Find a server with a proper gun setup, starting with the crap weapons is the worst ideas I've seen in a long time.
 
I guess we'll decide when it's time. Voting here would just spam the thread. I say we gather in the chatroom and then do a little vote. 1. Standard CS:S. 2. Zombie Mod. 3. Gun Game.
 
I miss out on these gaf game nights but lately I been into a lot of surf maps, since I hardly play them its a nice change.

BTW gungame is awesome, so is zmod, all great!

Where can one acquire these two mods?
 
FYI, I picked up Gunman Chronicles today at a store. The Steam CD Key still is valid, so if you want Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat and Half-Life, etc. (Not source), PM me. Say $12.

There is fighting. He was just playing solo for the video. There's a lot of depth to it too. There's usually a "jail" area if you screw up the surf, and your teammates can free you from it, or your enemies can kill you in it. Every map offers something different and most of them are really a blast. However, it DOES take some getting used to, so practice for a few rounds first. :)

1st server was poor (Ping)

2nd server was a gun game (My fault). People weren't particular fond of it.

Next week I'll have a server in line BEFORE 9PM. If the server is good, we can try and use it every week (Yes, even if it is not ours). With so many people, things can fall into chaos pretty quickly (Switching servers)

We need to have a second round because certain people including myself won't be at home friday evening all the time. ;)
 
Wow, that sucks. Apparently the "join game of somebody in group but not in chat or friends list" feature is broken.

Yep, I leave games now and it sticks with a brand new "Giganticus is now playing ." despite not being in a game at all. :(

I think it was because you can rename the shortcut to whatever you want, so you had people like

"Player in Game: Unreal Loli Rape Sim 2004"

I can still do that. But when I leave the chat, it sticks in a blank name.
Also, it doesn't work in Bioshock.
 
Ugh, i'm so frustrated. I was running out of room on my c drive and wanted to relocate my steam folder to another drive that had plenty of room. I've followed all the directions exactly to do this, completely uninstalling the steam folder. When i go to reinstall it says: "Another version of this product is already installed. installation of this version cannot continue. to configure or remove the existing version of this product, use add/remove programs on the control panel."

In the add/remove list there is still the steam file even though it is gone, but there is no option to remove it. Grr..

I've tried a heap of stuff and it still comes up with that message. Anyone had this issue, or anyone with some ideas that could help?
 
If you guys are still deciding on stuff to play, then I'd like to pitch that we play The Specialists, which just saw its final release in June.

For those that don't know, The Specialists is a Half-Life 1 mod that lets you act out hi-octane action films like The Matrix/Hard-Boiled etc. It has a crapton of weapons (Here's a list of all the weapons) plus modifications like scopes, laser-sights, etc. You also have some kung-fu combat as well as a katana. It also features a pretty cool mobility system that lets you do dives, backflips, and rolls. I enjoy the mod a lot but the guys in the public servers are just too damn good. But shooting around and doing backflips with fellow GAF people would be much more interesting.

So, which UT2K4 mod are we trying next? We talked about preparing people for mods earlier so we don't have a last minute clusterfuck.

This is a good question. I'm proooooooooobably gonna cut UT down to one night and then have a HL2 mod night on Tuesday and just have UT on Thursday. I'm curious as to whether we should keep DOD on, since no one seems to play it much. And possibly add something to Wednesday. I dunno.

I see Monday is now HL2 Mod Night and we've got Dystopia lined up. I don't have a problem with that, but I don't think we should completely shutout HL1. Maybe we could make it HL/HL2 Mod Night, or have another night for HL1 mods. I'd like to maybe get some Ricochet going, or some Action Half-Life or The Specialists, and we could throw DoD 1.3 and CS 1.6 into the pot as well.

Also, I was checking out this HL mod called Master Sword Continued which is kind of a co-op multiplayer Action/RPG. I haven't played it yet, but I sounds kinda cool.
 
By the way, are we going to host our own server or just fill up an existing one? Dystopia doesn't have that many servers and the majority of the empty ones have high ping (at least on my end)

Unless someone has a server to loan to the cause, we're gonna have to crash an empty one. Generally speaking, though, there's always quite a few empty ones on my end with good ping. We'll have to see what it's like later.
 
I can join in if my download goes faster. I've never played Dystopia before so on a scale of Counter-Strike to Natural Selection, how hard is this mod to learn?

Eh...There's a tutorial that goes over just about everything you need to know EXCEPT decking, which you'll sorta have to play a few games as a decker to "get."

And just an FYI for everybody so that there are no surprises, you need to have the Source SDK Base installed to run Dystopia, so you might want to make sure you've got that installed ahead of time. It starts downloading automatically when you run Dystopia the first time.

Alright it looks like it is going to take me a hour and a half, so hopefully I can get in some play time before 8PM.
