Yeah, I dunno how many PC gamers are going to keep their hardware for 8 years.
I look at this image, and what I really read into it is that I can add +$1000 to that kind of mediocre mid-range rig and it would still be worth it.
Man I hate looking at those "look you could easily build a 700bucks computer and be awesome for the next 7 years" chart because I went over budget and ended up spending over 900bucks building mine. I hate my life.
I know that prices varies from region to region, I still can't wrap my head around how many people think that an average rig is much less than $1000. I mean, c'mon people, that can't be true, or my understanding of average is way off.
Keep same PC hardware for 8 years, buy 8 year old games for $5 each. EVEN CHEAPER!
I started from scratch 3 years ago and spent about $800. I'm still quite pleased with my performance.

The 1000 limited bundle isn't going to be worth buying for most people who only care about games, judging my Humble store's recent behavior. Best case scenario is that you get a bunch of new indie games that are currently high priced but will be heavily discounted in a month or two.
Lol fuck that, I spend 300-400$ minimum on hardware a year. I spent like 600$ last year on a couple small upgrades.

I think I'm blind, but I don't see the [the depotcache folder].
Edit: Okay, now I see it. Do I move it all?
Just beat Aliens: Colonial Marines. Jeez, rip off Halo harder why don't you.
Crap. It didn't work.
Yeah, I can't believe how they even copied the marine uniforms from Halo and the aliens are basically the Flood. Gearbox will always just be riding on Bungie's coattails.

These 'you could be x for y cost compared to z' comparisons never factor in any real world scenarios.
At the start of last gen I put together a pc at a cost of £800 and to service it and keep it current spent £140 on a psu and £200 on a new graphics card as well as about £80 on hard drives. So say £1,200 in total.
Where as I've gone through 3 PS3's at a cost of £440, £350 and £250 a piece. So that's £1,040 on hardware.
Now this isn't a pc of a similar spec to a PS3 but as much as my wallet could afford at the time. Sure I've had components fail but they generally have much greater or lifetime warranties and are only an RMA away from getting replaced.
All in all it's two completely different markets.
Nabs linked this DayZ vid to me last night, but it has to be posted here to. It's so damn creepy.
Someone even says it in the Steam chat: this is some Dexter shit.
I'd worry about it only if you care about temp bullshit features anyways i.e. Dead Space and Bioshock multiplayer components. What is really pissing me off about modern consoles is that I think they are going to be a dead end for game lifespan.
Remember that you get a lot of games with PS+, which makes the chart misleading.
8 years worth of PS+ games is a lot of games.
Probably unlikely but I'd love to see XCom Enemy Unknown in a bundle
My friend and I are almost done with Leon's campaign in RE6, which one should we start next?
I've had the same PS3 since 2009Reading the 'how many consoles did you go through this gen' thread a couple months ago was insane.
People would rebuy console 3-5 times consistently.

I tried to beat it, but I was constantly dying to the humans, it was as if armor and health didn't matter.Just beat Aliens: Colonial Marines.
looks nice! It's a musou game of sorts, no?

According to Steam I've spent $3.42 per game I own and that's with over 800 games.
So that chart is a little misleading... since people want to bring PS+ into the equation.

A facet I was not taking into account for sure. I haven't had a TV for almost ten years now so consoles are pretty much out-of-sight-out-of-mind for me. I forgot about their failure rates, or I've chosen to ignore that part of my brain after losing a 360 to red lighting and switching to PC.People go through like 2-3 consoles during a lifespan, what is going to make thier last PS3 magically last another 10 years for when they want to play Uncharted 2 in 2024?
