Can we stop trying to justify new streaming services based on one show?
New miniseries coming to Stargate Command - a new streaming service for all things Stargate
Yeah, they kinda wrote themselves into a corner in terms of the state of the universe by the end of SG-1, with Earth basically being the next big power. Universe was semi-successful in terms of shaking up the status quo, but that's not going to be revisited anytime soon.Doesn't sounds like the worst idea. They've caught themselves in a catch 22. They can't reboot the franchise without losing a lot of the fanbase, but universe also poisoned the well for a lot of people too, so they can't set anything after it.
Still, the premise isn't terrible and I will likely subscribe for one month to watch it once.

They kinda did the next big bad thing with the Ori, as much as I hate to say it, I feel like the universe has already been pretty well explored, with the exception of the SGU stuff.
If I was MGM, I'd have probably just rebooted the franchise, there'd be a lot of lost goodwill with fans, but at least that'd allow them to do new things with it.
I'm sure that we'll see plenty of retcons in the new series, there's no way we won't see some Gate exploring. And also, I'm sure the series won't be set entirely in 1928, I can't imagine a Stargate series with a child actor as the protagonist. I bet it will jump forward to the 40s, and we'll see them experimenting with the Stargate, for the war effort and whatnot.
they could always go back to atlantis and give it a proper ending...
I mean, in the last episode you got atlantis and a wraith on earth, there's more than enough potential for a fresh start
like make it 10 years later, atlantis still on earth, they recieve some sort of emergency distress signla from the pegasus galaxy, because the wraith or whoever is preparing an all-out attack/or spread like wild-fire after atlantis returned. be creative... atlantis left so many loose threads, there is more than enough to go back too... you also got the "evil Asgard" that appeared like only once too
I think a better way to go would to have a Stargate Command show, that basically would wrap up whatever leftover arcs from the past 3 shows, I'm sure they'd have to rebuild the SGC set, which would be a nice bit of nostalgia.they could always go back to atlantis and give it a proper ending...

As I said in the other thread, Monkey's Paw.
Indeed.

If they wanted to prequel they could have focused on Bra'Tac, on the human revolt, creation of the Tok'ra or literally anything else.
I honestly do think that this is them testing the waters to see if Stargate is ready to come back in full force to tvUgh a web-series. I remember I couldn't care less about Sanctuary when it was still in the form of webisodes. I do hope that it's successful and it transforms to a proper 45-minute show and/or other projects.
Just as services like Netflix and amazon prime have popularised real, long form content com8ng to digital platforms - and being produced originally for those platforms...MGM decides to launch a subscription service with webisodes?
Not sure where they'll be hosting it - do they know geocities has shut down?
Here's a better idea:
Ba'al: The Clone Wars
Ba'al fighting himself for dominance all over the Stargate universe. The last Ba'al standing wins. Sort of like Highlander but with symbiotes.
Between this and Star Trek Discovery can the prequels just fuck off? I want to see what's happening further on, not a backstory.
I guess it's something though.![]()
Ernest goes through the gate some 20-25 years after this is suppose to be taking place. Political wrangling, probably. 10 minutes isnt going to fill itself, but without rewriting Stargate history to do it, that gate isnt opening. So i guess we'll see Earnests accident through the gate and lots of political wrangling to get the programme off the ground
I'm not sure how to feel about this, but i'll take what i can get since this is obviously to gauge interest
I would have liked a 42 minute, 22 Episode run based solely on The Furlings
