Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

I've been going through CW and am on season three. The series as a whole has been getting better and better, but holy shit did it REALLY level up for me after the three Mortis episodes.

So good. Could have been a stand alone movie.
Just realized I am a couple eps away from that arc. Hooray! Have also started rebels so will go back to clones before continuing.

People that dislike Anakin really need to watch all of the Clone Wars,
Actually a decent character there that you start to understand why he loses trust in the Jedi.
(though nothing will make up for straight up murdering kids though.)

Natalie looks miserable except in that peacock hat thing.

That's not what he's saying at all, though.

Probably because even as a first-time viewer he understands how ridiculous that notion is.

Bad movies don't make good movies worse just because they share a name.
Anakin is the same character as Vader and both trilogies are in the same canon, so they can in some way.
The way they portrait vaders youth and turn to the dark side ruined a lot of the OT Vader character.

I agree that the portrayal of Anakin Skywalker and his transition to Darth Vader in ROTS ultimately hurts the image of Darth Vader in the OT, if you let that influence your perception. But there's no reason you need to let that dominate your own view of the material. I just don't imagine a burned Hayden Christiansen under that armor when I'm watching Eps 4-6.

If you let 'em, sure.

They're also completely separate movies. So you can judge them on their own merits as films.

It's not mutually exclusive, surely. While I (hope) that I am capable of judging a film on its own merits, the knowledge of the full narrative would automatically color my perception of a character and their arc. Nothing short of pretending the other films don't exist or don't count would alleviate that.

I'm watching through The Clone Wars right now and while I can root for Anakin and his adventures, I also can't help but think "you arrogant little shits" every time him and Ahsoka pride themselves as delinquent Jedi.

To be fair, the council is beyond shitty sometimes.

And they're just following Qui-Gon's footsteps

I didn't say that it was. Just that you don't have to let the quality of a completely separate movie color your perception of one made previously. People like to act like they're powerless to think that way, and they aren't at all. It's a choice they make, to buy into that as fully as they do. They're not compelled to do it.

When ar eyou guys going on blackout? Already had some podcasts spoil some things sadly this week, this shit is everywhere now D:

Yar, that's just it. On one hand, this particular episode I'm watching put the Council in an unsympathetic light. On the other hand, I have knowledge that, when it's all said and done, Anakin's not actually any better. Sometimes, it's a bummer.

This is one of those things that are logically sound but are emotionally difficult to accomplish.

A couple days before the movie comes out. I'm pretty good at avoiding spoilers. What podcasts were they?

Forceast recently, sadly, they do the whole dance around certain things then keep "hinting" over and over til you get the damn point.

Rebel Force Radio seems quite loose about it to

The book of ROTS says his 'mask' was removed and showed his true self.

But it wasn't said in a literal sense that his evil face was somehow his natural appearance that he had been hiding by any intention. It just meant that it was more accurate a look for the person he really was. The fact remained that he burned his face off with his own lightning.

And so the mask becomes the man." He sighed with a hint of philosophical melancholy. "I shall miss the face of Palpatine, I think; but for our purpose, the face of Sidious will serve. Yes, it will serve".

He's basically saying its ironic that he looks evil as fuck now, cause, well, he is. And then he goes on to say it will serve because he then goes and uses it as proof that the Jedi are the bad guys by claiming they did it to him. Which is in the movie too.

If its what I'm thinking (the thing in the poster?), one of their shows spoiled that for me a couple months ago, because starwars.com had something about it. So when I heard it on one of the recent shows I already knew.

Try Coffee with Kenobi. Those dudes are pretty hardcore against knowing any spoilers going into the movie's launch.

Uhh...
Is that Luke in the corner...?

I think I can see it. Newsweek and Lucasfilm were really tricky with this one. I found Luke in the bottom right corner actually, he's in the shroud you just gotta:

1) take a picture of your computer screen
2) upload the picture to your computer or directly to a printer
3) print the picture
4) put the picture up near a mirror
5) put your head through the god damn mirror

luke is never turning to the dark side.

if i could be hyperbolic here for a second
every single one of those character pictures looks so fucking horrible and unappealing it makes me angry just looking at them. god i hate the way that show looks

end hyperbole

To be honest, it's still better than anything I've seen from Rebels.

question:

Is this movie filmed in 48fps or higher?

I am thinking if I should watch it in 3D or not, if its not High frame rate I will not be seeing this in 3D as it just blur the movie up

It was not shot on trash 48fps. It was shot on glorious 35mm film (with some sequences shot in IMAX 70mm) at 24fps (god's frame rate).

Yikes, then no 3D for me. Hate the blur and smudge effect it gives.

Yeah the 3D is post convert. It's all about making extra $$ on ticket sales for the 3D on this one. The intended way to THE FORCE AWAKENS is in 2D. (And well 35mm or IMAX 70mm would really be the best way, but good luck finding a print anywhere lol)

I am so glad there was pretty much universal backlash to the high frame rate in the Hobbit. Let it die and never come back.

well I truly liked it and hope it comes back bigger than ever.
BUT I get what your saying, the costumes and special effects like hair and make up needs to be PERFECT for it to work. if they get that stuff down, then High frame rate is the future and the only way to go.

I dont like to watch a blurry mess when I watch 3D and with normal film that tends to happen.
