Hey guys what's the deal with series 6 of clone wars? It doesn't seem to be available in the UK. Does anything of importance really happen there (see it refered to as 'The Lost Missions' in places) or can the clone wars series mainly be considered as 1-5?

Important developments happen in it, I'd try to check it out if you can.

Hot damn, I had heard TCW got a big visual upgrade in S3, and now I'm there and yeah... It shows. Actually I couldn't really see much difference with S3e1 but episode 2 really looks fantastic!

Just finished the last 2 episodes of Clone Wars!

Fantastic Storytelling! Maybe Lucas should have done the prequels Animated. He seems to be able to tell a more coherent story in animated form.

Lucas is a fantastic story guy. Its when he's left to his own devices it gets into trouble. He had a fantastic team to take his ideas and bring them to life.

The series really does have some of the most amazing stories told in the lore of star wars

I wish Disney just gave the Clone Wars team full control to basically redo Ep1-3 as animated series.
Not really changing anything major but with better dialog, characterizations, pacing and tone they can turn them into something the fanbase could get behind.

I actually think TPM could have made a great mid-tier CW season without much change to the basics.

I'm 5 eps into Rebels and really loving it so far. Maybe it's because I had low expectations going into it, but I'm pleasantly surprised. While I loved the end of season 5 of CW, season 6 didn't quite do it for me because there were so many storylines left hanging. It'll be interesting to see how many of those are revisited in Rebels.

Still working my way through season 1, just got to Lair of Grievous.

Man what a great episode that was, so dark and creepy. "You can't defeat us all!" "Of course I can." So far I'm preferring the episodes that focus more on the characters you don't see in the films, as there's more tension when you don't know that everyone will be fine in time for RotS. Even though he's a maniacal killer cyborg, I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for Grievous when he's talking about his 'improvements'... and he was so sad when the Jedi killed his pet monster.

Just started Season 5 for Clone Wars.

It's funny. I put season 1 on in the background as I got ready for work in the morning, or during my lunch break at home.

Before Season 2 was over, it has been promoted to nightly viewings with the wife (who now wont let me continue watching without her).

Is Rebels also on Netflix? If not, how could I go about watching it in the states?

You can watch it through the Disney XD website but you have to have a participating cable subscription. Otherwise, you will have to buy it. There is a Season 1 Blu-Ray out and the individual episodes are up on Amazon as well.

The two Mandalore episodes in season 3 have been... Eh, okay I guess. I don't get why Satine wanted to burn down the warehouse, that was weird. I thought there would be an explanation, but then there just wasn't.

The second episode where the cadets bring down the prime minister was pretty good, but I kinda disliked how it explored all these ethical concepts and questions (did the noble goal of exposing corruption justify the means of the kids breaking the law, breaking in to the warehouses?) ...

Then resolved those questions by just having Ashoka kick everyone's ass. 😕

Edit: oh wow, the next episode reveals in the intro narration that Aurra Sing
was killed when Ashoka took down Slave I with her light saber. I just figured Aurra lived considering the ship obviously did.

Edit 2:
oh.

In other news, it's dumb that Ashoka sleeps in her usual clothes including her boots. Would a second model really be THAT expensive?

That, and/or more likely having 5 full seasons allows for much better character development. IMO he started the prequels too far back timewise( Anakin at 8 years old), which then gave him two movies to tick off too many boxes connecting to the OT. Anakin, for one, comes off as properly sympathetic in a way the PT movies could never achieve.

Just starting season 5 and absolutely loving it. I'm excited to go back and watch episodes II and III after I finish Clone Wars. I think there will be a lot of stuff that I see in a new light. I wonder if it will give me new appreciation for those movies.

As others have stated, one of my favorite things about this series is the way they handle Anakin. He's such a great character here. He almost always means well and wants to do the right thing, and he's always reckless, but you see him start to cross the line more and more in the later seasons.

I'm also gaining new appreciation for Obi-wan. I always thought he was a bit of a stiff in the movies, but the stuff with Satine and Maul's return really helped to flesh him out as a character. I know there's more stuff with him and Maul at the end of season 5, and I'm very much looking forward to that.

Again, as others have mentioned, the handling of the clones has also been great. The Umbara arc has been talked about again and again here, and for good reason. Easily one of the highlights of the series for me so far. And Krell was pretty fucking badass.

Ahsoka is starting to become one of my favorite characters in the entire Star Wars mythos, as is Cad Bane. I love both of them.

I'm so glad that I decided to start watching this show. After I finish streaming on Netflix I think I'll buy the blu-rays.

Just wanted to bump the thread again to thank you guys for getting me to watch this show. I'm on season 3 now, and this is quite possibly my single favourite piece of Star Wars media.

I cant believe that they have basicly a adaption of Aliens in the Geonosis arc.

Oh shit, and now they did the Please kill me Chestbusterthing. Wtf.

Just finished 210 "The Deserter".

That episode is so awesome. Just a little story in a big war in a galaxy far, far away, but it's just told really well and manages to ask some really big questions in a really small way while it's at it.

In my opinion, this may be one of the best little bits of Star Wars ever. Even if it actually broke one continuity guideline to do it.
Star Wars does not use paper.

You just blew my mind
There are a few things missing from our own world in Star Wars to subtly give it a more alien feel. Notice how whenever a hard copy of any information changes hands, it's a hologram, a datapad, or some kind of disk. It's never paper, and no desk, no matter how cluttered, has a pile of papers on it.

Now then in the spirit of that same idea,
have you ever seen a Star Wars vehicle with wheels?

True, there are some wheeled vehicles. It's not as hard a rule as the no paper one is, and even that one is broken once in a while.

I just like the paper avoidance thing. It's such a mundane way to make something feel a little off, but not in a way that you think about.

I was actually a little bit confused when I flipped through the pages of the Darth Plagius book and saw that they were eating Steak. Its not canon anymore, but I thought it was weird.

I really really loved the Mandalore Arc and what they did with Obi Wan in here.

Just dont like that all mandelorians wear the same armor. Would have liked more variations.

Are you talking the Season 2 Mandalore arc?
Yes

Finished Season 2... Loved to see Boba again, didnt expected him to appear.
Now in the first Episode with the Domino Unit. The clone focused episodes are under the best.

Edit2: Oh shit, the second Kamino episode.
In memory of 99 😢

Wait until you get to Darkness in Umbara. Best Star Wars story ever written. Absolutely phenominal tension and battlefield story telling.

I've only watched 4 episodes of Clone Wars and Anakin is damn likable in this. This alone already makes it better than any of the prequel movies. Can't wait to watch more.

Really did t expected Greedo to show up.
I am just a little bit sad, that only Jabba spoke a alien language up to thisnpoint. This especially hurted Greedos appearence.
But its for the kids, so thats maybe the reason and I understand why they did this.

I imagine you're only on the first season and if that's the case the best is yet to come lol. I envy you because I'd love to rewatch Clone Wars with no memory of it.

If I remember right, they don't ever use subtitles in the show. They either have the aliens speaking english or have someone basically repeat what the alien said in english when giving their response.

Definitely a decision made for younger audiences.

I don't really mind it too much.

Watched the first 2 Rebels episodes. Enjoyed it, somehow feels more SW-ish than CW, but damn did the Wookies look crappy compared to the ones in Clone Wars lol.

Overall I'm okay with the animation style but Ezra looks out of place, especially his ugly tentacle hair.
Also not really a fan of Zeb. Cheap wookie wannabe
