The first 20mins will be a horror game and then it'll suddenly transmogrify into an Alien remake written/directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Saoirse Ronan as Ripley.

Edit: I hope Far Cry: Wild Blahblah is a separate app.

Me too, Far Cry 2 looks interesting. Really hit or miss with people, but those who loved it really enjoyed it.

Madballs in... Babo: Invasion is a fun game, but why is there a beta update in the registry? Who and why?

Saoirse in a role similar to ripley's in the first alien movie would be alright by me.
As for the game so glad to see Alien being the focus rather than Aliens. Yeah Aliens influenced gaming a ton but damn I can't wait to go to the horror of the first. Which is still the best film. I'll be grabbing it on PC and will probably need to upgrade my 660 card.

I know this may be a broad question but given the recent glut of these games can anyone give some impressions and key differentiators between: DayZ, 7 Days to Die, Rust and Nether?

They all seem very similar, but I am intrigued by 7 Days to Die particularly cos I heard from some Steam forum chatter (whatever it may be worth) that it's better than DayZ but just doesn't have the same cache.

Ironic that the most expensive games on Steam now are the unfinished ones =/

Anyone?

Due to Ubi using Uplay as a middle-man launcher it's certainly a distinct possibility. Far Cry 2 I prefer to 3 -- it has its flaws (I haven't played the game since 2008 but I recall being displeased with the respawning checkpoints and the overzealousness of the guards as well as the frequency of the malaria mechanic) but I loved how the game's more peripheral elements were implemented -- I'm likely forgetting a few things, but your character has a map that, obviously, acts as the map as well as a tracker to aid in finding collectables (neither of which take you out of the game) and you purchase weapons by interacting with a computer.

I was thinking the same.

I went past Hello Games' neck of the woods on the way back from Christmas hi-jinx and the whole area was under about 2 foot of water. Even from the motorway every field as far as the eye could see was flooded.

So I'm sure a sale or promotion of some sorts, even if its just announcing the new Mac and Linux versions are out would help boost morale.

For every one immersive thing they did they had like 3 super irritatingly shit design decisions that ruined it.

sorry getting terribly off topic, its just fun to talk lol. I apologize

 That's making me want to give both cheeks a good squish with dual wielding hand action! Which is pretty good going since I am a homosexual :/. Hm, I'm familiar with men in their middle years suddenly realising they are homosexual but not so much that they are heterosexual. I think I'll just pretend these urges didn't happen. Yes, that's best.

I would warn you about the off topic chat especially since you're not yet a full member and I don't want to see you permed :( but lol ur in da steem thred were anything goes lol

Oh and speaking of perms, that is quite some afro!

I think a lot of people would be glad of that, I know I would :).

Don't make him post that pic I absolutely hate with her covered in blood.

Capcom said another Franchise Revival is set for 2014. At this point I expect whatever it is will be on PC. The new strider game is coming to PC right?

Didn't knew that Alien: Isolation was already on Steam, must have missed this earlier (no price, only 5 screenshots). I really hope this game to be good.

I don't recall being frustrated by much outside of the checkpoints and how often malaria struck. I suppose the weapon degradation may have been a little too unforgiving but again I haven't played the game since late 2008 so my memory is rather foggy. I ought to play through it again now that I have a system that can run it at maximum settings quite easily.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll move it up in my playing schedule :)
Does this game have any ties to Avernum series on gog, or just in a name?

Oh, of course it does. It's actually a remake of the first game in that series (which, in turn, is a remake of another game, but that's a long story). Some other Avernum games, 4-5-6 are also on Steam, but I haven't played them yet personally. The other Spiderweb games are recommended as well. You can get Geneforge for a crazy original setting or Avadon: The Black Fortress for some modern polish.

Series seems a bit confusing with a bunch of remakes - do we play this one first?

Yep, as evident from above.

Well i'm sure it'll be better than A:CM. I'm just glad that they're going for the feel of the original movie. It's been to long since Aliens were actually scary and not just cannon fodder.

I just hope its a horror survival game with some hard difficulty. and not some mindless action game. It does look great from those screens.

GMT-3 sounds totally in the middle of the ocean! :D
Yeah, this country has a wrong time zone, from what I understand.

Speaking about ocean, apparently it's raining pretty hard right now (or at least it was earlier), but I'm stuck here in the office, so I have no chance of getting wet. And I'm not near a window either. What a waste!

(sorry for the LiveJournal kind of post)

You are both correct and your thoughts are on the right patch. I hope the very same since I think that the latest games did not captured the Aliens Universe from the very first Alien movies. And that's is truly a shame.
