SLI system requirement confirmed!
I thought these were the Assassin's Creed 4 requirements
To be fair I've only put 30 mins in but it's hardly touching 60% gpu usages while it's maxed out core0 and barely touched core1 let alone the other 2 and it's a juddering in built up and high geometry areas. Might push my overclocks up a bit to see it that sorts it but it the case of another game, same old Ubi.

these two have interrupted many a steam gaming session over the years.

I love them anyway.

Have hopes it will be based on the books rather than the TV show since Walking Dead was like that.

Not interested otherwise.

The TV show does a pretty good job on keeping true to the books. As always in media based off of books, they have to make cuts and some changes in the interest of time.

I also read a great article by Stephen King discussing the differences between books and shows/movies, some of the changes are done to preserve the interest of people who have already gone through the books. If the majority of your audience already knows the ending, then they have a hard time finding interest again.

This worked well for The Watchmen movie. I didn't mind the ending change at all.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
jshackles, the link you provided to the spreadsheet doesn't seem to work.

I'm confused, is there an Amazon sale going on?

Yeah there is one going on but they must have pulled that spreadsheet. Basically about 2,000 sales on Amazon over the next two weeks. Only about 400 of them are Steam, though.

Walking Dead is based on the books the same way the tv show is in that they're both from the same universe. I'm sure Game of Thrones will be the same.

There's also the fact that different mediums have different strengths. The "changing things to preserve interest" part is pretty evident in The Walking Dead; besides new characters, the TV plot has sidestepped some of the major beats (
like revealing Rick is a werewolf
) and pretty much gone its own way.

I do have to say that I'm kind of bummed in the direction that Telltale is heading in. I really enjoyed The Walking Dead, and the first episode of The Wolf Among Us seems interesting enough, but as someone who loved them for the games they used to make, it's just kind of sad to see them fully embrace this framework, and leave the old stuff behind. I completely understand why they're doing it, and again, I enjoy the games that have come from it, but it's still kind of a bummer. I'm probably in the minority, having played everything they put out before The Walking Dead, but I just hope that they some day return to the stuff that made me like them in the first place.

Also here's a picture of my cat Sadie, sitting on my lap, watching me play Skyrim:

I'm guessing most of you have this already, but maybe someone doesn't!

AC4 is like one of the longest lines of crack I have snorted.

This being my first Assassin's Creed game it's pretty good. I had to get it because of the pirate theme and because I got a Steam copy for $32 in the B/S/T thread.

It runs good with my 680 and i5-2500, a few hiccups but nothing horrible. The free-running can be somewhat rough and glitchy at times but again it's nothing terrible and as far as I can tell the out of Animus sections are optional after the first encounter it seems.

Dome is just a bad show.

I can see the appeal of GoT but I just don't get why I would watch it if I read the books. It isn't like a movie where it's over in two hours, watching 40 hours or whatever it is by now of a worse version of the story where I already know what happens just doesn't sound like anything I want to do. The game will inevitably offer a more interesting story to people that read the books because of Telltales story choices and how it will most likely be able to vary quite a bit from the source.

May as well post my silly cat:

Sooooooo cute.

Have you purchased games off of Slitherine before? I'm just curious as to how it works with them, like is it a one time download or do I have a persistent account with them and can download the game again at any time in the future.

The terms and conditions on their site are kind of vague, beyond stating there's no drm and no returns, that sales are final. Might be worth the extra 15$ just to have a physical copy, also it's been forever since I bought physical media and they give you a DD copy right away.

You create an account that will keep a record of your serials and allow you to re-download the updates and installers at any time. You obviously also get the serial and link in the confirmation email (the transactions are handled through PLIMUS). In my opinion it is NOT worth getting a physical copy as it is just a basic disk in a case with a PDF manual. It is just as easy to back up the installers yourself, either to disk or online (mine are on Dropbox).

You enter the serial number for the game during installation or when updating, but it does NOT require a connection: everything is offline and there is no other DRM. However, you can check for updates and download them if you wish via the game's launcher.

EDIT: Their Christmas / New Year sale is about to start, so if you ARE considering buying anything from them I would recommend waiting a couple of days to see if any of the discounts are to your liking. (Games released this year (e.g. Pandora) are apparently NOT going to be discounted).

11/27/2013 12/2/2013 Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Premium Edition  - 9.99
11/29/2013 12/2/2013 GRID 2  - 15.99

11/27/2013 12/2/2013 Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ - 4.99

Probably bite on some of those. Enslaved at least.

Where do I get Pac-Man CE for 4.99?

Oh wait, I can't read dates. The 27th. On Amazon?

I know the joke doesn't work properly since CPU optimization seems to be shit but at least I tried :(

Was there a list of all the daily deals? I'll probably bite on these I think. I know AC3 isn't considered that good, but I just can't bring myself to play AC4 without playing 3 first. I was a huge fan of the AC series, and one of those people who actually really enjoyed AC1.

Alright, thank you for the information. I'll probably buy Pandora sometime soon but not until after I've spent some quality time with EU IV and Xcom EW. Pandora: First Contact just looks too good to pass up on. That quill play-through geeked me out.

So I'm curious about Ashes Cricket...JaseC, have you played it yet?

I was also super-pumped to see the updated Last Express pop up. Picked that up right away.

Man, I can't believe I still had a CRT screen five years ago. I also can't believe it's been almost five years since that cat died. :(

Oh, I hadn't noticed quill had uploaded a Pandora video. I think I'd better go off and watch that...

I don't know if you're familiar with his channel, but Das24680 has also begun a Pandora "let's play". He's much drier than quill18 and lacks his personality, but his videos of strategy games are probably more comprehensive as he takes time to explain in detail underlying game mechanics and why he is making each decision.

Bought the Bioshock 3 pack just for Infinite since the full steam price here is like $80. Good deal for me but have a couple extra copies of Bioshock 1 + 2 now. Hope someone here gets use of them :)

My God, what are you feeding him? Tacos and chicken pot pies? It's as if you went so far as to try to create your very own Gabe Newell in the form of a cat. Is it wrong of me to want to rub both of their bellies?

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Interestingly, they both added these to the database.

I guess they plan on removing GFWL, but have them as seperate app ID's than the GFWL version?

Yes unless it's Call of Duty. If it's "Steamplay" on Steam, and you're getting a Steam code from Amazon, you're good to go.

CoD4 is SteamPlay. CoD2 is, too, although Amazon doesn't carry a DD version of it.

Edit: Oh, here it is, but Steam isn't mentioned (Newegg is selling Steam keys, though).

So I'm curious about Ashes Cricket...JaseC, have you played it yet?

I'm all about AssCreed for the foreseeable future -- after Black Flag there's Liberation HD in January.

Maybe play-through is a bit generous, quill's got an introduction video that's probably about the same length as Das24680's first Pandora playthough episode, which I am now subscribed to and watching.

I was thinking of replaying Bioshock 1 and now I can play the second one too at last. Thanks a million, Soule! :D
