Really not sure why but im enjoying skyrim alot more than witcher 3.

I dunno i just feel skyrim is more fun to explore n its not just map hopping if that makes sense. I think there's something else but i just can't figure out what. By all rights witcher should be up my alley but hmmm

So, as expected, Prey 2017 received huge price drop in retail in my region because of upcoming summer sale (and possibly because game flopped in sales, but i'm trying not to think about this). Now price is around 16$ with preorder DLC. I finished a lot games from my 2017 backlog and now I'm actually have time to play Prey. But maybe i should wait for summer sale, price could go even lower...

I'm curious if that lasts. Skyrim seemed limitless to me when I first played it, but after some time the magic began to wear off. Like, the patchwork nature of the gameplay, area, and quest design are surprisingly thin considering the size of it all, and once I started to notice how it all worked it got boring. Witcher 3, meanwhile, always had story carrots dangling around every corner, which helped me power through all of it.

It's really only Skyrim's mods that have lured me back to it. Story freshness can get stretched out a lot more than gameplay freshness (unless it's really good!!) I guess.

Although now that I think of it, I'm probably an outlier when it comes to valuing story above other stuff... I've wasted a lot of time in some games just to see the story. (literally hundreds of hours in Star Wars the Old Republic is probably my biggest shame. Went through all but one of the class stories.) And true to form, my only regret is not wasting more time seeing those stories through. Man.

It's not going to be more than half off.

Do you happen to know where I could find a steam key for such a price?

Tried out Deathtrap for a few days based on the forum's recommendation.

Short version: it's pretty bad. Game fails as a tower defense game, and as a hack & lash game. It needed to pick a direction and stick with it. Anemic amounts of loot drip fed to the player, limiting not only where towers can be placed but also what kind of towers you're allowed to use, drowning the player in upgrade points but artificially choking progress by limiting what can be bought by character level, etc.

I imagine coop could be fun for a day or two, but I couldn't find an online game that would connect.

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
happy birthday Nete!

Well take your pick:

1. It doesn't affect the countries they live in. If their countries are affected they may not have any money issues so the price hike doesn't matter.

2. Fanboyism and corporate inclined person pretending to be an armchair specialist in economy

3. Think they are supporting a starving indie dev and have a hero complex about it

4. Ignorance about the game or the platform but wanting to be an edgy and special snowflake.

5. They honestly doesn't see anything wrong with it and think it's a fair price and practice.
Neogaf is filled with Paradox's shareholders.
"Fuck you, got mine."
Gotta defend these poor publishers from those bad customers who lives in poorer country because they are paying less than customers from richer countries!

It's really weird - they're not affected by the change (assuming they aren't part of the poor countries) so why are they complaining? It's not like they have a stake at the company. The reason lower prices exist in poor countries is so people could buy the games.

Same crap happened when valve killed trading in umbrella regions like South America. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who defended that decision with facts they took out of their rear.

Happy Birthday Nete :)

So The Evil Within really shits the bed on these last few chapters...on chapter 13 and it really stopped being enjoyable once chapter 10 came

Oh it's a birthday celebration!

Why does the OP say when the winter sale is instead of the summer sale? I suddenly forgot when every other summer sale has been.

dying light is so cool but would it be bad if i avoid zombies since i know fighting stuff will level your power up? i just love climbing stuff and i don't want to engage the zombies on the ground, also kind of don't feel like wearing out my weapons

Why are people defending Paradox's price changes in GAF?

I remember in one thread someone said a game costs like 1/4th of the monthly salary (so lets say it would costs around 500-700€ in Germany) and he cant afford it and will pirate it. That was the worst thing you could ever do!

Edit: Happy bday~

Been playing some Binary Domain this weekend.

Wasn't expecting the game to be so...anime.

Pretty fun shooter nonetheless. The setting and soundtrack is great too.

In my XCOM 2 journeys, I have taken a screenshot that is the purest representation of what XCOM is, without having a Chryssalid on screen.
He's not even missing and you can just feel the futility of it all! It's sooo XCOM.

And that crossbow gun? Don't ask; I have no idea what added it to the game...

Happy birthday, Nete. Enjoy the day.

And all the fathers too. I tweaked my back and can't move. Nice day, huh?

Oh, was that Wyatt on LSD? I didn't play with his story so I didn't recognise him. It is a nice feeling to imagine both BJ's buddies are still with him, instead of the horror-show that actually happened.
Plus being stuck in a test tube on a shelf for 15 years only to be forced to betray your brother in arms..

I see System Shock 2 has an inventory recycler. Prey really is exactly in the lineage.

Are any other games such direct homages to previous works that are made by a different studio with a new game title? Obviously, Bioshock is the first I can think of. Any others?

Zuma.
Peggle.
Pretty much everything by Popcap.

Also Serious Sam. Pretty much a Doom, only better designed, more visceral and with better gunplay.

It seems like I am wrong on Prey in the sense that I have come away with a not so fair impression of Prey based on the PS4 demo. I didn't complete the demo but it felt like there was input delay of some kind? And I can't remember if there was head bobbing but it made me feel nauseous so I was afraid of picking up the full game. With the video reception I am of course curious but I is the shape-shifting of taking over control of objects the main "gimmick" (in lack of a better word sorry) of the title?

There's a line of NPC dialogue in Dishonored that was borrowed verbatim from the tutorial in the original Thief.
