Star Wars THE FORCE UNLEASHED 2 |OT| You can use TWO lightsabers now

I'll keep my preorder for now and hope to see some more positive reviews closer to release. Thats as good as I can do for now. The whole playing in the 'Star Wars Universe' is the biggest draw for me, but I really don't wanna support lazy game development; ie. if the final product is a) super short and b) has had no effort put into its story.

I can't wait to hear the score.

I expected more from the graphics of the Wii version, but I guess like the first game, I shouldn't expect Rogue Squadron graphics.

Hearing five hours is a little disappointing, but I'm still not convinced the game was played on a very difficult setting. I didn't expect the game to be terribly long either. But if it's anything like the first, the different powers and such should give a nice boost to replay value, as long as there are no completely infuriating encounters like the first area of the Death Star. Has anyone heard if there's New Game+ in the sequel?

Nope, less than 5 hours.
(This dude was streaming the game a few moments ago.)
Also, the story is really bad.

Yea... it was not even 5 hours on medium and the thing that made it almost 5 hours (instead of just over 4) was an annoying last boss fight that went on FOREVER (seriously). If you take that out of the game (which you should as it looks like it plays horribly and is no fun) it's only 4-4 1/2 hours. Also this guy was getting holocrons and upgrading and doing SOME side stuff (I saw him) for people who think he was blazing through. Also is it me or do you feel like this game doesn't really end? What a HORRIBLE ending this game has.

I'll still get it (because I'm getting it basically for "free" with Blockbuster's "each game you trade in get 25% off this game" deal and I'm hoping for some good DLC) but what a stinker of a game. I feel bad for someone who pays a full $60 for this (worse for people who bought collector's editions).

Judging by the name of the achievement and the way the novel ends, I think that's the evil ending, which everybody knows won't be "canon" so they just threw some stuff together I guess. The good ending seems to be more of an actual ending but it's pretty silly.

There is video proof on the last page if you need it. Sheesh guys. He was playing on medium. You are right there is probably a Sith Lord you unlock after Hard (like the first game) but a good game shouldn't need such gimmicks to prolong it's life. And I was such a supporter of this game (and thread) before this. :(

I think I decided to just get the regular edition of the game. The only reason I'd want the collector's was for the steelbook and the three challenge levels but I bet those will come out via DLC eventually.

Not only that, but I can take the $10 I get from Amazon for the regular edition of the game, take this $25 Amazon gift card I have, and get something else like Kirby's Epic Yarn or Epic Mickey.

i really hope their next game isn't in any of the trilogy timeline and be in the old republic days.

just played the demo and the graphics looks a lot better. the scenes are very corny however which i've expected. still can't disengage the saber but at least if you stay idle for a minute, it does.

As I said, unless the encounters are just flat out bullshit, like some in the original game, there should be plenty of replay value. I went through the first game three or four different times, even with the annoying shit like the hangar bay of the Death Star.

I do wish LucasArts would finally move beyond the established time period and make a Force Unleashed style game that takes place in the Old Republic. Or hell, even in the New Republic, or the second galactic civil war. There's only so many ways you can cram side stories into what's already been established through six movies.

THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST GAMES I HAVE HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF KNOWING OF IT'S EXISTENCE.

It's the shortest expansion pack I have ever seen. Is this a joke? I think the expansion pack for the first game was longer than this. It definitely had the same number of levels.

The story is so short it could be told in one episode of the Clone Wars. In fact, this deserves to be on that show, because it certainly isn't worth $60. Or $10.

Not only that, the game is awful. It's a pain to play, wave after wave of enemies and button mashing. Power-ups are totally pointless for a game only 20% longer than Star Fox 64.

And even though most of this game has the greatest graphics I have ever seen in a videogame, the graphical glitches are horrendous. There are various times when the skybox disappeared, animations were missing, and just plain old bad stuff.

I always thought you were supposed to build upon previous generations, not have the best of his gen (shaders) and the worst of the PS1/N64 gen (craftmanship).

Heck, I don't remember Super Mario 64 having a skybox that popped in and out in random shots.

Also, the music is completely recycled from the first game, I did not hear anything new in this game at all. It was all just tracks from TFU1's OST and the OST of the movies cut and mixed together. At least the Clone Wars has it's own original score, no matter how bad the music is.

Who in their right minds would spoil an entire game for themselves by watching a stream of it online? Some of you honestly puzzle me.

It's a game, not a movie. Watching the whole thing online should not be that big a deal, because the fun is in playing it. If watching someone else play it ruins the game for you, then you might as well get the novelization.

At this point I'm just curious as to how bad the story is. Usually I don't really let such things get to me in a videogame but it seems very unanimous. I'll still give it a rental but it sounds like they dropped the ball big time.

Shame, too, because these games had a lot of potential.

As bad as you'd expect fan fiction to be. With the added problem that there's barely nothing to it.

Need to make a choice, this or new Vegas.

Still leaning toward this so far, but opinions seem to be extremely polarised so far...

RAWR, why can't LucasArts give me a Star Wars game with a decent story. Since KotOR 2 it's just been crap, crap, crap, crap....

Give the IP to someone else, let them have a go.

They do it all the time. You think Lucasarts makes most of these games?

For the past decade, most have been outsourced, including Bioware for KOTOR.

Vegas might be glichy as fuck but at least you are going to get 24+ hours out of it to...maybe 50+ depending on how you play. Despite what people are saying about Vegas the graphics still look very nice to me and the atmosphere is great.

I was excited about Star Wars but I could never justify spending $60 for a 4 hour game even a 6 hour game. If I don't get at least 10 solid hours of gameplay without replaying or doing filler stuff its not worth the full price. At that point its a rental or a $30 game.

I played the force unleashed 2 demo and I can't say I was impressed. The moves were cool but the whole flying between tie fighters and how quickly the AT&Ts died from my powers ruined it for me. They made him seem way more powerful then Luke, Vader and the whole Empirial Fleet. I have to admit the graphics are amazing but still a 2.5 hour movie on blue-ray is $20 so I would still get more time out of 2 movies then this game for less.

Go with Vegas imho. 4 to 5 hours of gameplay no matter how pretty is a slap in the face to gamers with out some sort of co-op or MP tacked on for replayability. Now if this w as like Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 and even if the story was short and blew but it had some bad ass Star Wars fighting engine mode outside of the main quest like in Umlimate Ninja 2 where I could fight against other Jedi or the Dark lord of the Sity himself that would be a different story. In this case..."Negative Ghostrider the pattern is full". This thing might as well remain on the shelf at the store as far as I am concerned.

In 2004 they brought a new manager in who decided that big Star Wars games were going to stop being made by other studios with a new focus on the internal studio. I guess they make more money that way.
I think the last time we got a big Star Wars game developed by someone other than LucasArts was Empire at War, and that was ages ago.

And then they fired most of the TFU team, twice. And they were probably like: "We get half a job, you get half a game" :lol

Yeah, I already said it.

No, not really. You implied that you disagreed with me, but it wasn't a complete enough thought to mean anything, at least yet.

You want to fix that?

It's more the over-the-top rage and near-hyperbole his post is laced with.

well you made the OT, I thought you were excited about it. but now you trashed it

and it couldn't possibly be the worst game you ever known
its just common star wars mega-fanboy snobbery, nothing new. When something doesnt go as they expect it to, it immediately sucks and they discredit it.

I agree that most of the score didn't seem new from what I watched (about 1.5 hours,) but it was definitely re-recorded. I know the sound and fidelity of Anvil, and this ain't it.

I figure the Newman scoring stage or the like.

Now I'm starting to get nervous about this game. If it's really only 4 hours, I'm not sure if I should buy it right now.

Geez, this game is going from "Getting the LE" to "Not sure if I'm buying" really fast.

Dont know, seemed better. If anything I think it was a bit floaty and overdone in the first game, they might have toned it down to be less crazy this time around?
I tried the demo and came to the same conclusion. The controls somehow feel nicer but the game looks less polished. Might just be the demo factor?

I enjoyed the first ones look and story, in it's own exaggerated and stylized fashion it worked quite well (with a few gameplay things that could've worked better). I really want the sequel to maintain that level of quality.

Ditto.
Does anyone know if Lucas Arts has announced any plans for post DLC episodes like they did with the first?
