Man, if more of you had RACE or possibly GTR2 we could set up a racing event on a weekend and do the whole shebang. Qualifying, etc.

There seems to be a tiny chance that the preloads for the rest of the Orange Box is being uploaded. Content servers usually take a dip when something is being uploaded to them, so it's either Valve games or some other publisher's games. It was about 1 month before the release that the preload for Episode 1 started so it could be.

Kinda OT, but recently Steam doesn't work for me at all. When it starts, it would attempt to update and gets stuck at around 36% and crashes. I've tried reinstalling, clearing out registry, etc. and it still crashes at the update. Never happened to me before so I have no idea WTF is wrong. Anyone here have any ideas?

Fix backups always having English targeted binaries instead of copying the per-language files over the top of the English when in a non-English Steam client
Fix the games page button show/hide logic to account for the tools tab properly and to show the properties/launch buttons on that tab again
Make the Receive Volume slider actually save its value in-between Steam restarts, and make it now default to .5 instead of 1.0
Fixed voice-chat being quiet when using certain microphones
Changed name collision handling to print "Name (instance)". Like "Taylor (1)"
Fixed 'Games' items in the systray context menu only opening the main dialog, now also opens the 'My Games' tab
Fixed modifications to non-Steam games (via the properties dialog) not being saved if steam was exited via windows shutdown

Alright this it pretty OT, but I have no basis of where to ask for information like this and I really want to get back into HL2/Mods/Steam with the upcoming TF2 release imminent.

I want a widescreen LCD as I no longer have room for the 19" behemoth CRT I had before. Do any of you have 20" monitors that will scale down to 1440x900 or 1280x800 with DVI input? I have troubleshooted to hell and back with my current setup and have come to the conclusion to Craigslist the current monitor and order a new one (that hopefully one of you can recommend, I'm look at 20" Dells).

Aw, and I was considering showing up for the first time ever because it was The Specialists! Even though I have a deep hatred for the game! The TS community sucks, and so does the friend I play it with (such a prick)! But it's fun to play with nice people.
Plus I already have it downloaded and installed, unlike the myriad of other games and mods you guys play. o:

Well, I guess the HL1 experiment didn't go too well. And I was hoping for some Ricochet.

...is it possible at all to choose WHERE you want Steam to save your games (like demo versions)? Because right now Steam is filling up the partition on which I install all my programs, which is BAD because I have a much bigger partition specifically for games.

Ah. Well, I've been toying with the sensitivity settings and found something somewhat decent for the Pro servers. It's for the Seat car, though. The BMW can go fuck itself.

EDIT: Finally getting into it. Once you tune the controls, the Seat car works great. It's not as fast as the BMW, but it's front wheel drive and easier to control (for me anyway). Just finished a really close race. I'm learning to control the car's momentum a lot better now.
