Have very fond memories of SG1. Not sure about the other sequels/spin-offs. I tried to like Star Trek but never really got into them. I liked the Chris Pine Star Trek movie though.

I love Stargate and I never found Star Trek interesting despite trying to watch different series. I wish Stargate returned with a light, "wormhole travel of the week" formula, I wasn't a fan of trying more serious themes in Universe.

The Stargate movie is absolutely incredible and one of the most memorable movies I have ever watched but the TV show is just so mediocre. There are some ok episodes but not even once did I turn on the TV to watch it, if it was on before/after something I wanted to watch I kept it on but that's it.

But just when SGU got interesting they canned it.

I liked the way stargate presented itself. a curious group of underdogs that go out explore in worlds full of extreme danger with superior beings pretty much everywhere.

I always liked stuff like this the subtle humor

Can't find the picture, but another one that i always laugh at when i hear it. Oke sg1 ( earth explorerrs ), we got 10 ships incoming u guys send your ships and we should be fine to attack

Everybody looks at eachother? ships? yea about that. we don't have those type of ships haha.

It was good story telling, with great actors and interesting worlds to visit and loads of actual problems that u can relate towards such as corrupt goverments trying to take hold of the star gate project with all kinds of inveted bullshit and other country's pressuring etc. U really saw the actual world dynamics in the series well.

Star trek is kinda the opposite of this, where those people in those ships are pretty much the top of the food chain and try to lecture 3rd world country's and aggressive nations with warfare and lead them. The whole seires is based on us vs russia concept in space basically.

Atlantis kinda started to lose this ideology by again being the superior beings in the galaxy with a russia type enemy and it become more of a star trek solution but just with a worse cast and a story that dragged on forever season after season with average cast to boot and enemy's.

I would say stargate series is probably the best scifi we have had. movie wise its star trek for sure as the movies or whatever they called htem where nothing more then just a few episodes tagged together. ( after the main movie ).

I really liked sliders. its basically a simpler stargate. the setup was interesting and the idea behind it was also really well worked out. the cast also was solid in it ( start, cast refresh mid of the series was only half decent. the girl was fine the other guy looked like a bootleg version of the main character that simple had no reason to be there ).

The major issue the series had is that the concept simple is limited on scope what u can do with it, u run out of story's sooner rather then later as alternative relaties can only go so far really stargate didn't had this.. the dynamic as everybody travels with each other into a strange world is also very limited on what u can do between the actors etc. Which basically resulted in the series being pretty fucking horrible at the end of the seasons to the point u just can't wait for it to end as it gets that bad. the overlapping store being butchered with actors just leaving without wrapping there story line up and actors simple not having there own identity which startrek/stargate casts have was a real issue.

It is what it is, and i liked it alot in the mornings before i went to school when those episodes would always run. But they are not on the same level as stargate let alone startrek tho..

DS9, TNG, then maybe Stargate.

But that is because there's only two options. Farscape and The Expanse are very high on my best scifi series ever list. And 12 Monkeys was brilliant.

Babylon 5 is just ok. Galactica was good for the first two seasons.

So short answer: Star Trek.

Been a Trekkie most of my life, but I like sci-fi in general.

I saw episodes of Stargate SG-1 on and off growing up, but never made it a priority. I recently tried giving it another chance, but after a few episodes it really wasn't hooking me. It seems like more of action show than idea show. Also, the 1 or 2 worlds visited weren't that interesting. I only made it 5-6 episodes in though, so maybe it got better and become more "heady".

My favorite episode of TNG is Who Watches the Watchers, so that kinds tells you the type of sci-fi that appeal to me.

Forcing me to pick one over the other is difficult. I have to go with Star Trek TNG specifically. While I like all the other Star Trek's except for Discovery, SG1 beats all the other Star Treks. He is my order.

Star Trek TNG
Stargate SG1
Star Trek
Stargate Atlantis
Star Trek DS9
Star Trek Voyager
Stargate Universe
Star Trek Enterprise

The 1990's Outer Limits beats them all.

That's a tough question. While both are sci fi they are quite different in their approach. Star Trek usually tries to explore ideas, while Star Gate is more a tale of adventure, although both do dip into the other's specialty. Both are great in there own rights, but are difficult to compare for that reason. I think if I were to compare their peaks, I'd give it to ST, but a more average comparison I think I'd give to SG. If I were to limit it to one series as a whole, I'd go with DS9 as the champ, but SG I think with both SG1 and Atlantis isn't far behind.

Never saw Stargate TV, except for the awful movie.

I can only speak for ST. Aside from the new movies lately, Wrath of Khan with the Fantasy Island guy, and just by coincidence seeing episodes with Q when my brother watched SNG in the 90s, I hate the rest of ST. Both Wrath of Khan movies (new and old) and Q episodes are great. The recent movies are decent. A lot more grounded and gritty where most ST stuff is cornball nerd jokes.

It's so sterile, robotic acting like every person in the year 2400 has a pickle up their ass, and 99% of things have a magic answer........ holodeck creates whatever they want, sick bay cures everything, that tricorder gadget can has a 100 uses, every alien speaks english, every alien looks human-ish. And I find nothing funny about Data.

Star Wars is cheesy family fun, but if I had to choose, I'd choose SW. Even with it's goofy Ewoks and CP3O jokes. It's got more action, boots to the ground adventuring where it's still kind of grounded as rebels are dirty on dusty planets, there's rusty robots, aliens look and speak different languages etc.... It seems more crazy like what space travel and aliens are supposed to be.

Star Trek is a bunch of dry cleaned office workers on a starship travelling through space and meeting aliens 100 light years away that look and act human too but have a brown horn on their head. And this new crazy alien they've never met also speaks english. And proper english too like it got schooled in London.

Triumvirate of good scifi shows with 3+ seasons. Farscape, DS9, and Babylon 5. Farscape being in a class of its own.

Stargate is an IP that is such a great premise imo you need a great director and epic film like a Dune. It was still a great Roland Emmerich film. The series I never took to so Star Trek.

Discovery is good in my opinion, my main gripe is its too Burnham specific and you dont feel for the bridge crew all that much cause they rarely have any episodes centered around them.

Star Trek, but I haven't seen as much of Stargate. I have a couple seasons of Atlantis that I've never opened.

Farscape was pretty good too.

IMO it is only Star Trek in name.

I can understand that..., however, it and Picard are a nice change of pace. Ive always though ST was too sterile, e.g. officers fast walking during a red alert... run damnit, killing of random ensigns or crewman and the cheesy hand to hand combat....i would like Discovery to center around all the crew much more and stop having Burnham save the entire galaxy all the time.
