed.

I'm such a terrible Trek fan. I watched TOS years ago (which is great), but other than that I've only seen some of Voyager and Enterprise . No DS9 or TNG...lol.

I'm the same way. I only ever saw TOS and Voyager before Netflix.

I'm currently watching through TNG. I love the character interaction and dialogue in this series. My favorite character by far is Data. The show can take itself too serious at times which leads to unintentional camp but these instances are rare after the first season.

I'm watching through TNG right now. I watched it when I was very young but only the first few seasons.

Seasons 1 and 2 were okay, a few good episodes here and there. But Season 3 has been pretty amazing so far. Ensigns of Command, Who Watches the Watchers, The Bonding have all been fantastic.

I did skip around quite a bit in the first two seasons though. I remember hating holodeck episodes, so I never watch those.

It's also pretty hilarious to see so many actors who would go on to some level of fame playing small minor roles. Like the sister from Mad About You, Bob Kelso from Scrubs, Secret Service Agent from 24, etc.

I was watching a DS9 episode last night that had the dude that played Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs playing some kind of big buff alien trader. I was expecting him to tell Quark to put the lotion on his skin! Lol. Also, one of the guys from Wings played a Bajoran Major, which was cracking me up and saw the guy that played Tuvok in Voyager as a Klingon. Love it.

Just finished watching Past Tense in season 3. I've never watched DS9 before this watch and it's a great show. But I was struck with just how much of a possibility the situation in this episode is.

I watched the first 6 episodes of DS9 season 6 all in a row yesterday, it was fucking awesome. It's a 6-episode arc, very different from anything before it in Trek, but it was so good. It also really showed how well developed now only the main characters but also many of the side ones were, which really made it seem like the broad series of events that it is. That huge space battle, goddamn.

Also, the scenes with Dukat and Weyoun going back and forth are fantastic.

Just watched S4:21 - "For the Cause". You know a show is great when secondary and tertiary characters (Garak and Cassidy Yates) can totally rock an episode.

People are bitching about Netflix, their stock is totally in the shitter and Reed Hastings is probably on suicide watch, but as long as I have DS9, I'm happy. SO GOOD!

Almost done DS9 season 3. I just have to say: I hate Kai Winn. Hate her, hate her, hate her. Is she considered a villain or just someone with different priorities? I see her as a huge villain.

Kai Winn was made to be hated, and she does it well. Just carry on.

Just finished season 1 of TOS. It went out with some bangers. The last few episodes were really intense.

Then season 2 kicked off with Amok Time, which was... wacky to say the least.

Kai Winn was never a black and white character. She was so very complex.

She was a deeply religious woman. She lived her life in service to teh Prophets. She endured the occupation at the hands of abusive Cardassians and survived on her faith alone. Then, an OUTSIDER, a non-Bajoran and disbeliever discovers the Celestial Temple! The home of her gods! And they CHOOSE HIM to be their Emissary!

She resents him so very much that she is blind to everything else. She succumbs to ambition and overrides her sense of right and wrong at times because she wants to feel the love and attention the Prophets show Sisko.

At face value she is totally a douchetard villain. But look at her motivations and history and you realize she is deeply flawed. She wants to live by the Prophets rules but Sisko is the one great reminder of the betrayal they showed her.

kai winn is a great character. but she doesn't gain most of the depth you're ascribing to her until the later seasons (the same is true for gul dukat). she was pretty one-dimensional at first, but just phenomenal in the last few seasons, especially the very last one - even though they butchered her final moments on the show. well, they butchered the final moments of the show itself, really, despite the fantastic 10 episode arc.

Watching Whom Gods Destroy for the first time ever.

Wow, this is laughably bad. This is like the worst episode of the entire TOS. The opening five minutes are so terrible I laughed out loud, and the rest of the episode is practically incoherent.

I'm in the middle of watching DS9 7.11 'Prodigal Daughter'. It's strange to think that I am almost done, but what a fantastic show so far. I need to rewatch 'Far Beyond the Stars' soon as well, I think I blanked on replying to Dax regarding it since I wanted to see it again first (sorry!).

Well if anyone is, they get to watch the best DS9 episode this week.

Sweet, I'm still ahead of the game, even with watching every episode and doing Voyager before DS9.

I was thinking of recommending DS9 to one of my friends. He has Netflix so I figured it's easy access. However, did they fix the issue with episode order?

DS9 sure has some really nice characters to follow

I am up to Blood Oath
the episode before that seeing Quark in love was pretty cool

I still see the orders are messed up a bit for the first season but not enough to mess up the continuing story lines

I think it was only two episodes that switched places early on
and the plots for them were pretty much self contained

I just finished 'Badda-Bing Badda-Bang', and now all I've got left is the 10-episode long finale. I loved the 6-episode arc in season 6, so this should make for a great time over the holiday weekend.

I think my favorite thing about the show has been it's use of the non-regular characters. In TNG you really only had Guinan, Barclay, Lore, Q, and O'Brien as consistent characters (I'm sure I'm missing a few), but they were often just there. Voyager had a few recurring ones (Seska, Naomi's kid, Icheb) as well, but DS9's static setting really let them push the limits of this to excellent results. You've got bigger series-long ones like Garak, Dukat, and Rom, late ones like Vic Fontaine, and a ton of others (Nog, Morn, Leeta, Kai Winn, Weyoun, Martok, Ishka, Zek, Kasidy, and so many more), all serving to expand the characters and the world in a way that really stands above anything else Trek has done. 'It's Only a Paper Moon' is an episode starring two non-main characters (mains have little presence in it), and it works as well as it does because the show took the time to flesh them out. The character development of many of the side characters is really impressive, since some are more developed than many mains on the others Treks (and even Jake in this one). I'm mostly just gushing here, but I really am impressed at how they stretched this, especially compared to the concurrently-running Voyager.

I am up to Season 6
Who will morn Morn?

Morn has been a running joke through out DS9

Was there ever any other character like Morn in Star Trek?
I loved the way he never said a word but people kept talking about him saying stuff, or talking about his life

I don't like the idea of having him die

Enterprise tried to do something like Morn with the ships Chef who was talked about but never even seen. Didn't work.

FUN FACT: In the "Who Mourns For Morn" episode, the Bajoran that Quark pulls from the crowd to fill morn's seat is the actor who plays Morn.

"there is nothing here but worthless gold!"

This Morn episode was the first time I noticed Latnum was not gold bars
what the hell was that liquid? I heard gold pressed latnum - Quark said that the gold is the outer shell

Morn is back

I'm rewatching DS9, and just skipping any episode dealing with Bajoran religious stuff. Much better run through.

I still hate the Bajoran uniforms with a passion, and the Vorta are one of the worst make up designs for a major race in Star Trek. Terrible.

I find the religious stuff interesting, to see Science Fiction dealing with it and seeing that there is something real living in the wormhole and Sisko playing his role its not a bad thing, they have Obs that actually work

Its not like real life where people pray and nothing happens and God never talks.

And the Vorta were designed by the Founders what do you expect from solid haters?
Well since you are skipping around maybe you did not notice these little jokes about these religious themes

I've watched the whole show in it's entirety, so this time I'm skipping the part that didn't work for me. Sisko as Jesus drives me up the wall.

I'm all for terrible designs for minor races, or monster of the week, but a major race should have some effort put in, that's all I'm saying. Although I like your "Founders trolling everybody" theory. Lol.

No seriously the Vorta have bad eyesight and a whole bunch of other failings its a great troll :p

What I found more annoying than Sisko Christ is the damn time travel / mirror universe stuff in every other episode

I am not sure if I liked the Mirror Universe much at all it was fun to see them play darker roles but I cringed every time they came back. BDSM KIRA needs to die lol

Yeah, I'm skipping the mirror Universe stuff this time as well. Makes for a much tighter run, and I'm appreciating the parts I do like that much more.

hmmm I think I should add that I think the Founders' design is the worst in Star Trek
the Original series had a lot of bad designed aliens but damn took me a very long time to like seeing Odo

Founders = F
Vorta = D
Jem'Hadar = A
Bajorans = D+ (just lazy)
Cardassian = C+ I hate the shoulder neck :p
Tril = A+ spots yum :)

The mirror universe was indeed a slog to get through. Just not very entertaining episodes. I don't care to see alternate and less-likeable versions of characters that I actually like!

Time travel plots never bothered me though, especially the absolute gem of an episode in season 4.

It just bothers me that so many "oops" something goes wrong and we are cast back in time
what was the gem ep in season 4?

the Roswell one?

I remember enjoying "Trials and Tribble-ations" just because it was fanservice

I liked the Vorta design. Seemed pretty unique. Great jobs with teh eyes too.

As for the Mirror Universe, they just got worse. I enjoyed the first one. Thought it was s really clever way to revisit the TOS episode by essentially saying that Kirk screwed everything up for Humanity. But it just got more and more silly.
