Jar Jar.
Can't be, nobody would cry over him.
Jar Jar.
Korea eh? Wonder what she'd think about the canon Korean webtoon adaptation of the OT.

Have you ever studied war before the last 100 years? Drummers, bagpipes, bugles, trumpets, singing, sound blaring from helicopters - music and song has a long standing history with the human race as a way to rally troops, intimidate the enemy and serves as a reflection of the culture of the army.
The concept makes a ton of sense. It's a pretty damn interesting and out there way to incorporate a classic part of war culture but the concept of a vehicle blasting music itself is completely believable in the construct of the world being established.
Kylo Rey?What are the chances that Kylo Ren and Rey are related? Totally flimsy, but since Luke and Leia's names both start with L, maybe same in this case?

The cynic in me says the aging of the OT might have unpleasant effects. There was that one gaffer who did the same as you, and ended up sad because his gf made fun of it. Lmfao

Of course they are going to be. Theres no way based on that trailer shes not lukes. Also kylo has vaders mask which could only have been taken from luke so shes probably his but more likely han and leias given his age vs reys and lukes vs hans
Kylo Rey?

Never saw Kylo as an actual name, but more like how all the sith had "Darth" before their name since the dude loves Vader.
Isn't the Ren part the actual part that he took from the group he was from?
My girlfriend heard I was hyped for this movie, and watched the trailer.
She was so intrigued, now she wants to watch the originals.
Guys... I'm pretty sure she doesn't know Darth Vader is Luke's father. She is from Korea, and doesn't have a nerdy bone in her body, and none of her friends do as well.
Cannot wait to play out this experiment...
Isn't the Ren part the actual part that he took from the group he was from?
Report back in with results.
Also, do it sooner rather than later - spoilers for the original will be everywhere as hype builds.
Yup. It seems to be that he is named Kylo, a knight of Ren.
Who are the knight of Ren?
Who are the knight of Ren?
These guys presumably:
I dunno.... dark side fanboys? I haven't spoiled myself to know yet.
They are the Knights who say.. REN!
Presumably these

Luke was filming for VIII recently. The thing that I don't like (im quick on this one but eh). will be that Leia, Han, Chewi, and maybe Luke won't be in the other episodes.. are they going to just kill them off?
I'm sad.
Luke was filming for VIII recently.
and you've been making shit up all thread. As I pointed out before,Alec Guinness was filming for V
Apparently there's a music-only version on the Disneyland facebook page.
Seems like they accidentally uploaded a version that only features surround channels as the audio.
So we aren't supposed to know anything about them yet?

It's really cool like that actually so someone please make sure that I can still get to it when they've realized their mistake lolIt also has no end titles for some reason.

It's like they are actually trying to mirror the directorial quality bar of the OT.VII - JJ Abrams
VIII - Rian Johnson
IX - Colin Trevorrow
Maybe they had twincest kids for a higher chance of Jedi babies.I hope Han will make a callbacks to this;

IV - Lucas (original, inspired, populist but blinkered approach to filming characters and technically not that gifted or brilliant as people think)
V - Kershner (Unique, off-beat, focused on character and dialogue interactions, free-form direction; clashes with studio approach, input, and editing)
VI - Marquand (Average director at best, end up having original director ghost directing pretty much the entire film)
Conclusion: JJ will probably ghost direct IX.
(Just in case it's not clear - I'm just kidding around.)
Just that both Lucas and JJ are nowhere near as great as most people give them credit for. They are both good at mimicking styles. Lucas was inspired in that he mimicked the old style of Saturday morning adventures and used classic / basic mythic storytelling elements but told them with the aid of new technologies and (thanks to the editing of his ex-wife) did so in a dynamic way, at a time when movies were quite dark and cynical. Similarly, JJ is great at mimicking that style of directors from the Lucas and Spielberg era and playing on those emotional and nostalgic beats, without really adding anything meaningful or authentic himself. They are good, not great was the point I was making. It's just an opinion; and as I said - I wasn't being very serious about it.What does that even mean?
That whole "the Jedi and Sith are mythical" 30 years after ROTJ is not the worst timeline offender if you count the ones done by the prequel trilogy.
I think the big fuckup in time continuity actually already happened with the prequels and that they were placed only 18 years before ANH, making Ben Kenobi 56 years old.
The story demands the prequel story to happen somewhat close to ANH because of Luke and Leia's birth and Anakin's fall but it was just too close for my liking.
Anakin could have been way older by the time he had kids and him "fighting in the Clone Wars" with Ben Kenobi could have happened way before. When Luke spoke of the clone wars it always felt like Obi Wan was a 100 year old wizard and had seen some mythical shit. In reality the Clone Wars ended 18 years before.
That is like a kid today asking their uncle if they fought in Afghanistan.
If only the Clone Wars would have been what was originally envisioned..
I know it's probably not expected but hasn't everyone overlooked that Leia has the force as well and a good 30 years to develop it just because it's Carrie Fisher. Whether she has or not who knows.
Indeed. The problem is not 6-7, the problem is the proximity of 1-3. If the Jedi had been fading for a couple centuries, due to the influence of the dark side or just unexplained, then they get eradicated then 50-100 after that Luke and Leia are born the timeline becomes pretty plausible I think. They feel consistent between ANH and this, unless we assume Luke publicises his acts. Which would be out of character, to me.
There's one thing that kind of bugs me about this trailer, something that makes it very un-Star Wars-y. There is not a single alien in the whole trailer, aside from Chewie in a single scene. All the resistance ground crew and pilots in the trailer are humans.
I have a feeling that the Resistance vs First Order thing has changed the scope of the war. The Empire is no more, and apparently alien planets, sectors and whatnot have broken off completely. It seems to have gone from a Rebel Alliance of all races against a humanocentric fascist Empire to a human civil war story of liberalist Resistance vs authoritarian First Order where both sides are human.
This is.. different to say the least. And it kind of explainswhy Luke would kind of step aside and away from the fight, he is not a political figure and does not want to be. He only gets involved when it's discovered that the First Order has a galaxy threatening weapon/agenda.
