Nice OT, the demo was ok, if it had move support i wouldn't hesitate but as it is now i'll pass. Seems like a big improvement over the first tho.

I approve of this style of OTs.

Demo was really, really average. Awful "lock-on" and awful camera really brings it down several notches.

Is it true that the "Star Destroyer" moment in the game is
you ploughing through a big space battle using the force to toss capital ships out the way?

i haven't played the demo yet but can you disengage the lightsaber in this? i had an issue with the first game where i thought it was silly of a jedi to just have his lightsaber on at all times.

I wonder how different the Wii version will be.

The SD version of the original was quite different in many ways, from story to gameplay. This one seems to be even more different.

I really want this, will I need to have played the original game though? I wanted it for PC but 30gigs is insane and I've never really heard good things about it.

Should enjoy, even though the story is pretty laughable.

Honestly, for me it's the other way around. I only liked the story and music of the original game, and that is what I am looking forward here. I want to know what happens next.

Good OT, will be buying when it comes out. I predict i'll have a blast with the gameplay. Already know about the story, it will be funny. I'm not in the least suprised, for me Haden Blackman is one of the worst Star Wars writers. Was really glad to hear he had left and then just the other day he says in an interview that he would still be willing to work with Lucasarts on Tfu3 and that he already has the story completely planned out, shit.

Yep. You can see that moment for a brief second in the trailer that comes with the demo.

I don't see why you'd blame this game for that when cloning Jedis has been a part of Star Wars canon for a long time now.
No, cloning jedi's was deemed impossible in canon. Cloning jedi's would have come in handy during the clone wars. Now cloning force users in the EU, that's another thing.

Doesn't seem like it. This was also one of my complaints that i had hoped they would fix in the sequel. Now instead looking stupid running around with one saber all the time, you're running around with two sabers.

Yeah, I agree. I really don't see what was so wrong about the story in the first game. I'm not a Star Wars superfanboy, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I thought the story was well told and avoided the cheese.

Huh. I could have sworn I read a book in the 90's where they cloned Jedis, but then again that was before midichlorians were introduced.

Can't wait, the first one was awesome. I kinda liked the story of the original, especially the interactions with Darth Vader.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

WUT???? PC version took 30gigs?? I don't even think my World of Warcraft folder with all expansions requires that much...

You probably did but the book wasn't canon. As i said, in the EU cloning jedi/sith happens all the time.

Hey... I like the first game. It was pretty shitty, but I liked it. At least the price was right (free). Thanks futureshop!

I'm interested in this game now that it's launching on PC and won't be 30GB :lol

Yeah, they got lazy and each level contains a copy of each graphical asset in the game. So you'll have a copy of the same texture a few dozen times. Lazy lazy lazy.

Aren't there different levels of canon though?

Like

1. George Lucas said it / It was in the movies.
2. Stuff from the Novels (Del Rey, Bantam)
3. Dark Horse Comics
4. Video games
5. Junior novels (Schoolastic)
6. Marvel Comics
7. Kids books and games

I thought most people considered at least the first 3 to be "canon" or something... As they all try to be consistent with each-other.

One difference is that you don't have to swing the remote to swing your lightsaber anymore, which is good. Also I believe there is some pointer gameplay for Force powers. Multiplayer is like Smash which should be an improvement over the duel mode in the first game, but then I remember I played TMNT Smash up which is supposed to be a Smash clone too.

I remember seeing some screens in Nintendo Power and it looked decent.

You're...kinda correct.

Like the OT. Better than the multi-post corp ads we're usually subjected to.

I hope this game doesnt screw the canon up anymore. :lol

I am playing through the first unleashed now (just got around to it, don't ask) and really enjoying it. Don't see why all the hate. Unleashed II seems like more of the same so that's fine by me.

darthbob said:

That's kind of out of date, right now with LFL it's basically all in continuity. The only difference is Lucas vs. everything else as he himself said as much. They used to try to keep things away from each other like in the Bantam books era where they didn't acknowledge the video games or marvel comics, but thats no longer the case. LFL's stance right now is pretty much it's all in continuity unless it just can't fit or goes against something specific Lucas says/does.

Right now its basically what Lucas does (movies/clone wars) and everything else in the other category.

Well you could read the book instead :lol

The first game while being out there wasn't that bad story wise, though it had me roll my eyes at some things as it felt like some bad fanfiction at times. But either way I thought TFU1 worked well on it's on story wise.... making a sequel though and it's premise is just a bit too far even though it looks cool. Seems like Jerry Bruchkeimer presents Star Wars to me I guess. And Maulkiller..... yikes.

Was it just me or did they drop some of the physics engines the first one used? the DMM seemed absent this time around, and the Euphoria seemed toned down a lot. Perhaps I'm mistaken though but my experience with this demo seemed much more watered down and a whole lot less polished, though the combat seemed a bit more entertaining somehow :lol

Dont know, seemed better. If anything I think it was a bit floaty and overdone in the first game, they might have toned it down to be less crazy this time around?

Using force push on metallic walls and windows seemed to have no physics involved, let alone simple model swap/geometry swap... so I was led to believe that perhaps they cut the DMM for budget or something...

Wow.:lol
But anyway, George Lucas fucked the series in the first place(with the New Trilogy)so i kinda don't care about all the continuity matter.
To me, SW is just the first 3 movies, the rest is just mindless fun or stupid shit to laugh about.

Also, was DMM toned down? Cause in the demo is almost non existent.

Gameinformer's review. 7.75 Second Opinion 7

+ One of the best looking games this generation
+ Combat has been refined

- Terrible groan inducing plot
- No level variety
- By the numbers boss battles

I liked the first game, and ADORED the demo for the second.

Will pick this up 100%

Looks amazing, and plays much tighter than the first.

I just watched the cutscenes on Youtube. The demo for the game was not fun.

I agree that I did not expect the sequel to be about him. The teaser trailer seemed ridiculous to me, but after seeing clips of the cutscenes for this game, I got excited anyway.

So.... does this mean we get to play most levels twice like in DMC4 or the first TFU, or just that the levels are uninspired?
