Starlink satellite internet beta results

Germany is getting it as well now, which is good for them considering their underdeveloped internet infrastructure. It's quite literally surrounded by nations offering gigabit speeds across their countries while especially lagging behind in mobile outside a couple of large cities.
Germany is and has been pants-on-head retarded about this. The provider here in germany gives me 10gig for 30€ and that is spotty as fuck. I travel a lot by train so I'm in the midsts of it for surefire potent LTE. But no, it's shitty, in, and there is no hyperbole here, every major city - even around train stations. Switching providers come next January but mang, this fuckery is insane.
My boss sued them for not delivering and they had to pay a fuckton of money, in german court terms.

The same provider acting in Italy gives me 50gig for 14,99€ when in Italy and still _better_ 5,5gig connectivity due to roaming agreements outside the country. The mobile internet in Italy is so far ahead and it's not even the best.

38ms might be a little high for online gaming.

Then again, will it allow me to shoot a space laser onto my opponent's house if I lose?

Meh... These are almost ideal conditions. I want to see what happens when the network comes under heavier load. What happens during bad weather etc. These are microwaves afterall.

I remember when I had Direcway/HughesNet and the pings were like 700 - 1000+ ms and thinking it was a physical limitation of having to travel all the way to a satellite and back.

38ms is way better than I expected. If they can get to 15ms to 30ms I might consider switching if the price and bandwidth limitations aren't as absurd as current satellite providers.

The Starlink/Tesla satellites are in low orbit so significantly closer to Earth. There are overhead optimizations for sure though.

Oh yeah, I forget about that. Even without rains mine would get knocked out depending on how thick the storm clouds are. It's kinda ironic since bad weather outside is when you'd want to have Internet. Still, this is a nice option for those who have no other choice.
