Just a simple space ship on a regular starry night....the lighting is amazing in this game.

I've been playing the Akila missions and I ended up becoming a Ranger. The dialogue options are just too good. Like straight up 80's action movie lines. Too funny. By this point they have to be aware they hired a psychopath who watched too many Clint Eastwood movies.

lol....nice. I've been debating on which faction to start up first. That sounds right up my alley.

Alright 10 hours in, game is legit good when not traversing an empty ass planet. The way quests are doled out by just overhearing convo and chaining to become longer and longer is ace.
Even the menu driven space traversing is ok once you know you can activate scanner and pick a destination in a solar system. I only use the starmap now to pick a landing spot and plot multiple grav jumps.
The real bad of my 10 hours is traversing Earth, like damn shit planet is empty with low res textures everywhere and no land transport. I was out in 10 minutes.

I have 20 hours in and I think I've done maybe 3-4 main story quest and I'm good with that.
Yeah I’ve done a couple more and no plan to rush it. I’m doing this like when I play Skyrim. If I reach the end, cool, if I get stuck just exploring and doing other stuff, also cool. There is so much to see and so much to do.

As a divine intervention one of my kids is home and sick in bed today. And it’s nothing major so I might actually get some bonus play time today. Thanks God 😇

Nah, I don’t like it on mouse all that much either.. I think it’s just personal preference, and maybe it’s more situational. I do like how easy it is to switch views tho..
I bet it works great for shotgun users, or riffle users. Pistol sucks in third person with the constant tapping. I bet just holding down the fire trigger works well in third person.

Is there anything i can do about increasing carrying capacity besides upgrading skills? Its been very annoying so far.

Pack and suit mods. Or unique/legendary gear with perks, for example I’ve found a suit that decreases weight of all my weapons by 50%.

Edit: But I think a better solution is to invest in mods/gear that either reduce your O2 consumption or increase O2 amount. Then you can be over the weight limit as much as you want but still be mobile. That’s what I’m doing. Don’t waste your skill points in perks that increase weight limit.

For ships that are on the ground you just hop in, kill the crew and fly away (if your piloting skill is high enough to fly said class of the ship). Note that not all ships are open/accessible.

In space you first need to disable the ship without destroying it, you need a skill perk for that.

Does anything dynamic ever happen in the cities?

Like npcs fighting, npcs stealing and getting chased by police, etc.??

Because for now i haven't seen a single dynamic event with npcs involved, just everyone walking aimlessly and sometimes starting a discussion.

Where is my old woman burning a dog or thief getting fucked by guards? The cities feel so fake for now.

Buy the aiming perk at the extreme right of the menu, then wait for the lock on and fire at their engines with the precision aiming you unlocked, when they stop moving there is gonna be a prompt on screen to enter their ship.

Be aware, the pirates have contraband stuff on their ship, if you don't take care of it they are scan your ass and jail you when you enter any system.

I know I can’t walk down to my local shops without weaving through old women burning dogs and people getting fucked lol

Marshall Blake: What did you make of the men who tried to steal the farm?

Corpses is what I made of them.
:messenger_tears_of_joy: Ranger is good to be a big asshole.

For those who still despise fast travel, there really is an option:

Video game writer and content creator Alanah Pearce set out to prove that it’s possible to travel from planet to planet without fast travel, leading her to fly for 7 hours straight before she ultimately arrived on Pluto.

When there is so much to do, even 1-2 min artificial delay of space flight would just annoy me at this point (~30h playing) and of course, you can always start the grav engine manually to see some transition animation, if it makes it better.

Even in NMS (which I also like for different reasons), I sometimes wish I could just fast travel to the space station, when I'm in a far away planet with no teleporter. Often it is faster to summon the Space Anomaly and use its teleporter. Sure, it is fun flying around every now and then, but sometimes you just want to get things done...

So the jetpack is useless unless you max out the skill or what? I tried both the base one and the heavy one that just make you do a tall ass jump.

I have the perk already at level 2 and this fucking thing can't fly for more than 1,5 seconds? It feels completely useless for combat and barely useful for exploration, i feel like i wasted 2 skill points on this thing...

And since you always have to press triangle multiple times to have a bit of flying time you can't even use the right stick to aim, the game need a controller with back buttons to fly and shoot since the aerial time is so fucking low.

Even elex had a better feeling jetpack.

You need to mod it if you want to use it like that in high G environment. In low G, even unmoded with skill at level 1 will make you fly away.

So until i find mods for jetpacks or a low g planet this thing is gonna be useless?

Meh, there is a way to respec perks?

That only has 55% of chance of success, tried yesterday with the ship i stole, maybe you can improve that stat.

Onestly, i'm not gonna bother with contraband, it seems like a way to break the economy in the game even faster and the whole inventory management between ships is a nightmare already with only 2 ships.

I'm just gonna hunt pirates to get better ship since i'm not interested in building one.

I’m not sure if you can respec. It’s a Bethesda game, always invest in crafting perks!
I don't really like crafting (or modding) in any game, i like to find loot via exploration and combat (when possible)

I haven't looked into modding yet, do you need a perk to do even basic modding of weapons or jetpacks? Or is it like lockpicking that let you do basic stuff without a perk?

If you don’t like crafting then seriously don’t bother. You can loot guns and equipment with mods already installed, so just kill and and explore until you find what you need.

You can get very decent ships as a reward for certain mission lines, eg. the ranger mission line.

Mr Reasonable

Completely Unreasonable
It's quite interesting that the tone seems to be changing on this, as far as I can tell. I wondered if the sub 90% score, the NPC's not being photorealistic, the lack of being able to circumnavigate planets on foot and the game not being a fully featured spaceflight simulator was going to spell doom, but most of what I'm seeing online now is people saying they're having fun exploring or doing missions.

I started that one but they seems like a very boring faction with boring character, not sure if i wanna lock my balls with them.

Depends on gravity on planet. On low gravity moon you can basically fly through map (and if you jump from sprint you will keep speed for some time without wasting oxygen)
