Michael Wilford, CEO and co-founder of Twisted Pixel, has departed the studio. He made the announcement on Twitter today, sharing that he will focus on fatherhood a while then find new adventures.
Twisted Pixel was founded in 2006, and opted to give up its independence in 2011. The studio was purchased by Microsoft and developed the Kinect-powered The Gunstringer and Xbox One launch title LocoCycle.
The developers other credits include The Maw, Plosion Man, Comic Jumper, and Ms. Splosion Man. In September 2015, Twisted Pixel separated from Microsoft, becoming independent once more.
While the studio has been quiet, Wilford suggests that news is coming. My @twisted_pixel family will have awesomeness to share soon, so stay tuned, he writes. Much love and excitement for whats to come!
Our Take
Twisted Pixels separation from Microsoft came as a surprise, and it wasnt quite clear what the impetus was. Its been more than two years since LocoCycle was announced, and its unclear what the team is working on. The studios earlier games were quite good, and we hope for a return to form with whatever is next.
