As a person who works in embedded software but not games, I am VERY impressed with that solution. It is both devious in how it subverts what those are notionally used for and in that it is a failproof solution to what seems like very hard problems. Catching weird memory problems and one-off crashes are things that keep me awake a night. If I could implement a solution like this I absolutely would. It is amazingly ingenious for a solution.

I am both scared and impressed of that solution.
It's a two sided blade. What if your game actually has a somewhat common bug, firing one of those routines, that slipped the dev team? Now it seems like your game is just insane and throws "secret level" selects during key game moments, making it unplayable. Without patching, this would never be fixed. So circumventing it like this is, cheap, in that you breeze through certification, but you are also not taking advantage of its QA.

Considering how cheap you can find it that's not a good price for any savvy user. Hell just days ago some store here in Germany was selling it for 8€.

Well, with the base cut, discounts could help it drop. Or if it showed up in a Humble Monthly, that would be even cooler.

(I need this game in my life, if the SteamGAF hype is to be believed.)

It's like 20 bucks on CDkeys if that's not too much for you.

Loving Golf Story on Switch. One could roughly describe it as „like Earthbound with golf“.

Hope y’all gonna buy it if/when it makes its way to Steam.

I'm a bit of the opposite of Switch owners in that I'm less about wanting everything ported to Switch and more about only getting things on Switch when they're genuinely exclusive to that platform. On that end I'm left pausing as to whether or not to pull the trigger on Golf Story. Game looks great, but if it has a chance of coming to PC I'd rather grab it here.

Nice. I've not attempted to get a perfect score on all bosses and probably never will (although I did manage on a couple of them), but I'm replaying the game on Expert and boy, even the bosses on the first island have been a pain in bottom. What I personally seem to have the most difficulties with are the shump levels. Right now I'm halfway done with the second island, and I know the third one is gonna drive me up the wall.

I believe that VX Ace is the newer one of the two. Don't know why the newer one is on the lower tier, and also why the older editions are on the higher tier.

On reddit they say that the older editions have much higher community support

I'd be interested in seeing a post mortem from the cuphead developers on the merits of listening to gamer feedback on their initial gameplay demo.

Whether it was worth it going back and adding in platforming levels.

i played it on family sharing and it's just like the first game with a hub world and more junk, couldn't get myself to play it further

I'm in good game overload right now. If the base dropped to 40, 20 is only half off now.

I need an impulse buy price so I can get it and immediately let it cut the line of my backlog.

Fair enough. I don't have a backlog and can't wait for new stuff to come out all the time. It's terrible sometimes.

It's very much a console-AAA game. Uncharted is a good comparison, so if you really don't like light platforming puzzles with "detective vision" hidden items, and enemy rooms sprinkled with waist-high cover and light stealth, then you can give it a pass. It's a good graphics showcase if you have a high-end system.

it IS like Uncharted, and there is a lot of animal hunter, and there is not a lot of going through ancient temples and stuff. At least not in the traditional TR way there isnt.

Total Warhammer 2 has some nice aesthetic touches compared to the first game. Like, in battles against Skaven, enemies will cry, "They're everywhere!" And when they are outnumbered ten to one, surrounded on all sides by Skaven, with more bursting out of the ground every minute, it is like this apocalyptic horror scene where such a comment fits perfectly.

The Skaven (basically, ratmen) are not a force defeated, so much as driven back, and Total Warhammer 2 really captured that. It's making me really excited for whatever new factions are ahead, plus the combined Mortal Empires campaign with both games' factions.

CA have found their calling. I just can't get enough Total WAAAGH.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is OK. It's more video game-y than Uncharted, but so blindly simple that you wonder what you're doing sometimes. Everything is straightforward and there is no mystery, tension, or adventure to anything--it's all checking off some list to move on to the next list. Like it has this whole resource management side to it, for crafting, but there's 0 balance to how things are distributed so you'll never be wanting for anything except gated, rare resources. And combat only ever gets easier thanks to a bevy of power-ups and unlocks.

While I wouldn't call it great or anything (I enjoyed it a lot more than Uncharted 4) but it is entertaining. Sort of light, fluffy entertainment. If you just want to just play video games for the sake of it, RotTR would be suitable.

Worth noting that there's a bunch of unlockable difficulty mods through some weird lootbox system. If I played with the right mix of them I'd probably find the gameplay loop a lot more satisfying. I also didn't dig into most of that complete version's stuff; I got bored halfway through the campaign and have yet to return.

Save yourself Zkylon. It's the second worst game I've ever played, only beaten out by TR2013.

yeah that doesn't sound like my kind of thing

i feel if i want a game like that i'd rather play ass creed which gives me at least a really cool setting and a fun story

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
speaking of great games - I started replaying The Wolf Among Us since it's been a few years and we're getting another season next year. The game is just as good as I remember if not maybe a little bit better given that I'm looking at the Telltale formula through the lens of their more recent offerings.
