Valve is not your friend.

Anime is not your friend.

Your gaming habits are unhealthy

Your favorite video game is shit.

You've been warned SteamGAF
People are taking that Polygon article out of context. It's supposed to be a joke. There are no silly, broken graphs in it. That's how you can tell.

That feeling when Humble Monthly Bundle auto renews and you already own the main game(s)... Immediately cancelled my subscription this month. Not letting that happen to me again.

look what we have here!

and it's not SquareCells Infinite in case you haven't noticed

Oh hells yes! :D

Is this game relevant to you?

This game doesn't look like other things you've played in the past. As such we don't have much information on whether or not you might be interested in this game

Hexcells Infinite
63 hrs on record

Valve needs to add something that's essentially "This game is relevant to you because it's by the same developer as X, and you played X more than Y hours".

They're getting there, for sure. Things I miss are mnemonic shortcuts (mostly possible with Firefox addons), the ability to easily customize every part of the UI (toolbar buttons, chrome, etc), more advanced custom searches, and keyboard spacial navigation. Not sure how flexible Blink is but hopefully it'll reach such a point.

Being able to hide the entire chrome, leaving only the page visible with a customized, sequential hotkey like h i d e is something not even many Opera fans knew they could do.

This and being able to tag your friends with 'similar taste' and 'opposite taste' would make the recommendation system a lot more robust.

...What's actually the best way to give Valve feedback for this stuff? Sending an email to Gabe? :p

I don't know, though I was literally about to edit my post to ask this. :D

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Can I grab the One The House Deal from EA with a VPN or will this get my into trouble?

As far as I'm aware, the closest EA has come to cracking down on VPN usage is retroactively cancelling select Dragon Age: Inquisition pre-orders.

Is there any indication that the confidence indicator will actually be a visible thing, or perhaps even usable as a filter?

I'm sure developers will be privy to where their game is standing in a vague sense, but I can't imagine it being a system that is forward-facing to regular users. The more data Valve gives out, the more likely it is for people to game the system.

I'm sure developers will be privy to where their game is standing, but I can't imagine it being a system that is forward-facing to regular users as this would just make it all the more easier for unscrupulous developers to gain an understanding of how the data is crunched and the game the system.

Which would mean it comes down to idling again to make that judgement....if a game has cards and doesn't drop them then Valve thinks it's a fake game, whilst if drops happen then all is good. It just seems a tortuous method of obscuring something that might be valuable to the end user. Although of course maybe that's expected.

It's not a user concern as they're protected by the refund policy. Two hours is more than enough time to ascertain whether or not you're actually playing something that is deserving of your time. Valve's goal here isn't to protect users from "fake games" so much as it is to protect the Steam Store's recommendation systems from unreliable data.

I suppose you're right...I tend to forget about the refund thing (i fear backlash a la Amazon). It'd just be interesting to ascertain what sort of time period would be needed for a good game from an unknown developer to go from questionable to "actually this is well worth trying!". I suppose only time will tell.
