When do PC games get their own big event to show off superior multiplatform games? It's like some of these companies hint to PC ports like MGSV, GTAV, and FFXV, but refuse to come right out and say it. I'm guessing it's because the expos and conventions they go to are console-centric and/or they are being asked not to steal the thunder away from the new consoles.

The PC doesn't need a big flashy event show. It is the unsung hero of the gaming industry.

Been busy with grad school, so I haven't been able to post very much. Anyway, here's a gift.

Would not be a bad idea for Valve to put something like this together.

They put on the International, so they are certainly capable of that kind of investment and organization required.

If they could time it correctly, they could get those announcements like Destiny, MGSV, FFXV, and GTAV. L4D3 playable on the show floor. Everyone's jaw would drop simultaneously.

GMG: The Sega Action Pack is quite a nice deal once you use the code: GMG20-8MUTY-M21VN works out to £6.40 or £1.60 per game:

- Alpha Protocol
- Condemned Criminal Origins
- Aliens vs Predator Requiem
- Binary Domain

*blush*

Thanks so much for posting this sir. I was just looking at the site and didn't see this particular deal so could easily have missed it completely if not for your earlier post alerting me to it. I had all four games on my Steam Wishlist but with the 20% off code [which I may easily have forgotten about] each game works out as being cheaper than even their historical low, according to the awesome Enhanced Steam. That's the sort of shopping I like! :D

Of course by buying these I have broken my tenuous promise to myself not to buy anymore games until I've culled my backlog somewhat but we'll just pretend that didn't happen!

Thanks again :).

However, I believe the international was pretty much free in the end: The International Compendium, for the tournament, costs 10 dollars. 2.50 dollars from those 10 dollars go to the prize pot. 7.50 is money in their pocket. I think the original prize pool was 1.6 million dollars. The final prize pool was 2.8 million dollars.

That means that 1.2 million dollars was made from 2.50 dollars from each compendium sold. That means they sold 480000 compendiums, which means they made 3.6 million dollars out of them. And they made DOTA 2 very popular during that week.

I don't think they would get anything that big from making a Steam-convention.

My heart flutters with the thought of this happening. I wonder what Valve would call thus expo?

You could easily make an argument that a Valve expo of that nature would generate far more income and awareness than even the Dota 2 International.

I realize that the latest International was one of the largest E-Sport tournaments of all time, but Dota 2 isn't quite as mainstream as the multiplatform games being shown off at a PC conference. And for that very reason, wouldn't reach as wide of an audience.

A Valve expo of that nature would reach the widest amount of people possible. It would be on every mainstream news site every day with constant articles, especially if they are dropping bombs like I suggested earlier. Where as the International would only reach the front page maybe once a day.

Couple this influx of consumer interest with a sale and pre-order pages for the announced games, and Valve would rake in millions in revenue. Not just a few million like you are suggesting.

I'm not saying the event costed only 3.2 million and that's all the money they made.

However, that is the biggest direct income source from the tournament. I just find it amazing that they gave one of the biggest payouts of a tournament (1.6 million dollars) and the "community pitch in" was more than enough to pay for it. Genius move.

I really don't see the point of a PC expo. People won't see the difference. Unless you put the console and PC versions side by side, but I guess that's frowned upon.

The International is a tad bit different than hosting an expo. I would say it might almost be an entirely new experience for them if they tried that. Not sure how much International experience would carry over other than the streaming and broadcasting of a steam conference.

Played through Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in one sitting yesterday (~3 hours) and I have to say it was pretty fantastic. The art style is great and the vistas inspire some awe. I don't know that I'd suggest such a short game for $15, but I feel it was well worth it.

Even I'll agree with this. I just wish they were a bit longer than 4 hours each time. I get it would it start getting old if it was 10+ but even 7-8 would be a lot better.

Black Ops 2 was around 7 hours long and the best one since MW1. Or at least a huge improvement over the terrible MW3.

MW3's campaign was pretty great. I beat it twice before that November was even over.

I wish Activision would do Blops and MW's with Occulus Rift support. Blops 3 better have it next year when the consumer editions are out.

7~8 hours? On veteran difficulty maybe.

Edit: but cod is not fun on veteran

No I meant I wish they were around 7-8 on normal difficulty. I do somewhat enjoy the hectic pace and batshit crazy events that happen in the campaigns but I can usually finish them well before dinner time on the same day they come out. It leaves a somewhat disappointing feeling.

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.
Sweet. Escape Goat 2 is coming to Steam. The first one was greenlit in the last batch,
Great news.

Though going to the MTB website, I found out the game was delayed in August and will not be releasing today.

It would be great to keep it within September, but that’s just an aspiration at this point, not a guarantee.
Kind of a bummer, but this does mean the preorder discount will be valid longer. Maybe it'll even launch on Steam and via the Humble Store on the same day since it's been approved now.

Viking is a massive turd. None of the gameplay elements are fun and they just repeat the exact same like 3 objectives over and over. The forced stealth is particularly terribad.

Speaking of games about wars starring dogs, I'm much more interested in Valiant Hearts.

Yeah, those Ubi announcements were fantastic. I'm day 1ing Valiant Hearts and that "J"RPG they are making since it pleases me to see Ubi continuing to experiment the way they did with Call of Juarez and Far Cry earlier this year.

The PC port of AssCreedLib was much appreciated as well.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
And with that, NDS officially joins Squeenix as the only publishers who bother to release their GOG games on Steam.

Dominions 3 is finally on steam. Wishlisted.

Also Wizardry 6-7-8 is a definite buy when it goes on sale. Always wanted to try that series out.
