My damage for the sale.

I think I'm done but undertale is just sitting there eyeballing me.

Damnit I paid 1.99 for the bundle instead of the minimum (which I always do).
Can you get dyslexia as an adult?

Did you already buy that? On indiegala if you buy Dying Light you get Call of Juarez, Bedlam and a random scratch game for free.

It was Shadow of Mordor instead of Bedlam for a while, but it appears the offer is over.

I love ME2, but come on! A severe lack of customization? ME1 had inventory problem, but sacking the entire customization system is horrible. Mako got replaced by resource scanning, but it wasn't fun either. Main quest is worse, somehow the companion quests are the main pillars of the game. Even the Citadel was smaller!

The weapon customization was never very impressive, I made a gun that never had to be reloaded and did max damage. Didn't have to bother with it after that. The citadel just sort of turned into busy work since you were going back there and running around very often. So making that set made sense. Scanning wasn't great, but it once again took up less time than driving around a empty planet. ME1 undoubtedly had the better story, but the ME2 story along with the companion missions prevents it from being such a slouch in that regard. Outside the random ass last boss.

I'm all for the series going back to roots in Andromeda. But I want them to try and make both groups happy. If andromeda is nothing but a Inquistion reskin it can go away.

Planet exploring needs to be worth a damn, and players shouldn't have to be tied to the amount of side content they do to be able to progress in the main story line in andromeda.

I liked the sale, got quite some games:
-the witcher 3
-undertale
-shovel knight
-darkest dungeon
-endless legend complete
-age of wonders 3 complete

Turn off tryhard mode and experiment! Smaller Citadel really killed the atmosphere, it's supposed to be a multi-million galactic center hub, the small size did a poor job keeping the illusion up. While scanning took less time, but it still feels like chore so I would say it's barely an improvement.

going for one last big purchase: MGS, The Witcher 3 or GTA V?

I'd say The Witcher 3, though it all depends on what you want. MGSV is the best modern stealth game, though if you are a fan of the series you might be a bit disappointed/angry after you finish playing it. GTA V is a classic Rockstar open world game and The Witcher 3 is an open world action RPG (with a great story and characters, a surprising trait for such a game)

Steam has a different price in my country, the full price is cheaper than with the discount at gmg.

I think I am gonna buy it anyway, I don't think it'll get much cheaper.

It's my GOTY by some distance, and it sounds like you're getting it for fairly cheap anyway, so I'd say that's a good decision :)

Why would I experiment when I have the best? I had that even on an insane playthrough.
Still don't agree with the citadel part, since you ended up just visiting the same areas. Like it did work for some of the side missions here and there, but maybe I'm just an asshole. I was never that impressed with the citadel in ME1. I never went into ME2 & ME3 going "I miss the big citadel". Also id rather spend less time on a chore than more time. Which is still the way I see the mako.

I know I'm coming across as hating ME1, but I do I like all of them. I just like ME2 the most.

The Witcher 3, great story with great characters in an amazingly crafted world, and has no significant flaws like the other two.

Doesn't have combat like Bloodborne, that's a significant flaw. GAF said so.

I've been dancing around buying Kerbal Space Program. I think I could enjoy it but how complex is the game, really? I know they say it's easy to play but I wonder how easy it is to fully grasp and lose yourself in building.

It has serious pacing issues halfway through.
If you're talking about finding a particular friend of Geralt's, he has always been an important character in the series, so I don't consider doing it a waste of time.

That's still much better than GTAV which had pacing issues the entire game, or like MGSV which barely had a story to speak of.

Posting again for posterity. Now that the sale is wrapping up, remember we have a Community OT that begins right after the sale finishes. Otherwise, we will see gaming side again come Summer Sale!

We are also holding SteamGAF GOTY voting in that thread as well.

PM MRORANGE for any game recommendations you would like to make for the month of January (Looking at you Dusk for a RE0 writeup).

A lot of games are coming out in January so will need people to write for, Dragon's Dogma is already taken by Dog (If I've missed any, send me a message with the header image URL and I will add it to the post).

I wouldn't mind doing the writeup for XCOM 2 if no other veteran wants to cover it.

I want to believe we will have a solid slate of Weeklong deals later today.

It's amazing I haven't spent more than €60 this sale. Used to be a lot, lot more.

There's currently 21 people playing RotTR on PC. Just QA, or did they maybe send some codes to press and tubers?

Can't wait to see some footage.

I'm going to try to be a little more active in community this year. I don't have time to be a "regular," but I'll try to post more than just lurk.

Probably both.

Little bit of column A, little bit of column B.

If you pay attention to games that haven't been released yet, frequently they will have people playing them.

Bumping my question. I've been dancing around buying Kerbal Space Program. I think I could enjoy it but how complex is the game, really? I know they say it's easy to play but I wonder how easy it is to fully grasp and lose yourself in building.

Did you play the demo? I got confused in the demo and said nope.

Yeah ME1 had a few cool ideas, that might have been worth messing with in the sequels. But I wouldn't change anything from ME2 after playing it.

The entirety of ME2 was 10 recruitment missions (human resource department simulator), 10 loyalty missions (because the universe in peril isn't incentive enough) and a paper napkin thin main story with the dumbest final boss in a while. The only thing ME2 excelled in was combat systems. So it's fine if you're just there to play another shooter, but it did fuckall to expand the awesome sci fi cosmology set up in the first game. Not to mention their design choices in the suicide mission painted them into a corner and made all those companions worthless in the third game.

With all due respect.. Why? I mean, it either has to try being an open space exploration RPG or Inquisition in space and there's no compromise in between that will not make me feel like I'm grinding my gears on getting through poorly designed filler junk that just makes a game longer for the sake of making it longer?

They have been rewarded handsomely by critics, sales and game of the year awards for what they did in Inquisition. They have no incentive to compromise from their 'winning formula' of adding meaningless filler junk. And I don't think their egos would allow them to do it anyway. Bioware is a studio filled with people that think they can do no wrong.

edit - at this point I'd equate their writing to Bethesda Game Studios. They are both in the business of making the same kinds of "RPGs".

I disagree with that, ME2 did plenty to expand the series story. Especially if we're counting the DLC such as shadow broker.
