Starfield is 1 year old

Made me sell my Series X. No not a troll post, I was very disappointed by it and didn't want to further support anyone from Bethesda or MS. It was the reason why I bought an Xbox in the first place. In place of me writing up lengthy paragraphs as to why, just look at the countless critique videos it got, my opinions are pretty similar.

Couldn't get into it. The npc's are dumber than a wet paper sack of cast iron football hammers and it's just traveling from place to place via the quest menu.

Not having DLSS at launch saved me 70 bucks, so I can't complain. AMD GPU's saving me money even as a NVdia owner.

What did you think of the "first new universe in 25 years" from Bethesda Game Studios??
I mean, Fallout 4 was already disappointing, so I had my expectations in check. But holy shit is Starfield underwhelming.

I have little confidence in TES6 as a result.

One of my worst purchases, not just last year, but in my entire steam library.

Should have stuck to the garbage windows store version on game pass instead of dropping $70 on this overhyped uninspiring garbage.

I'll get TESVI day one because it's TES, but never again touching anything Bethesda does new, with a ten foot pole.

I completely forgot this game existed until now.

One of the most boring and uninspired games I've ever seen. I don't know how Bethesda managed to make a Bethesday style Space RPG boring as fuck, but they managed it. Literally all they had to do was make their version of Mass Effect in the style of Fallout/TES and it would've been a certified banger. Have a diverse set of alien races to play as, explore galactic civilization, build a crew of different alien squadmates, join different factions, and save the galaxy from a big bad villain. Instead we got "NASA Punk" I guess? Nothing but humans, robots and beast like creatures, with the most drab aesthetics they could go for. Gray, White and Brown. And to make things worse, they stuck with the same formula and the same old ass engine that worked great back in 2006 - 2011, but has aged like milk.

This game honestly deserved to fail. I refuse to believe that the entire team that worked on this game thought it was going to be good. "Oh boy! I get to be a part of a Bethesda Sci-FI Space Exploration RPG! Awesome! I love Star Trek and Mass Effect!" and then fast forward a year later and your heart sinks when you realize the kind of game you're making.

Guess people never learn

I got around 60 hours out of it and enjoyed my time. It's a decent game. It has a lot of flaws though and the randomly generated planets without much content on them kill off the longevity that a game like Skyrim had. I am interested in seeing what they do with the DLC.

Poor man's Star Wars, who's the earth Vader in this "star field"?
Not at all actually. More like a rich man's Mass Effect to some degree. When considering the resource harvesting from the planets, except you can actually build bases on all of them.

I understand people's disdain for the amount of loading. But, it's honestly a pretty great game if you have the time to play it.

I liked Skyrim and Fallout 4 a lot more, Starfield kind of lacks that special something which other Bethesda games have had, may it be handcrafted content/exploration, can't point my finger on what exactly, but it's definitely missing in Starfield. That said, I hope they improve it further with upcoming expansions.

I got into a mood to get myself lost in a space exploration game a few days ago. I downloaded and installed Starfield again but just couldn't bring myself to actually start it. Didn't even bother informing myself about the improvements or looking for mods as the garbage tier writing, the dull characters and the boring world can't be fixed without a huge rework.
Looked into Star Citizen next and watched a recent lets play of some guy and he couldn't play for 15 minutes without some bug.
Decided to try out No man's sky and holy shit....that game is fantastic. Not a big fan of the artstyle, which i the main reason why I didn't try it earlier but just playing for about 15 hours everyhing feels so much better than my 40 hours with Starfield at launch. The game doesn't really have much of a story or characters so far but that's fine. Better not focus on it at all than doing such a shitty job in that regard like Bethesda did with their game. The exploration part so far is miles better than Starfield.

Struggled to get into it to be honest, I love sci fi/space stuff, this game just didn't hit for me.

Admittedly I'm not much of a Bethesda fan either but was hoping this might of swayed that opinion a bit. Nope.

In a way it kind of summed up my Xbox experience since the One days, another disappointment.

Great game for me. The setting is just right up my alley.

Folk complain you jump to objectives via menus, but you don't need to do that if you truly want to immerse yourself. You can pretty much do it all from your ship hud.

So many great locations and interesting quests. Plus zero-g gunfights on space stations/ships never get old.

Get it released on PS I say - it will win lots of fans.

Gave up on it when I played it at launch. Shouldn't have bought the deluxe upgrade.

I will wait one more year and give it a try then. Imagine launching without city maps lmao.

Not to any degree, come on now. Mass Effect is a critically acclaimed and award winning trilogy. It's an iconic series that people to this day still talk about. Starfield is a divisive game that people forgot about a month after it came out.

Dang, a year already? Such a bland game in so many ways and the worst ending for a Bethesda game. Knowing the ending, I really do not care to even play it again. I was hoping mods would fix it, but there is little interest in the modding community to even touch it. Still fucking waiting on the DLC I paid for. For sure, I will not be buying Bethesda games ever again until well past release for a steep discount, if at all.
