I am finishing up my Uncharted 2 playthrough and I really wish this game ended like 2 hours ago.

I don't think this game aged well.
Sure the train section is good but that's 1 section in a what, 10ish hour game?
The shooting is fine and the visuals are nice but the entire game is just uninspired, with waves after waves of half a dozen or so enemies just rushing at you.
It's like ND gave up on attempting to add in form of expanded gameplay elements and just turned it into a cover shooter.
Heck even the shooting gets dull after some time when that's all you freakin' do in the game.
It may have been fine for its time but IMO this one falls into that dreaded 'Has not aged well' category real hard.
Mind you I've been playing it segmented with months inbetween playthroughs and yet any time I do get to playing it I feel demotivated.
I've lately noticed that the game doesn't really give you much area to run around and maneuver in as you are in the last 1/4 of the game. Heck look how narrow corridor-like the first jungle area in the game is when not in a combat area.

In theory, yes. But you wont go to hell.

I was just wondering, since piracy on GAF seems to be a topic people dont want to talk about it, but I just imagine if Square-Enix would make a new Nier, port it to PC, then make it japan exclusive with english localization without any way to gift it, how many people would still play it on PC here.

You’re probably one of those people that like Uncharted 4 and all it’s walking and talking aren’t ya?

Question, since I dont wanna open a new thread.

If a publisher releases a game on Steam/PC, thats only available there, but regionlocks it to a certain country (lets say the US) and its not giftable and you are not allowed to use a foreign region you dont reside in, would it be morally wrong to download that game?

Unless a very valid reason is given (and likely even then) people will just do what they want.
Usually you'd have the opportunity/argument of importing but since it's digital goods..... It's still wrong, but people would still download it even if just to give it a try and see what all the fuss is about.

I'd say the more determining factor would be how easy it would be to get your hands on it rather than the morality of it.

Yeah. My scenario would be that that game is only available through Steam, the publisher regionlocked it to one country and disabled gifting for that game. So e.g. only American Steam accounts can buy it.

RIP Humble Bundle.

Regardless of it being able to continue independent operations it seems reasonable to be skeptical. Plus I kinda just don't want to give money to IGN - that should be one of the allocation options.

Nah at best I'd call UC4 mediocre, but I do think it's the btter game in the series mainly because it has actual freakin' puzzles in it.
Light puzzles mind you but at least it's better than the boring auto platforming in the previous games.

I just need my guns and action lol. That’s what Uncharted is about for me. Dunno if you played Lost Legacy but I’d easily say that’s the best balance the series has ever had with puzzles and action.

Noob question but what mics do you guys use? I got called out for not having a mic on Ghost Recon just now. I never use one but it is one of those games where it is kind of useful in co-op.

Can I just use my phone earbuds with the mic? And can it work with push to talk? Using the laptop mic I find is probably shit. Confused.

Eh after the recent bout of Shooters I've played this year along with Doom 2016, UC's shooting isn't all that IMO. It's good but the overall way you go about shooting enemies is very dull after some time, esp. on normal and when it takes a whole pistol clip to kill a normal thug if you aren't aiming close to their head.

I do have Lost Legacy but I will start it after I beat UC3, if I ever get around to doing so.
Mind you my least fav. part about UC4 was the actual freakin' shooting sections themselves :p

IGN aren't that bad.

It's more than this is just the shit cherry on top of heaps of other, way more important shitty stuff. Like it's just trolling. IGN kinda sucks but it's not like this is GameStop or anything. I'm just worried about them no longer being independent at all.

I just use the cheap Zalman clip-on since I don't have to hear it anyway :x

For streaming and/or chatting, I use a Yeti mic or a Modmic. However, those two can be expensive choices. I can suggest this cheaper alternative. If you have earbuds with a mic, they can work if you have a unified jack. If you have separate headphone and mic jack ports, you may need to look into getting a splitter.

I use a HyperX Cloud II headset for PC and PS4 voice chat

So far really enjyoing The Evil Within 2. For me a big improvement over the first one, which I didn't like that much.

I think uncharted: the lost legacy was the first uncharted I really enjoyed because it had interesting puzzles mixed in with action that is nicely paced and knew when to get out with it's story so it didn't drag. Uncharted 1-3 were just way to filled with encounters, shooting galleries and bullet sponge enemies that diminish the parts of the game that work really well. Uncharted 4 went way to far in the opposite direction for me to the point I was bored for long periods of time with the game, which diminished the aspects I did enjoy with the game. Also it was just way to long.

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream dropped a card after seven minutes of playtime. Interesting.

Doesn't seem to support Steam overlay, though, despite patch notes saying otherwise.

No changes in the "short term" obviously to satiate any doubts. But undoubtedly sizeable changes are coming, otherwise there would be no reason to purchase it. I'd try and keep an open mind as always, but I have little confidence in this particular grouping

Well, grain of salt and all that but this is what they're saying:

However, a press release confirming the deal also noted that Humble will continue to operate independently in the wake of the acquisition, with no significant business or staffing changes. It will have some degree of support from IGN (which is itself owned by digital media giant J2 Global), specifically in terms of accelerating growth and raising more money for charity.

"If it's not broken, don't fix it," said Galbraith, who explained that IGN started looking to make a deal like this nearly a year ago. "The idea is just to feed them with the resources they need to keep doing what they're doing."

Well, maybe we'll at least get some great bundles in the "short term" to build confidence.

Conveniently that miss that last sentence:

"We want to stick to the fundamentals in the short term. We don't want to disrupt anything we're doing right already," added Graham. "Because of the shared vision and overlap of our customer bases, there's going to be a lot of opportunities."

It's similar to the output of something like Facebook grabbing Oculus. Lots of safe calming statements about the future to try and stabilise any doubts, but you can already see how that has shifted vs the original statements. Both are wholely valid purchases that could turn out quite well - but as I said, I am highly doubtful of this based on the purchasers history and methods

Kinda disappointed with TEW2 so far 5 hours in.

Past the introduction chapter it feels like literally any current AAA-Open world game, you run around, collect some journals, items and upgrades, kill some enemies and get XP, occasionally you rememebr there's a main questline you're supposed to follow.

It doesn't help that this entire world so far has been Anytown, USA, which is a quote from the protagonist himself funnily enough. Makes you wonder why the devs made it if they're aware of how generic and boring that city is.

Also, it's really not fun walking with no ammunition into an ambush of three strong enemies and then being autosaved into that situation.

Humble Bundle stopped being primarily about Charity a long time ago and has ultimately just become another storefront for good deals so meh.

I have a simple motto, "It's not piracy if you are not given the chance to buy it legally in the first place"
