Neo Scavenger installed, so let's see how fast I die. Perfect for playing on my stripped down PC. A buddy gave me Icewind Dale 2 boxed for a birthday gift. That has me stoked too.

You wanted water too, correct? That freaks me out to have in mine.

Good luck making it past day 1 on your first try.

If folks can get 980ti's for $300, how come 970's aren't like $100-$150?

Because $300 for a used 980ti is a price that someone wants to instantly sell at.

Still used 970s should be relatively easy to get at $230ish

Edit: When the 1080 was first announced, you could get a 980ti for <$400 pretty easy. But when the 1080 released, used 980tis went up to $480.

I suspect when 1070s are easy to come by the used 9xx series is going plummet in price.

So I picked up #17 after the fight with the bruiser in the laundry room during Chapter 6 (the prison one). So next chapter you get out and whatnot. Well I go to main menu and it says I missed #17.

I go back and redo the chapter and it isn't even in that room anymore, how can I get it since it isn't there anymore?

ugh!

I'm enjoying messing around with the Steam controller but I really wish it would give some visual feedback as you make adjustments.

For example using a mouse region over the minimap of an RTS/Moba/etc. is a neat use of the controllers abilities allowing quick map control, but just adjusting sliders I have to go back and forth a dozen times trying to get the region correctly placed/sized. If it would just show where the region is on my screen it would be much easier. Being able to test out smoothness/sensitivity options within the configuration utility would be useful as well.

I'm impressed with the sheer amount of customization available though, I didn't do extensive research into it and had no idea about the pop-up menus, trackball momentum emulation, outer ring options on the pads, etc. I tried a gyroscopic aiming layout for FPS that worked surprising well.

edit: Oh yeah, I've also been "charging" it overnight the last couple days before finding out it just uses standard AAs.

How and can you use the configuration out of BPM as well or is that still a gate?

Right click the game and select configure Steam Controller... I think.
It's been in the beta client for awhile, but I think it might be in the main builds now?
The controller has to be on and detected for it to show as an option.

So it's no longer a real gate, I think. So long as the steam controller is detected and configured with a profile, that should be active when you start a game regardless of whether or not you're in BPM. This has been true for awhile I believe... but to make changes to configuration, you had to be in BPM. Now, as I said above, I think you can just right click the game and select configuration from the menu to get the little BPM type window with the ability to configure.

While it's not a perfect solution, there is something that may help you out a bit. You can open the overlay and click on 'Toggle Controller Hud' to show your mouse region in game, making it easier to see what you're doing while you go back and forth with the edit. You can make slight changes and just press the guide/steam button to check your progress.

Thanks, that is definitely much better. Especially since I'll admit I was backing all the way out of the configuration rather than just hitting the steam button creating extra steps.

I wasn't really feeling that Volition trailer and then Ultor and the Saints logo shows up and I'm like, "you have my attention."

I'm on the final boss of DOOM. I hate final bosses. Died a few times, I'll try again tomorrow.

Basic strategy should be BFG > use chaingun mobile turret or gauss cannon siege mode until it gets up then repeat until dead. There's a few BFG ammo pickups around the outside of the arena.

Other than that, adjust your runes to be the most beneficial at the time. Change them mid fight too, as they become potentially useless. For example, I started out with the rune on which gives you infinite ammo while you have 75 or more armor, when my armor was low enough that it no longer worked, I swapped it for something else, like the second chance rune. Vacuum rune was helpful too, as it helps you get the drops from the boss without getting dangerously close.

If that $200 ATI card hits and is as good as claimed, I suspect you'll see a lot of 970s hit the used market in that range. Right now you can still get new ones off Jet.com with coupon in the $250 range if the 1070 is going to be too much. But that ATI card looks set to steal a ton of NVidia's thunder, the 1070 isn't even remotely as good a value as the 970 was when it released.

The sun emits orange instead of white now? I dunno, man... I feel like it'd ruin the sunsets/sunrises, which are the visual highlight of the lighting system to me.

Aside from the weird lighting occasionally (my Geralt had yellowish hair indoors for some reason, for example) and faux darkness (granted, this could be a gamma issue on my side) it's been a beautiful game. Can't really think of a more purrdy game I've ever played, at least technically.

I've only used it for a grand total of like a minute just to test it

I have no issues with the way the game looks normally

I can't go back to vanilla Witcher 3 anymore since the first time I tried STLM. It's a game changer.

The orange sunsets/sunrises can be easily fixed with the right reshade preset.

That looks pretty good. Does it have a big impact on performance at all?

No performance hit whatsoever for me. Some folks over the nexus even reported they got a performance boost with it.

Anyone else feel like there is a bit too much hype for Battlefield 1? The YT trailer has like nearly 40 million views and supposedly its the most liked video in history of YT. I think people are setting themselves up for disappointment. I get that its fun to hate on CoD atm for the infinite warfare shit but somehow that turned into Battlefield love. I mean the past 3 attempts for EA with that genre hasn't been too hot. BF4 launch was an embarrassing mess full of disconnections and other shit that had them publicly apologizing for months. BF Hardline was dead within weeks and just a glorified mod for BF4 with bad reviews. Battlefront was a very bare bones shooter made for 8 year olds just too capitalize on SW name.

Somehow people just continue to entrust EA with these games. Its like a never ending circle. BF1 will probably disappoint and many will complain this fall. Then ofc everyone will be hyped again when they unveil BF5 or wtvr in a few years. Its almost like people never learn.

Getting hyped for AAA games is just cause for letdown.
Getting hyped for AAA EA games is justification for institution.

I want to pick up Stranger of Sword City so bad, but I need to wait until I get some money from my new job before I buy anything else really.
